What court says over Karnataka oxygen crisis

The Central Government on Thursday filed a petition in the apex court against the order of the Karnataka High Court to increase the daily supply of liquid therapeutic oxygen (LMO) in the state from 965 MT to 1200 MT for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

Instructions have been given.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, before a bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah, said that 965 MT of LMOs are being supplied to the state at present and that order needs to be stopped immediately.

The bench said that before passing any order in the matter, they would look into the documents.

The bench said that it would hear it again after a few minutes.

Also, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that the Center has reduced the supply of liquid medical oxygen from Karnataka to Maharashtra by 50 metric tons and the move is on treatment of Covid-19 patients. Will have a serious impact.

Tope said that the issue of shortage of supply of liquid medical oxygen to Maharashtra is necessary to be raised before the Union Health Ministry.

He said that most of the patients of Covid-19 in the country are under treatment in Maharashtra.

Tope told reporters here that the central government reduced the allocation of liquid medical oxygen from Karnataka to Maharashtra by 50 tonnes.

“It will have a serious impact on the ongoing treatment of Covid-19 patients in Maharashtra,” he said.

” It is necessary to raise this issue with the Union Health Ministry and other officials concerned. ” It added.
