Sawan Month: Sawan Somvar Fasting rituals and rules,what to eat and what to avoid

The holy month of sawan has started from July 25 2021 and the first fast is observed on Monday,July 26,2021.

Sawan somvar has a great religious importance in Hindu religion.The devotees keeps fast every Monday(Somvar) in order to pay respect to Lord Shiva.Kavad Yatra also takes place in this month but from last year due to spread of covid-19 it has been cancelled in view of precaution.

What to eat?

You can eat fruits,but keep in mind to opt fruits that help your digestion power.When you deprive your body of food your digestive system goes for a toss.You should eat papaya,as it contains pepsin an element which helps in digesting food.Go for antioxidant-rich foods.

What to avoid?

Keep a day long fast every Monday of Sawan month and abstain from consuming non-veg, alcohol, tobacco, cereals and  grains.Refrain from foods that contain salt, garlic, and onion.
