Jolly LLB 3 Vs Nishaanchi Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar Starrer Opens Higher Than Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, Anurag Kashyap’s Film Takes Poor Start

Jolly LLB 3 opened with Rs 12.50 crore on day one, surpassing Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par. Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi struggled with a poor Rs 0.25 crore start.

The big box office clash of the week has finally played out and it brought two very different results. Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi starrer Jolly LLB 3 managed to open on a fair note, while Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi had a disappointing start. Both films were released on September 19, but the courtroom comedy-drama clearly had the upper hand on its first day.

Jolly LLB 3 Box Office Collection Day 1

Directed by Subhash Kapoor, Jolly LLB 3 reunited Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, much to the delight of fans. Their chemistry and witty banter have already earned praise from critics. However, the film’s journey to release was not without hurdles. Advance bookings were disrupted after PVR-Inox temporarily halted sales due to a dispute with the producers over Virtual Print Fee (VPF). Tickets were stopped and resumed twice before release, leaving many fans confused.

The effect was visible on day one. Morning shows recorded just 10% occupancy across India. Yet, positive word of mouth turned the tide. Afternoon shows jumped to nearly 17.5% occupancy, with further growth through the evening. According to Sacnilk, the film had collected Rs 12.50 crore net in India by the end of the day.

The opening helped Jolly LLB 3 cross the double-digit mark it needed. Interestingly, it outperformed Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, which had earned Rs 10.20 crore on its first day earlier this year. However, it could not surpass Jolly LLB 2 (2017), which had made Rs 13 crore on its opening day.

Nishaanchi Box Office Collection Day 1

On the other hand, Nishaanchi, Kashyap’s latest venture, failed to attract audiences on day one. The gangster drama marked the debut of Aaishvary Thackeray, who plays twin brothers Babloo and Dabloo. Despite its star value and the director’s reputation, the film opened poorly with collections of only Rs 0.25 crore net in India, as per early estimates.

Trade experts believe its slow start may be hard to recover from, especially with strong competition at the box office. Word of mouth has been mixed, with many pointing out the film’s length and uneven pacing.

About Jolly LLB 3 And Nishaanchi

Jolly LLB 3 combines humour and social commentary, exploring the story of a farmer’s suicide in Rajasthan that sparks a courtroom battle against a powerful industrialist. The film balances light-hearted moments with serious undertones, keeping audiences engaged. Critics have called the performances lively but noted that the film falls slightly short of the impact left by earlier instalments.

Meanwhile, Nishaanchi dives deep into the world of crime in Kanpur. It follows two brothers whose lives spiral after a failed bank robbery. Themes of loyalty, betrayal, and revenge drive the plot. While performances have been praised, the execution has left viewers divided. Many preferred Kashyap’s sharper past works over this one.
