Kashmir Files Wins Nargis Dutt Best Film Award; Vivek Agnihotri reacts

The Kashmir Files, a controversial movie directed by Vivek Agnihotri, received praise at the 69th National Film Awards in 2023. The Nargis Dutt Best Film Award On National Integration went to “The Kashmir Files.” When Vivek Agnihotri won big at the National Film Awards, he expressed his feelings.

Vivek Agnihotri expressed his feelings at winning large for his movie “The Kashmir Files” in an interview with ABP Live. He revealed that Vivek Agnihotri is currently in the United States. He also mentioned how happy he was to have won the most coveted cinema award in India.

Agnihotri added that he had always thought “The Kashmir Files” was more than just a movie; it was the movie of everyone it represented. In particular, the Hindus from Kashmir who were forced to migrate in large numbers in 1990, Vivek Agnihotri dedicated this distinguished award to all the victims of terrorism in India.

At the 69th National Film Awards, actor Pallavi Joshi of “The Kashmir Files” also took home the Best Supporting Actress Female National Award. Vivek Agnihotri wrote and directed The Kashmir Files. The migration of Hindu Kashmiris from Indian-administrated Kashmir in 1990 served as the central theme of the movie.

The film showed the evacuation of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits and their genocide. The movie contended that a conspiracy of silence had squelched numerous facts behind the huge departure of Kashmiri Pandits. Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi play the key characters in The Kashmir Files.

Despite being derided by reviewers for being “propaganda,” the movie was well-liked by viewers. The movie, which had a 25 crore rupee production cost, ended up making 340 crore rupees. Additionally, it rose to become the third-highest-grossing Hindi movie of 2022.

The film was lauded by several politicians and BJP leaders. PM Narendra Modi and a number of his cabinet ministers enjoyed the movie. While other viewers and journalists denounced the movie for encouraging Islamophobia.
