Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Box Office Collection Day 1: Ayushmann Khurrana‘s latest romantic comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has made a muted start at the box office. The film was released in theatres on Friday, May 15, and failed to generate the kind of opening buzz expected from a star-led comedy entertainer. Despite a strong ensemble cast, the film’s Day 1 performance has raised early concerns among trade circles.
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Box Office Collection Day 1
As per Sacnilk, the Mudassar Aziz directorial collected an estimated Rs 3.85 crore nett in India on its opening day. Across 6,822 shows, the film recorded a low occupancy of around 12%. Globally, it managed a Day 1 total of Rs 5.62 crore. However, the numbers fall short of expectations, especially considering Ayushmann Khurrana’s track record in socially driven comedies.
DON'T MISS
One of the biggest talking points around it is its comparison with the 2019 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh, starring Kartik Aaryan. The original film had a much stronger opening, collecting Rs 9.10 crore nett in India and Rs 10.50 crore gross.
In comparison, the sequel has registered nearly a 57% lower opening-day earnings. The 2019 film went on to become a commercial success with a lifetime collection of Rs 109 crore, setting a high benchmark that the new instalment now struggles to match. The weak start also puts pressure on the weekend growth, which will be crucial for the film’s overall box office run.
Early reactions to the film have been mixed. While some viewers appreciated the comic chaos and performances, others felt the narrative lacked freshness compared to the original film.
The film’s occupancy of just 12% across India indicates limited footfalls in both multiplexes and single screens. This suggests that word-of-mouth will play a key role in determining its future performance.
About The Sequel
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is a spiritual sequel set in Prayagraj. The story follows Prajapati Pandey, a forest officer whose attempt to fake a love affair for a political distraction spirals into a web of misunderstandings involving his wife and colleagues.
Made on an estimated budget of Rs 50–60 crore, the film relies heavily on situational comedy and ensemble performances.
