Perfect timing for a balanced day 

You are advised two optimal times for bathing. The first is before sunrise, right after cleaning your teeth and attending to your morning bowel movements. The second ideal time is around sunset. Using lukewarm water during these bathing sessions can help alleviate stress and promote muscle and nerve relaxation. Moreover, the evening bath can contribute to a more restful sleep.

Embrace the power of adequate water 

In line with an ancient Ayurvedic principle, bathing should emulate the way an elephant bathes, symbolizing the use of ample water. Adequate water not only cleanses the body but also refreshes the soul. This practice can enhance the overall cleansing experience and promote a sense of renewal.

Abhyanga: The healing oil massage 

An essential precursor to bathing in the Ayurvedic tradition is Abhyanga, the practice of massaging warm herb-infused oil onto the body. While sesame oil is the preferred choice, coconut oil or almond oil can also be used. Abhyanga helps balance the body’s doshas and can contribute to illness prevention.

Harnessing the magic of herbal powder 

Following the oil massage, gently apply herbal bath powder onto your body, using slow, firm strokes. This blend often includes ingredients such as Bengal gram, moong dal, turmeric, rose petals, sandalwood, neem leaves, and vetiver. The goldilocks water temperature 

The best bet is to use warm water for the true optimization of your bathing experience. It is therefore advisable to avoid direct use of cold water when washing your hair, as it can weaken my hair and cause damage to my eyes. When washing your hair to maintain its vitality, choose room temperature water.
