Delhi – Mumbai Expressway: The Delhi-Jaipur route is about to become more accessible by road with the inauguration of the first portion of the highly anticipated Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be leading the inauguration ceremony. Commuters will now be able to reach their destination in just 2.5 to 3 hours, reducing travel time from the current 5 hours, once the Sohna (Haryana)-Dausa (Rajasthan) stretch opens for traffic on Tuesday.
Sohna-Dausa section of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to be inaugrated
The Sohna-Dausa stretch of the expressway is 246 km long, while the entire Expressway will span 1,380 km. This section will serve as a convenient alternative to the congested Delhi-Jaipur Expressway. It has been developed at a cost of over ₹12,150 crore and runs for 160 km in Haryana, passing through the districts of Gurugram, Palwal, and Nuh. The stretch crosses 11 villages in Gurugram, 7 villages in Palwal, and 47 villages in Nuh.
The Sohna-Dausa stretch is directly connected via links from DND to Jaitpur, Jaitpur to Ballabhgarh, and Ballabhgarh to Sohna. As with the rest of the expressway, the Sohna-Dausa segment is an eight-lane controlled-access expressway that has the potential to be expanded to 12 lanes based on traffic demands.
