Due to continuous attempt of attack by Pakistan, measures are being taken to deal with any emergency situation in Delhi-NCR, border areas and other part of the India. Many states have also imposed school closures, border district blackouts, and a suspension of leave for police officers and administrators Delhi government has cancelled the leaves of government employees. IPL is suspended by BCCI. More than 100 flights to and from Delhi and other airports have been cancelled. It is important to have security measures in sensitive areas.
Flights Cancelled amid India-Pakistan Conflict
As situation is continuously worsening between India and Pakistan, provisions are being done to deal with the emergency situation in the country. As per The Civil Aviation Ministry, 24 airports across the country have been temporarily closed amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. This step is a part of a wider safety practice. Many affected airports are near the border or in strategically noteworthy regions.
On Thursday, around 100 flights to and from Delhi airport were cancelled. Delhi Airport has confirmed that its operations are normal and some flights have been impacted in account of strict security including changing airspace conditions. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has directed all airlines and airports in the country to toughen the security measures. Vehicles are to be inspected at all airport terminals, IDs are to be checked before entry, and passenger luggage are to be examined randomly. Visitors are not allowed to entry in terminal buildings. Paramilitary forces along with police have been positioned for security in the capital. Hindon airport in Ghaziabad is on alert. All the flights were cancelled here since Wednesday. Quick response teams to remain on alert in all 11 districts of Delhi. Sirens are being mounted in sensitive areas of the capital.
Suspension of Indian Premier League (IPL)
The BCCI has suspended IPL 2025, considering the safety of players amid increasing tensions between India and Pakistan. Match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was also called off due to safety concerns. Initially supposed to be a technical glitch, the situation rapidly worsened when officials were informed of the security threats as per the air raid alerts. BCCI has decided to suspend the IPL for an indefinite period.
Leaves of government officials Cancelled in Delhi
As drone attacks by Pakistan were reported in Jammu and other border areas, the leaves of all government officials in Delhi have been cancelled on Thursday evening. This includes doctors and staff in hospitals also. District Magistrates (DMs) across the city have also been directed to confirm that air raid sirens are mounted across the city. Till Thursday night, both electrical and manual sirens were set up in Uttam Nagar, Dwarka, Kapashera and Najafgarh areas.
As per reports, all DMs were asked to work whole night to ensure preparations for emergency response. As per the police sources, anti-aircraft guns were positioned across the city, and the New Delhi district would see placement of paramilitary commandos and other teams. Local police and paramilitary staffs have also been deployed at the CGO Complex in South Delhi.
Schools and Colleges Closed In Few Districts
Authorities have asked the closure of schools, colleges and other educational institutions in select districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Ladakh. The Jammu and Kashmir government ordered the closure of all schools, colleges till Saturday as a safety measure. Leh also announced the same for all the schools. In Rajasthan, schools are closed in Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Barmer districts. All colleges in Jodhpur were also ordered to remain closed.
Punjab government has also closed all educational institutions for the next three days. Moreover, Panjab University in Chandigarh suspended exams on May 9, 10 and 12, new dates for which to be announced later. In Haryana, all educational institutions in Panchkula will be closed on Friday and Saturday, as per officials. ICAI has suspended the remaining papers of CA May 2025, including CA Final and Intermediate examinations. The examinations were scheduled from May 9 to 14. The new dates will be announced soon.
Trains Cancelled In Some Areas Due To Indo-Pak War
Due to increasing, the North Western Railways has cancelled four trains in Rajasthan. Five trains are also rescheduled in the state. The affected routes include services to and from Munabao, which is a village connecting to border. Railway officials confirmed that the step was taken as precautionary measure because of blackouts and emergency practices near the border.
The cancellations will affect key routes including Jodhpur-Barmer Demu Express, Barmer-Jodhpur Demu Express, and Munabao-Barmer Express. Moreover, trains like Jaipur-Jaisalmer Express and Jodhpur-Dadar Express have been partially cancelled or rescheduled due to blackout restrictions in Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur.
Due to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, many services are impacted. Flights, trains, schools and colleges, IPL are few of them. Leaves of government officials are cancelled to increase safety measures.
