2026 Bengal Exit Poll: West Bengal elections are over and exit polls are indicating a mixed bag of results. Two exit polls (Peoples Pulse, Janmat Polls) are predicting a clear and definitive edge to the sitting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress.

On the other hand, four exit polls (P-Marq, Praja Poll, Matrize and Poll Diary) are predicting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form the state government, for the first time in the state of West Bengal. JVC predicted a neck-and-neck contest between TMC and BJP. Has West Bengal voted for the Maa Mati cause or for a change?

What Do West Bengal Exit Polls Suggest?

A close fight was predicted by JVC between the Trinamool Congress (131-152 seats) and the BJP (138-159 seats). About 195 to 205 seats for Trinamool Congress and 80-90 seats for the BJP were preducted by Janmat Polls. In contrast, 193 seats for BJP in Bengal and 100 seats for Trinamool Congress were predicted by Praja Poll.

BJP win in Bengal with 150-175 seats and a close second for Trinamool with 118-138 seats has been predicted by P-Marq. People Pulse predicts Trinamool sweep while Matrize and Poll Diary predict BJP will breach Trinamool fortress.

2026 Bengal Exit Poll-Record Voter Turnout Could Be The Gamechanger

The state of West Bengal recorded a staggering 92.47 percent voter turnout in the second and final phase of the state assembly elections. The first phase had recorded a whopping 91.66 percent.  The second phase of voting is highly crucial for BJP as it includes South Bengal, the strongest fortress of TMC. The ruling party won 123, leaving just 1 for the ISF and 18 for BJP in 2021 elections.

According to political analysts, this could translate into a massive win for the Narendra Modi-led BJP as the anti-incumbency factor may have resulted in a shocking defeat for the ruling TMC.

In another development, the Election Commission of India has remarked that around 700 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will stay deployed across the state even after polling completion.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann honours 369 JEE Mains Achievers in Mohali, Punjab Celebrates Rising Academic Excellence

CM Mann

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday projected the success of 369 JEE Mains achievers in Mohali as a decisive validation of Punjab’s education overhaul, asserting that students once constrained by a struggling system are now competing at the national level due to the Punjab Government’s “Sikhya Kranti”.

Describing the achievers as “Taare Zameen Par”, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann underscored that their performance is not an isolated feat but clear evidence that quality education, treated as a right rather than a privilege, combined with empowered teachers and sustained reforms, is driving a structural rise in Punjab’s government schools.

Sharing a video snippet from the interaction on X, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “At Vikas Bhawan, Mohali, 369 meritorious students who delivered outstanding performance in the JEE Mains examination were honoured today. Heartfelt congratulations to all the students, their parents, and teachers for this remarkable achievement, along with best wishes for their bright future.”

He further stated, “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction to see our hardworking children excelling in every field. I am fully confident that these young minds will scale even greater heights in the coming years and bring laurels not only to their families but also to Punjab on the global stage.”

“We remain fully committed to giving a new direction to Punjab’s government schools and bringing about a revolution in the field of education. With the aim of providing students modern and world-class education, our teachers are being sent to countries like Finland and Singapore for specialized training. Our government is continuously striving to raise the standard of education in the state and to realize the vision of a ‘Rangla Punjab’,” the post concluded.

Addressing a gathering of students, teachers, and parents, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “These students who have cleared JEE are ‘Taare Zameen Par’, symbolizing the immense potential of Punjab’s youth. The ‘Sikhya Kranti’ launched by our government is now delivering tangible and inspiring results. These are not isolated successes but a reflection of systemic reforms aimed at revitalizing government education in Punjab. For years, education did not receive the priority it deserved under previous regimes.”

The Chief Minister stated, “Infrastructure was weak, systems were outdated, and students lacked opportunities, due to which Punjab lagged behind in this immensely important field. However, our government has worked tirelessly with concerted efforts to reverse this trend. The visible transformation in schools has changed the perception of government education. The success of these students is the strongest proof that when given the right environment, they can compete with the best in the country.”

Highlighting the achievements of students, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Their dedication and perseverance have redefined expectations. These students have not only succeeded academically but have also become role models for countless others. They have demonstrated that excellence is not confined to elite institutions.”

Drawing a poetic comparison, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann remarked, “These students are ‘Taare Zameen Par’, whose brilliance shines despite challenges and hostilities of every sort. Their real competition is not limited to local peers but extends to the brightest minds across the country and beyond.” Paying rich tributes to teachers, he added, “Teachers are the true nation builders. No transformation in education is possible without their dedication. Their role, zeal, and commitment in shaping young minds is unparalleled and deserves a huge applause.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Earlier, teachers often struggled due to lack of infrastructure and administrative burdens. To address this, our government has introduced systemic changes, including the recruitment of campus managers to handle non-academic responsibilities. Now teachers can focus exclusively on teaching, which is their primary role. This has proved to be a game changer in transforming the education sector.”

Emphasizing community participation, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “We have introduced Parent-Teacher Meetings in government schools to foster collaboration between parents and educators. Parents are now active stakeholders in their children’s education. This partnership ensures better monitoring, guidance, and overall development of students.”

Highlighting inclusivity, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Many students come from economically weaker backgrounds, including families of laborers, yet government schools are now providing facilities comparable to private institutions. This is a major step towards ensuring equity in education and enabling students to compete with their convent educated peers more deftly.”

He pointed out, “There exists a dual education system in the country, one offering luxury and quality to a privileged few, and another struggling to provide basic resources. Our government is committed to eliminating this divide. Quality education is not a privilege but a right of every student.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stressed, “Education is the most powerful tool for transformation. No welfare scheme, no subsidy, and no card can bring lasting change like education can. Students must aspire high and become role models in society. They are the future of Punjab and their success will shape generations to come.”

Underscoring reforms, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Teachers are being sent to countries like Finland and Singapore to learn best practices. These programs equip them with world-class teaching methodologies, which they bring back to classrooms in Punjab. This is a long-term investment in the future of our students, helping make them competitive. Teaching methods in government schools have undergone a complete transformation. Education is no longer about mere learning, it is now interactive, engaging, and enjoyable.”

The Chief Minister added, “Students must step out of their comfort zones because safety and success do not go hand in hand. To achieve something extraordinary, one must be willing to take risks. Even global success stories like Google started from a garage. Humble beginnings are no barrier to greatness. Both I and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains come from modest backgrounds. What matters is determination, honesty, and the courage to dream big.”

Appealing to parents, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Parents should not impose career choices on their children. Every child has unique talents and aspirations, and they should be given the freedom to choose their own path. Our government is committed to providing guidance and opportunities that enable students to explore diverse career options.”

Reiterating the government’s vision, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “We are committed to building a robust and inclusive education system to make Punjab a leader in education. Together, we must make strenuous efforts to create a Punjab where every child has access to quality learning and the opportunity to succeed. These reforms are not just about improving infrastructure or results, but about creating a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The success of students in competitive examinations like JEE marks a significant milestone in Punjab’s educational journey. It reflects the impact of sustained reforms, dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and determined students. As we continue to invest in education, the vision of an empowered and enlightened generation is steadily becoming a reality. With initiatives like international teacher training, improved infrastructure, and student-centric policies, Punjab is setting a benchmark for educational transformation in India. The day is not far when Punjab will lead the country in every sphere, especially education.”

Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, “When I assumed office, the education system was on the verge of collapse. Students had lost hope. However, through sustained efforts and reforms led by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, we have brought visible change. We are now maintaining comprehensive records of students’ progress, enabling better tracking and support.”

Sharing their experiences, students who overcame significant challenges to achieve success lauded the Punjab Government. Randeep Singh, son of an auto driver from Amritsar’s School of Eminence, said, “I became aware of JEE only after enrolling in the institution. The school opened new doors for me and gave me the confidence to aim higher.”

Priya Bhardwaj from Hoshiarpur said, “After my father’s demise, my family faced immense hardship. Government support helped us rebuild our lives and enabled me to pursue my dreams.” Navjot Kaur from Patiala said, “The improved facilities and learning environment in my school have played a crucial role in my success.” Manpreet Kaur from Dera Bassi said, “Educational camps helped me overcome academic challenges.”

Priya Kumari from SBS Nagar said, “My perception of government schools changed completely after joining a School of Eminence. These schools are a ray of hope for students like me, and I also urge that scholarships for higher education be provided.” Prabhjot Singh from Mullanpur Garibdass said, “Mock tests and academic support helped me clear doubts and improve performance despite financial constraints.”

A teacher who underwent training in Finland said, “Exposure to international teaching practices has significantly enhanced classroom engagement. This experience has been transformative not just for us as teachers but also for our students, who now benefit from innovative and effective learning methods.”

On the occasion, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Secretary Education Sonali Giri and others were also present.

Big relief for Punjab farmers as Bhagwant Mann Govt ensures canal water supply for paddy sowing from May 1 for first time

CM Mann

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday announced a major relief for farmers ahead of the paddy season, declaring that canal water for irrigation will be made available from May 1 itself, with 21,000 cusecs of water to be released across the state, marking a decisive shift away from Punjab’s heavy reliance on groundwater. Backed by a ₹6,700 crore investment in irrigation infrastructure, a 14,000 km pipeline network, and the activation of 7,000 newly constructed watercourses and channels, the Bhagwant Mann Government has paired this масштаб push with an 8-hour power supply schedule across four zones to streamline sowing.

The move not only ensures assured irrigation for paddy but also secures water availability for cotton, horticulture, maize and fodder in the Malwa region, while delivering tangible gains in groundwater recharge, with levels rising by 2 to 4 metres, signalling a structural reset in the state’s water management strategy.

Taking to X, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “During a press conference held in Chandigarh today, important information was shared regarding Punjab’s water resources, agriculture, and the bright future of its youth. Our primary objective is to reduce the use of groundwater and ensure that canal water reaches every field.”

He further stated, “A historic investment of ₹6,700 crore has been made in irrigation infrastructure. With 14,000 kilometres of new pipelines and 4,000 kilometres of new canals constructed this season, full water will be released into the canals from May 1. Even tail-end regions like Fazilka and Abohar will receive water by May 2. Due to water recharge efforts, groundwater levels have risen by 2 to 4 metres. Along with this, to save electricity and ensure convenience for labourers, paddy sowing has been divided into four zones. Direct seeding will begin from May 15, and from June 1, canal water supply will be provided in a phased manner. I would also like to clarify that every possible assistance will be extended to Punjabis who have been deported from Australia.”

“The government is fully committed to providing employment to the youth and securing the future of coming generations by saving every drop of water in the state.” the post concluded.

On Wednesday, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann also said, “For the first time, water is being released in the state from May 1 to benefit the farmers of Punjab.” He asserted, “Our Government is committed to saving every single drop of water. Not a single drop has been shared with any other state, nor is any water being sent to Pakistan.”

Highlighting the shift towards sustainable irrigation, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “We have ensured that dependency on canal water increases so that pressure on tube wells is reduced.” He added, “By March 2026, the Punjab Government has spent ₹6,700 crore on irrigation works across Punjab.”

Elaborating further, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “This amount has been used to lay 14,000 kilometres of pipes and watercourses across the state.” He added, “Before this paddy season, 4,000 km of newly constructed watercourses and 3,000 km of pipelines will be made operational.” He said, “21,000 cusecs of water will be released in these pipelines and watercourses to test them and remove any shortcomings.”

Underscoring the scale of the initiative, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The water being released is equal to the supply of two Bhakra canals and will immensely benefit farmers.” He added, “It will particularly help farmers in the Malwa region for orchards and for sowing crops such as cotton, maize and fodder, along with preparing fields for paddy cultivation.”

Emphasising long-term benefits, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This water will also help recharge groundwater through various recharge schemes, which will benefit future generations.” He further stated, “Horticulturists, especially in Fazilka and Abohar, will benefit as they will not have to depend on tube wells.”

Highlighting groundwater conservation, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Recharge points have been created in canals and rivers, resulting in an increase in water levels by two to four metres.” He added, “This decision is aimed at securing the future of coming generations, because Punjab stands for water, and without water, the state has no existence.”

Sharing further achievements, the Chief Minister said, “It is a matter of pride that due to the efforts of the Punjab Government, 21 lakh cubic metres of water has been recharged in the last one year.”

Addressing crop planning, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “To avoid complications for farmers in selling paddy due to high moisture content in October, the Punjab Government has decided to advance the paddy cultivation season from June 1.” He added, “Zone-wise cultivation of paddy will be carried out with proper planning and arrangements.”

Outlining the schedule, the Chief Minister said, “Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) will begin from May 15 in all districts, with eight hours of uninterrupted power supply.” He added, “From June 1, paddy cultivation will begin in Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ropar, SAS Nagar, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and Hoshiarpur.”

He further stated, “From June 5, cultivation will start in Faridkot, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Fazilka, and from June 9 it will begin in Ludhiana, Malerkotla, Mansa, Moga, Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Kapurthala, Jalandhar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.”

PM Kisan Yojana: Which State Could Be First to Announce Rs 9000 for Farmers? PM Modi’s Comment Creates a Stir

PM Kisan Yojana

PM Kisan Yojana: In what could be the first for farmers of any Indian state, West Bengal may become the only state where the farmers would receive an amount of Rs. 9000 instead of Rs. 6000 under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, according to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Presently, eligible farmers who enrol in the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana are eligible to receive an annual amount of Rs. 6000. The money is paid to them in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each.

What Did PM Modi Announce?

During a rally in Midnapore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Centre and the state of West Bengal would jointly transfer an amount of Rs. 9000 to each eligible farmer of the state if the Bharatiya Janata Party forms the government in West Bengal. PM Modi made these remarks ahead of the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections.

The Rs. 9000 benefit could be availed ONLY by eligible farmers in the state of West Bengal, and not by all eligible farmers in the country. Farmers of other states would continue to receive an annual amount of Rs. 6000.

How Will This Benefit West Bengal Farmers?

For farmers, an additional Rs. 3000 per year may appear modest at first glance, but it can make a meaningful difference in managing agricultural expenses. Farming involves recurring costs such as seeds, fertilizers, irrigation and labour. The increased financial support would help reduce dependence on informal credit sources, which often charge high interest rates. This, in turn, could ease the debt burden that many small and marginal farmers face.

Moreover, the higher payout could improve farmers’ ability to invest in better-quality inputs and modern farming techniques. With slightly more financial flexibility, they may adopt improved seeds, efficient irrigation systems or even diversify into allied activities like dairy or poultry. Such steps can enhance productivity and income stability over time. Also, a higher guaranteed income support signals stronger governmental commitment to farmers’ welfare, which can improve morale and confidence within the agricultural community.

Officials urged that the existing gender discrimination between men and women must be eradicated. Presently, calculations were based on units where a man was 1 and a woman was 0.8. Moreover, children must be treated as full units and parents of the employee should also be included in the family unit. Officials cited both legal obligations under the Senior Citizens Act and social realities.

Many people often worry about small daily habits and their impact on serious diseases like cancer. One such concern is whether wearing tight innerwear, especially at night, can increase health risks. A recent discussion has once again brought this topic into focus, raising curiosity and confusion among viewers.

In a conversation on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, popular doctor Tarang Krishna spoke about common lifestyle myths linked to cancer risk. One segment focused on tight underwear and bras, and whether they can cause cancer in the long run.

Dr Krishna clearly explained that while extremely tight clothing can lead to discomfort, skin irritation and restricted blood flow, there is no scientific evidence that directly connects tight innerwear to cancer. However, he still advised caution for overall comfort and skin health.

He shared a few important points:

  • Tight innerwear may cause constant friction on the skin
  • It can lead to irritation and deep marks over time
  • Sleeping in uncomfortable bras or underwear may disturb rest
  • Wired bras that cause pain or pressure should be avoided

According to the doctor, repeated irritation in one area of the body is not ideal. It may not cause cancer, but it can create long-term skin-related problems if ignored.

Cancer Awareness And Innerwear Choices

The doctor further suggested simple lifestyle adjustments that may help improve comfort and reduce unnecessary strain on the body. These include:

  • Wearing loose and breathable innerwear at night
  • Avoiding tight bras while sleeping, especially wired ones
  • Letting the skin relax during sleep hours
  • Choosing cotton-based fabrics for better airflow

He also noted that many people wear tight bras throughout the day, which can leave visible marks on the skin. While this is common, doing it daily without breaks may not be ideal for skin health.

From a medical standpoint, experts agree that cancer is a complex disease caused by genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors—not clothing alone.

A report from the American Cancer Society also supports this view, stating that there is no proven link between tight clothing and breast cancer risk.

Myths And Everyday Habits

Myths can easily spread through social media and conversations. Experts stress the importance of relying on scientific evidence rather than fear-based claims.

While tight innerwear does not directly cause cancer, comfort and skin health should still be a priority. Small changes in daily habits may not prevent cancer, but they can definitely improve overall well-being and reduce discomfort.

Anti Aging Tips: Doctor Says Expensive Creams Fail, Reveals 2 Kitchen Foods That Reverse Wrinkles From Inside

Anti Aging Tips Doctor Reveals 2 Kitchen Foods That Reverse Wrinkles From Inside

Many people spend heavily on anti-aging creams, hoping to reduce wrinkles and look younger. But a Delhi-based doctor says the real solution is not outside the skin, but inside the body. According to him, wrinkles form due to internal changes, and fixing them requires a different approach to anti aging.

In a video on his YouTube channel Healthy Hamesha, Delhi doctor Saleem Zaidi explained that external creams cannot stop aging signs completely. He shared an example of a 38-year-old woman who felt she looked much older than her age due to visible lines and loose skin. After following his advice for 30 days, she reportedly saw noticeable improvement using just two common kitchen foods.

Anti Aging Starts From Inside, Not Outside

Dr Saleem Zaidi explains that skin health depends on collagen, a protein that keeps skin firm and youthful. He compares collagen to the foundation of a building. When it is strong, the skin stays tight and glowing.

However, the body naturally produces less collagen after the age of 25. It reduces by around 1–1.5% every year. By the time a person reaches 35, collagen levels may already be significantly lower. This leads to visible signs of aging such as:

  • Fine lines under the eyes
  • Wrinkles on the forehead
  • Sagging cheeks and loose skin

According to the doctor, this is why anti aging solutions must focus on repairing the body from within rather than relying only on surface treatments.

What Causes Early Skin Aging

The doctor highlights two major reasons behind collagen breakdown:

  1. Free radicals
These are harmful molecules caused by pollution, stress, UV rays, and unhealthy diet. They damage skin cells and weaken collagen.
  2. MMP-1 enzyme
This natural enzyme increases with age and sun exposure. Its job is to break down collagen. A study from Seoul National University shows UV rays increase this enzyme, directly accelerating wrinkles.

Because of these factors, external anti aging creams often fail to deliver long-term results.

Anti Aging Solution: 2 Kitchen Foods That May Help

The doctor suggests a simple anti aging routine using two everyday foods that support collagen naturally.

1. Amla (Indian Gooseberry)

Amla is rich in Vitamin C, which is essential for collagen production. It also helps block MMP-1 and protects skin from damage.

How to use:

  • Eat 1 fresh amla daily on an empty stomach
  • Or drink amla juice
  • Or take 1 tsp amla powder in warm water

2. Walnuts

Walnuts support skin health with Omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin E. They help maintain hydration and reduce fine lines.

How to use:

  • Soak 4–5 walnuts overnight
  • Eat them in the morning

Simple Routine Suggested By Doctor

For better results, the doctor suggests:

  • First eat soaked walnuts in the morning
  • After 15–20 minutes, consume amla

He says this simple routine may support skin repair from within and act as a natural anti aging method over time.

Dr Saleem Zaidi stresses that consistency is key. This anti aging routine is not an overnight fix, but may show results in 45–60 days with regular use. He advises caution for people with allergies or medical conditions and recommends consulting a doctor if needed.

According to him, real anti aging care is not about expensive creams, but about nourishing the body from inside.
