Braving the biting cold, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday held a Lok Milni in Jalandhar, directly engaging with people from various Assembly constituencies and patiently listening to their grievances. Emphasising that such direct interaction is central to transparent and responsive governance, the Chief Minister said that sustained pro-people initiatives, ranging from free electricity and large-scale employment to healthcare and education reforms, are steadily easing the burden on common families and firmly placing Punjab on the path to reclaim its position as a frontrunner state in the country.

Interacting with people from various Assembly constituencies of Jalandhar, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Lok Milnis will be a regular feature of governance as they help the government understand ground realities and resolve public grievances effectively. “The basic aim of these Lok Milnis is to resolve issues faced by the people by streamlining the entire process, thereby giving a fillip to the overall development of the state. Our government is fully committed to providing transparent, effective and responsive governance to every citizen,” said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government is making strenuous efforts to ensure the progress of Punjab and the prosperity of its people. “We are working consistently to restore the pristine glory of Punjab. The day is not far when, due to these sustained efforts, Punjab will once again emerge as a frontrunner state in the country,” he said.

Outlining the long-term vision of his government, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that a comprehensive plan has already been rolled out to carve out a “Rangla Punjab” (happy & prosperous Punjab) for coming generations. “My predecessors remained confined to their palatial palaces, but I have been visiting every nook and corner of the state to usher in a new era of peace, progress and prosperity. This campaign will continue in the coming days so that development and prosperity gain further momentum,” he added.

The Chief Minister said that the core purpose of Lok Milnis is to interact directly with people and chalk out a strategy for holistic development. “This programme has no parallel in the country. No other state government spares so much time to solve people’s problems at their doorsteps. Lok Milnis not only ensure quick resolution of public issues but also help assess the performance of government officers and officials,” he said.

Calling it a pro-people initiative suited to present needs, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Lok Milnis facilitate citizens in getting their day-to-day work done with ease while strengthening good governance. “This helps improve the functioning of offices and gives the administration a clear understanding of ground realities. Our motive is to ensure that benefits of government schemes reach people at their doorsteps. We are leaving no stone unturned to accelerate development and enhance prosperity,” he said.

Listing major pro-people initiatives, the Chief Minister said that 90 percent of households are receiving free electricity, significantly reducing financial pressure on families. “More than 63,000 youth have been given government jobs in a completely transparent manner, without recommendation or corruption,” he said, adding that his government has also closed 17 toll plazas, saving the common man around ₹64 lakh every day in toll fees.

On healthcare, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been opened across Punjab, providing free treatment and medicines. “Very soon, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna will be rolled out, enabling cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh. In the education sector too, revolutionary measures have been taken which have attracted national appreciation,” he said.

He further said that 118 Schools of Eminence are being established, which will play a crucial role in securing a bright future for underprivileged children. “Students are being provided free uniforms, and free bus service for girls ensures that no girl is deprived of education. Special coaching is also being given for entry into the armed forces and competitive exams like NEET, JEE, CLAT and NIFT,” said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Highlighting achievements in education, the Chief Minister said that 265 students from Schools of Eminence and other government schools qualified for JEE Mains, 44 cleared JEE Advanced, and 848 qualified for NEET. “Teachers and principals have been sent to world-acclaimed institutes to upgrade their teaching skills. The Sadak Surakhya Force formed by our government has been praised across the country and even in Parliament,” he added.

Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Amroha News: In an act xof broad daylight brutality, a clerk working with a Junior Division Judge has been beaten to death in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

Rashid, a resident of Mohalla Nal, was identified as the deceased. According to the police, the incident triggered after collusion happened between a motorcycle and a car in Hariyana village. Enraged by the accident, the clerk was dragged out of this car by the motorcyclists. He was then beaten to death in broad daylight in the middle of the road.

Didoli Police reached the accident venue and sent the body of the deceased for a post-mortem. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and anger in the area.

Rashid was going in his Baleno car with wife, three children and a nephew to Moradabad. The car collided with a motorcycle as soon as it reached near Hariyana village. The two motorcyclists started fighting and arguing with Rashid after he protested. This was when the motorcyclists made a call to some of their friends. The youths then blocked the path of Rashid when he tried to leave.

The motorcyclists and their friends dragged Rashid out of the car. Thereafter, they started punching and kicking Rashid in the middle of the road. Meanwhile, Rashid’s wife and children kept pleading for them to stop and people to intervene but the youths kept beating Rashid. The youths fled when Rashid became unconscious.

Salman, the nephew of Rashid, remarked the motorcyclists tried to overtake from the wrong side. This was when the car’s bumper got stuck in their vehicle that caused the motorcyclists to fall. He further said his uncle tried to help them by picking up their motorcycle and the matter was resolved. However, the motorcyclists started chasing them and asked his uncle to stop the car. Then, 4-5 youths dragged his uncle out of the Baleno car before beating him brutally.

Salman added that he took his uncle to the Urban Hospital and then to Jeevan Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police remarked CCTV footage from the accident site and surrounding areas is being reviewed. Yadav added that efforts are being made by the police teams to nab the accused at the earliest.

Alwar News: Panic gripped the town of Alwar in Rajasthan after a time bomb-like suspicious object was discovered. Police teams rushed to the scene immediately after they received the information.

According to NDTV, the bomb-like object was found near a house in Sector 4, Vivekanand Nagar on the morning of January 12. Local residents immediately informed the police about its presence. Within no time, Aravali Vihar police station team reached the spot. A timer was found attached to the object upon inspection and it appeared to be a time bomb on initial inspection.

The object was promptly picked up and transported from Alwar city to Jaisamand Dam. It was then placed in an empty area in the middle region of the dam. Jaipur anti-terrorism squad (ATS) was duly informed of the incident. Information about the same was also shared with the bomb disposal squad and other relevant government authorities.

Even after filing the return, it is mandatory to verify it through Aadhaar OTP, net banking, or other approved methods. If e-verification is not completed within the given timeframe, the refund process does not begin.

Here’s What to Do If Your Income Tax Refund Hasn’t Arrived

Another major reason behind delayed ITR refunds is incorrect or unverified bank account details. Refunds are credited only to bank accounts that are pre-validated and linked with the taxpayer’s PAN. If bank details such as IFSC code, account number, or PAN-bank linkage are incorrect, the refund may fail or get stuck.

Tax experts also point out that mismatch in data, such as differences between Form 16, Form 26AS, AIS (Annual Information Statement), and the filed return, can lead to additional scrutiny. In such cases, the Income Tax Department may put the refund on hold until the discrepancies are resolved.

Taxpayers are advised to regularly check their ITR refund status by logging into the official Income Tax e-filing portal. Under the “View Filed Returns” section, users can see whether the return is processed, under verification, or pending due to any issue. According to AajTtak, the tehsildar and the minerals department team went to seize dumpers by stopping them. However, a mining businessman arrived with his henchmen at the scene. He then started threatening to run over the government officials with a dumper. The unchecked video of the mafia is spreading quickly on social media platforms.

The incident is believed to occur near the Jabalpur-Nagpur toll plaza in the Bargi Police Station. The businessman has been identified as Rohit Jain. Rohit has been accused of obstructing government officials and threatening to kill the tehsildar and government officials by ramming a Hyva truck onto them. An FIR has been registered against Rohit Jain and his accomplices.

Soon, a heated argument started between Rohit and the tehsildar. Valid papers were demanded by the tehsildar but Rohit vehemently denied showing any documents. He emphasised that the use of advanced technologies like artificial intelligence can improve disease diagnosis, enhance treatment accuracy, and ensure timely healthcare delivery, especially in rural and semi-urban areas of the state.

The Chief Minister noted that Uttar Pradesh is steadily positioning itself as a hub for AI-driven solutions, not only in health but also in education, skill development, and employment. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has appealed to the people of the state to actively participate in ‘Road Safety Month’, being observed across Uttar Pradesh till January 31, with the aim of reducing road accidents and saving lives. Addressing citizens through his public message “Yogi ki Paati”, the Chief Minister described road safety as a collective responsibility linked directly to the protection of families and the future generation.

CM Yogi Adityanath expressed deep concern over the rising number of road accidents in the state, stating that thousands of lives are lost every year due to reckless driving and disregard for traffic rules. He noted that such accidents often lead to the untimely death of healthy individuals, leaving behind grieving families. Emphasising that this situation can be changed through awareness and shared responsibility, he called upon citizens to adopt safer road behaviour.

Part of the Road Safety Month campaign

As part of the Road Safety Month campaign, the Uttar Pradesh government is focusing on behavioural change among drivers and pedestrians. Special road safety drives are being conducted in 20 accident-prone districts, while over 3,000 accident-sensitive spots have been identified across the state for corrective measures. The campaign is being implemented on four key pillars — education, enforcement, engineering, and emergency care — to systematically address the causes of road accidents.

The Chief Minister stated that while the police will strictly enforce traffic laws, public cooperation is equally important. He warned that using mobile phones while driving, overspeeding, and driving under the influence of alcohol are among the leading causes of fatal accidents. CM Yogi also stressed that helmets and seat belts are not symbols of formality but essential tools for saving lives.

Highlighting parental responsibility, CM Yogi Adityanath urged parents to ensure that minors do not drive vehicles. He further appealed to motorists to remain sensitive towards pedestrians, reminding citizens that roads belong equally to everyone.

Reiterating his confidence in the people of Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi said he firmly believes that with public participation and adherence to traffic rules, the state’s roads can be made safer and more accessible for all.
