Modi said people should vote for BJP to bring an end to TMC’s corruption, fear, jungle raj, unemployment, rioters and infiltrators. Modi announced that he will now return to the state of West Bengal when BJP forms the state government. Expressing high optimism, Modi remarked that he will return for the BJP government’s oath-taking ceremony.

In an interesting development, the sale of orange (Bhagwa)-coloured powder (abir) has grown exponentially in the state of West Bengal.

Several reports from Bara Bazaar in Kolkata revealed that the sales of green powder have declined while the demand for orange powder is rising rapidly ahead of the election result. During elections, heavy orders for colours are received by Bara Bazaar traders. These colours are used by political parties for celebrations.

Traders commented that the demand for orange and green colours in percentages is 90 and 10 percent, respectively. Many in the political circles believe that the BJP is about to bring an end to the long reign of the TMC and Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal.

DGCA Rules: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has tightened rules for foreign airlines operating to and from India. It has now been announced that DGCA would be at full liberty to “suspend or revoke” the authorization of a foreign airline for lapses such as not meeting safety standards. The move is aimed at improving the comfort, safety and convenience for passengers across the country.

It was announced by DGCA chief Vir Vikram Yadav in one of this first orders that a local representative may be appointed or nominated by foreign airlines to deal with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation DGCA.

Revision Of DGCA Rules-What’s New?

Under the revised DGCA Rules, foreign airlines would be required to maintain a complaints’ database, create an effective passenger grievance redressal mechanism and submit regular reports to the DGCA.

The governing body would be at full liberty to revoke or cancel authorization of a foreign airline including control and/or ownership not vested with the designating country or a failure to maintain stringent security & safety standards.

Unless deemed urgent, action will follow consultations with the designating government and an airline’s authorization for an airport would be deemed suspended if it fails to operate schedules to and/or from an airport in the country for 4 traffic seasons.

It was also remarked that all foreign airlines plying in the country should apply for additional flights at least 7 working days in advance while ensuring they are within the approved airports slots and bilateral traffic rights.

Benefits For Passengers

Till now, foreign airlines in India were not covered directly in the same manner as Indian carriers on obligations on passenger complaints. This would help in improving the passenger convenience quotient while encouraging foreign airlines to deliver exceptionally high levels of customer service to delight passengers travelling within or outside the country.

Capital Gains Tax Rules: The Union Government has increased tax on capital gains and tax deduction at source (TDS) requirements for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who want to sell their properties in the country. Will this impact the sale of NRI properties in India?

Capital Gains Tax Rules-Income Tax Act

Under the Income Tax Act, buyers who purchase properties from non-resident Indians are required to deduct tax deducted at source a higher rate, depending on the capital gain, when compared to resident sellers (where TDS is generally 1 percent if the value of property exceeds Rs. 50 lakh).

LTCG And STCG Differentiation & Amount Considerations

A property is considered as a Long-Term Capital Gain (LTCG) if it is sold after being held for a period of more than 2 years. LTCG is taxed at 12.5 percent without the benefit of indexation for all properties bought on or after July 23, 2024. The tax rate may apply at 20 percent with indexation benefits as per applicable rules for properties bought before that date.

On the other hand, a property is considered as a Short-Term Capital Gain (STCG) if it is sold within a period of 2 years. STCG properties are taxed as per the applicable income tax slab rates that can go much higher. Generally, TDS is deducted by buyers at approximately 30 percent for short-term gains.

Depending on the total taxable income of the NRI, surcharge as well as 4 percent health and education cess may also apply. These rates substantially increase the effective TDS deduction while impacting the final amount that is received from the sale of the property in question.

It is widely believed by market experts that the high tax on capital gains and tax deduction at source requirements may affect property sales in the country for NRIs. This is primarily because TDS is usually deducted on the total sale consideration and not on actual profit earned, creating severe cash flow issues for NRIs.

Surat News: In a bone-chilling incident that reminded India of the Meerut blue drum case, a man brutally murdered his wife and then hid her body at an abandoned house in a wooden crate. Surprisingly, the man then went on to file a missing complaint before the police to mislead them.

Surat News-Turn Of Events

Vishal Salvi, a 40-year-old man, decided to approach Surat Police to report that Shilpa Salvi, his wife, had gone missing. A dietician by profession, Shilpa was last seen 4 days as per Vishal’s claims. A routine missing person investigation was initiated by police and a handwritten note that was written by Vishal was recovered from the home of the couple.

The note was found by their minor son and given to the police team. The investigators turned their focus from a case of a missing person to a suspected murder case.

An old and abandoned property was traced by the police team that was linked to Vishal in the limits of the Salabatpura police station.

A foul odour was emanating from a wooden crate in a corner of the room when officers broke the locked house. The decomposed body of the missing woman was found inside the box. Her body had been concealed reportedly with raw cement to hide her identity. It was revealed by preliminary findings that the murder of Shilpa Salvi may have happened 4-5 days before a missing person report was filed by her husband.

Police Reaction

It was confirmed by Senior police officer Kanan Desai that the investigation started soon after a missing person report was filed by the husband. Presently, the woman’s body has been sent for the post-mortem and forensic teams are offering their assistance to collect evidence for determining the death’s exact cause, as per a video shared of the police reaction by News Capital Digital.

According to initial reports, enquiries and statements from acquaintances indicate that the Salvi couple had been undergoing marital discord for long as the husband suspected her of an extramarital affair.

The accused husband is absconding and searches across different locations are presently being conducted by Gujarat Police.

The Bageshwar seer claimed that Shivaji Maharaj told Ramdas Swami that he should handle the kingdom as he doesn’t want to do anything for a few days.

The comments of Dhirendra Shastri were also blasted by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Harshwardhan Sapkal.

Sapkal remarked that hypocritical ‘Babas’ like Dhirendra Shastri should be kicked by people of Maharashtra as they defile the ‘Maharashtra Dharma’. Several social and political organizations across the state of Maharashtra staged protests against Dhirendra Shastri. Maratha organisation Sambhaji Brigade activists staged a protest in Nagpur while Congress party workers rallied in Amaravati; many other protests were held in Solapur and Shirdi.

In a now viral video, a man share a clip in which a young girl in bikini could be seen demonstrating public display of affection (PDA) with acts like kissing to her boyfriend.

The man who shared the clip blasted such acts near the Holy Ganga River. The man said intimacy in public is wrong and added that feminists want to normalize this degeneracy.

A user commented, “There’s a time and place for everything, and sacred rivers aren’t it. People come there for peace, reflection, and faith. Watching couples act like it’s a private lounge is just disrespectful. Public spaces deserve a basic level of decency.” Another user commented, “It’s honestly baffling how some forget where they are.
