Can Eating Watermelon Kill You? AIIMS Doctor Responds After Mumbai Case Triggers Massive Panic

Can Watermelon Kill You

Watermelon suddenly became a topic of fear across Mumbai after a shocking incident involving the Dokadia family left many people worried about eating the popular summer fruit. Social media was flooded with rumours, videos and panic messages claiming watermelon itself had become dangerous. As fear spread rapidly, fruit sellers reportedly saw a sharp drop in sales across several markets in the city.

The panic began after four members of a Mumbai family died within hours of eating watermelon at their home in the Pydhonie area on April 25, 2026. Abdullah Dokadia, his wife Nasreen, and their daughters Ayesha and Zainab reportedly consumed the fruit around 1 AM after returning from a family dinner. Soon after, all four developed severe vomiting and diarrhoea and were rushed to JJ Hospital. Tragically, they could not be saved.

Initially, many suspected food poisoning or chemical ripening agents. However, forensic reports released later confirmed that the deaths were actually caused by zinc phosphide, a highly toxic rat poison. The chemical was reportedly found in both the victims’ internal organs and the watermelon they had consumed.

Watermelon Panic Sparks Clarification From AIIMS Doctor

Amid the growing fear, AIIMS doctor Priyanka Sehrawat addressed the issue in an Instagram video and urged people not to spread misinformation. She explained that sensational rumours spread faster than genuine health information.

According to the doctor, watermelon remains a healthy and nutritious fruit when sourced properly and consumed safely. She stressed that people should rely on verified facts instead of panic-driven social media claims.

Dr Sehrawat also pointed out that watermelon contains high water content and offers several nutritional benefits. She advised people to remain cautious about food hygiene and sourcing, but not to completely stop eating the fruit because of one criminal contamination case.

Health Benefits Of This Fruit You Should Know

Despite the recent scare, watermelon continues to be considered one of the healthiest summer fruits. It is rich in water, making it excellent for hydration during extreme heat.

The fruit also contains vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium and antioxidants like lycopene, which may help support heart health and protect cells from damage. Many nutrition experts also recommend watermelon for digestion because of its water and fibre content.

Since watermelon is naturally low in calories, it is often included in weight management diets as well. Eating fresh and properly stored watermelon can help the body stay cool and refreshed during summer.

The Mumbai incident has certainly raised concerns about food safety. However, doctors continue to emphasise that the real danger came from toxic contamination and not from watermelon itself. Experts say awareness, proper food handling and verified information are the best ways to avoid unnecessary fear.

Pancreatic Cancer: Is Smoking, Family History Or Chronic Pain Silently Amplifying Your Risk? Doctor Uncovers Disturbing Latent Warning Signs

Pancreatic Cancer Is Smoking, Family History Or Chronic Pain Silently Amplifying Your Risk

Pancreatic cancer is often called one of the most silent and dangerous diseases because it grows quietly inside the body. Many people do not notice anything wrong until the condition has already progressed to an advanced stage. A recent post by Harvard-trained gastroenterologist Dr Saurabh Sethi has brought attention to how easily early signs of pancreatic cancer are missed or ignored.

According to the doctor, one of the most alarming facts about pancreatic cancer is that it rarely causes pain in the early stages. By the time discomfort appears, the disease may have already been developing for years. He also explains that early symptoms are often very mild and commonly dismissed as minor health issues. These can include back pain, unexplained weight loss or even new-onset diabetes.

Pancreatic Cancer And Silent Early Signs

Dr Sethi highlights that pancreatic cancer often sends subtle signals that are easy to overlook. New diabetes after the age of 50 can sometimes be an early warning sign because the pancreas plays a key role in insulin production. Another visible but late symptom is painless jaundice, where the skin and eyes turn yellow due to bile duct blockage.

Unexplained weight loss is another major red flag. The body may begin to lose weight due to poor appetite, poor digestion, and internal inflammation. Changes in stool, such as oily or floating stools, can also appear when the pancreas is not producing enough digestive enzymes. However, these signs are often ignored for months.

Risk Factors You Should Not Ignore

When it comes to pancreatic cancer, certain risk factors significantly increase the chances of developing the disease. Family history plays a major role. Having one close relative with pancreatic cancer can raise the risk two to five times, while multiple affected relatives increase it further.

Chronic pancreatitis, a long-term inflammation of the pancreas, is another serious risk factor. Over time, this condition can lead to cancerous changes in the organ. Smoking also has a strong link. Studies show that smokers are two to three times more likely to develop pancreatic cancer due to harmful chemicals entering the bloodstream.

Dr Sethi emphasises that early detection is the only factor that can improve survival rates. Unfortunately, most cases are diagnosed late because symptoms remain hidden for too long. He warns that pancreatic cancer is one of the most serious cancers gastroenterologists deal with, yet it is often not taken seriously until it is too late.

Raising awareness is crucial because recognising early warning signs and understanding risk factors can make a real difference in outcomes.

The buzz started when Sapna Choudhary made an unusually blunt statement during an interview with Filmigyan. Her remarks about love, relationships and emotional freedom quickly caught attention online. Fans began linking her words to her personal life, leading to rumours that all may not be well in her marriage.

Here’s What Sapna Choudhary Said

In the interview, Sapna Choudhary described love in a very different way than expected. She said that love is not something she sees as permanent or defining. Sapna stated, “The way I lived my life, spent my days, or endured it, I would simply say that love is nonsense. Love is nothing.”

She further added that she prioritises emotional comfort and freedom in life. According to her, she chooses to stay where she feels positive energy and distances herself from negativity without hesitation.

The conversation became even more intense when Sapna Choudhary spoke about unconditional love. She said that, in her view, only a mother can truly love a person without conditions.

She explained that expecting the same kind of love from others is unrealistic. Sapna added that emotional control can often be disguised as love, and true love is freedom rather than attachment.

Following the interview, discussions about Sapna Choudhary and Veer Sahu’s relationship happened on social media. While no official statement has been made by either of them, online users have been actively debating whether the couple is facing issues.

Some fans believe her comments reflect personal experiences, while others argue that the statement was taken out of context and reflects a broader philosophy on life and relationships.

Ranveer Singh is back in the spotlight, but this time for reasons beyond his films and larger-than-life screen persona. A viral social media post and multiple online claims have sparked controversy around his alleged behaviour on the sets of Dhurandhar 2, triggering intense debate across entertainment circles.

The discussion began when an Instagram user named Navya Chaturvedi shared her experience of working with the actor during his social media management assignment in 2022. While she described it as a major career opportunity, she also hinted that the experience was emotionally and professionally challenging. Her post quickly gained attention after she mentioned that working behind the scenes was very different from public perception.

Ranveer Singh Accused Of ‘Bad’ Behaviour

In her post, Navya reflected on her early days in Mumbai and how she landed the opportunity to work with Ranveer Singh. She admitted she had little experience but took the chance due to the scale of the project.

One user named Shrenik Shah claimed he had worked with Ranveer Singh during Dhurandhar 2. He alleged that the actor behaved aggressively on set and described the atmosphere as tense.

He wrote, “I have also worked with Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar 2 and spent 3 days with him. He is totally badass in person on set… He was literally shouting at female ADs and treating them all like personal butlers.”

These claims quickly went viral, sparking divided reactions online. While some users expressed shock, others dismissed the allegations and suggested it could be part of a targeted negative campaign.

One user commented, “Negative pr by big actor/producer, probably YRF and SRK.”

Another wrote, “But this can be true .. I have also noticed in one video, he ignored a fellow co-star very badly.”

A third user questioned his reputation, saying, “How can he be the king of Bollywood when he has so many allegations?”

The film had a solid weekend push before entering the weekday phase, where collections naturally slowed down. In comparison, the film had opened strongly with Rs 11.35 crore and maintained solid numbers in its first week, closing at Rs 52.65 crore. While weekday drops are natural, the overall trend suggests that the film still has strong audience support.

Salman Khan’s Special Cameo

One of the biggest talking points around Raja Shivaji has been the cameo appearance of Salman Khan. He appears in the film as Jiva Mahala, adding star power to the historical narrative.

Speaking about the cameo, Riteish Deshmukh shared in an interview that Salman Khan himself expressed interest in being part of the film.

Riteish said, “He (Salman) told me one day that he has to be in the movie. I had not thought about it, but he said – You cannot make a movie without me. I’ve to be part of the film. The character has to be bigger than Salman Khan, and at the same time, the fans should enjoy.”
