Hampton Sky Realty Limited (“the Company”), with reference to recent developments concerning proceedings of the Directorate of Enforcement, places on record the following factual position. The Company reposes complete faith in its established facts, in the legal and constitutional framework of the country, and in the wisdom of the Hon’ble Judiciary.

  1. Mobile Phone Exports – A Thrust Sector of the Government of India

Mobile-phone manufacturing and export has been identified by the Government of India as a flagship priority sector under “Make in India” and the Production-Linked Incentive scheme. India’s mobile-phone export turnover grew from approximately Rs. 1,500 crore in FY 2014–15 to approximately Rs. 2 lakh crore in FY 2024–25 – a 127-fold increase. The United Arab Emirates is the second-largest global destination for Indian mobile-phone exports. Recognising this national thrust, the Company entered the mobile-phone export business in May 2023.

  1. Genuineness of Exports – Independent Verification at Multiple Stages

During the export period, the Company exported 44,471 units of branded handsets and accessories comprising Apple iPhones and AirPods (96.7%), Samsung handsets (3.2%) and OnePlus handsets (0.06%) – all genuine products of leading global manufacturers. Every export was verified at multiple statutory stages by independent authorities outside the Company’s control:

  • Customs physical examination at ACC New Delhi, with Let Export Order granted by the Superintendent of Customs;
  • IMEI scanning of every handset, recorded on the Customs ICEGATE system at the port of export;
  • Cross-verification by the Original Equipment Manufacturers (Apple Inc., Samsung Electronics) against their global activation databases, confirming that the IMEIs were genuine handsets activated outside India after export;
  • Sanction of Duty Drawback / RoSL claims by the Customs Department only after positive OEM verification;
  • Import endorsements by UAE Customs at the destination; and
  • Bank Realisation Certificates issued by the Authorised Dealer Bank against full receipt of export proceeds, uploaded on the DGFT eBRC portal.
  1. IMEI – The Unique Identifier that Settles Genuineness

Every mobile phone manufactured anywhere in the world carries a unique 15-digit International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. The IMEI of each handset exported by the Company was listed on the supplier’s invoice, recorded on the shipping bill, scanned by Customs at the port of export, and cross-verified by Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics against their global activation databases. This verification operates outside India and is not capable of being created, altered or manipulated by any Indian party. The 16,391 IMEIs of handsets exported by the Company stand independently verified by the OEMs as genuine handsets activated outside India after export. This factual position alone establishes the genuineness of the exports beyond reasonable doubt.

  1. All Export Proceeds Received • All Suppliers Paid • Nothing Retained

Every rupee of the export realisation has been received in full through Authorised Dealer banking channels, with corresponding Bank Realisation Certificates uploaded on the DGFT portal. The entire receipt has been paid to domestic suppliers through banking channels for the goods procured. Nothing has been retained off-shore, kept in any concealed account, or routed back to any individual or entity. The receipt-and-payment trail is open, banking-channel and fully reconciled.

This factual position alone disposes of any allegation of “round-tripping” or “bogus exports”. Round-tripping is a financial concept that requires the retention or diversion of funds for the benefit of the alleged perpetrator. In the present case, no funds have been retained by the Company or any of its associates. There is no economic basis on which an allegation of round-tripping can stand.

  1. Supplier-Side GST Concerns – The Company is the Victim

The proceedings refer to GST input-tax-credit concerns relating to a small number of the Company’s domestic suppliers. These transactions constitute only a small percentage of the Company’s total mobile-phone procurement and are entirely on the supplier side. The Company made all payments to suppliers through banking channels with GST duly charged, filed its GST returns regularly, and reflected all transactions on its books.

On its own initiative, when the supplier-side fraud came to the Company’s knowledge, the Company itself approached the police as the complainant by lodging First Information Report No. 0083 dated 17 May 2025 at Police Station Focal Point, Ludhiana, against the said suppliers — M/s SK Enterprises, M/s Global Traders and M/s GMG Tradelink Private Limited — under the Indian Penal Code. The Company is the victim of the alleged supplier-side fraud and proactively reported the matter to law-enforcement authorities approximately one year ago, well before any investigative pressure.

  1. No Loss to the Government Exchequer

Where the Goods and Services Tax authorities have raised concerns regarding input-tax credit, the corresponding GST amount has already been deposited by the Company and is being contested in lawful appeal before the GST Appellate Authority. There is no current loss to the Government exchequer on account of the Company’s transactions.

  1. Faith in the Legal Process

The Company is fully cooperating with all statutory authorities and will continue to do so. All relevant facts, documents and verifiable records will be placed before the appropriate forums in due course of law. The Company has complete faith in the established facts of the case, in the integrity of its statutory records, and in the wisdom of the Hon’ble Judiciary. The Company is confident that the truth will prevail.

ED action against Minister Sanjeev Arora is entirely politically motivated: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) declared the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at Minister Sanjeev Arora’s residence and his arrest as a completely politically motivated act. Condemning the BJP-led Central Government in the strongest terms, AAP said that whenever the BJP sees itself losing political ground in elections, it conspires to crush the voice of the opposition by unleashing investigative agencies against them. The action against Sanjeev Arora is part of that same politics of vendetta.

On this, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated, “Just as BJP misused the machinery of ED, CBI and other central agencies in West Bengal and other states to manipulate elections and form governments, the same dirty game is now being played in Punjab. This is not merely a raid on Sanjeev Arora, but an attack on Punjab and the pride of 3 crore Punjabis. Frustrated by its repeated failures, BJP is attacking Punjab through central agencies.”

Questioning the role of central agencies, he said, “BJP’s sole agenda is to eliminate opposition parties from the country. Earlier Aman Arora was targeted, and now ED has once again been used against Sanjeev Arora. Intoxicated with power, BJP is misusing constitutional institutions to intimidate opposition leaders so that no one dares to raise their voice against it.”

Harpal Singh Cheema added, “BJP’s actions are part of a deep conspiracy to destroy the Constitution framed by Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. BJP is directly attacking the Constitution, something that the Aam Aadmi Party and the people of Punjab will never allow to succeed. The people of Punjab fully understand BJP’s malicious intentions. The 3 crore people of Punjab stand united. No matter how hard BJP tries, it will continue to face crushing defeats on Punjab’s soil. We will strongly oppose this dictatorship and will never bow down.”

Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora stated, “BJP is making desperate attempts to establish political ground in Punjab by misusing central agencies. Astonishingly, this is the third raid at Sanjeev Arora’s residence within a year and the second within just ten days. These raids are not about investigation but are merely politics of intimidation. BJP’s only objective is to scare and defame Aam Aadmi Party leaders.”

Targeting the Central Government, he said, “BJP and its agencies should not remain under any misconception. Punjab is the land of Gurus and martyrs. If even Aurangzeb could not crush its spirit, how can BJP do so? This is the land of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh, whom even the British could not bend.”

Warning against attempts to intimidate Punjab, Aman Arora asserted, “Punjabis can sacrifice their lives out of love, but they never bow before dictatorship. I caution the Central Government and its agencies to refrain from such disgraceful actions. Through these tactics, BJP will neither be able to bend Punjab, nor the Aam Aadmi Party, nor the spirit of 3 crore Punjabis. The methods being adopted by BJP to throttle democracy will ultimately prove dangerous for the party itself. The people of Punjab are watching everything and will give a befitting reply to this dictatorship at the right time.”

Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and AAP leader Deepak Bali stated, “BJP is using central agencies as a shield for its dirty politics, but the revolutionary land of Punjab will never accept this.”

Questioning the repeated raids, AAP leaders said, “ED has conducted raids at Sanjeev Arora’s residence three times within a year and twice within a month. Shockingly, nothing has been recovered despite repeated actions. This clearly proves that these raids are not aimed at investigating corruption, but at harassing the honest soldiers of the Aam Aadmi Party.”

Launching a strong attack on BJP and ED, AAP leaders added, “The alliance of BJP and ED, which is crushing democracy across the country today, will meet the beginning of its end from this sacred land of Punjab. We want to tell PM Modi and Amit Shah to stop indulging in such cheap politics, as it is dangerous for democracy.”

Highlighting the party’s stand, AAP leaders said, “Every leader and worker of the Aam Aadmi Party is serving Punjab honestly under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann. No matter how many raids BJP conducts, we will not bow down. The entire Punjab stands with the Aam Aadmi Party. BJP’s conspiracies will never be allowed to succeed in Punjab.”

Minister Barinder Goyal and MLA Kuldeep Dhaliwal termed it BJP’s “repressive politics” and said, “BJP is playing a game of intimidating opponents and forcing them to join the party, but Punjab will never accept this.”

Launching a sharp attack on BJP, AAP leaders said, “It appears as if the soul of Aurangzeb has entered BJP. Like Aurangzeb, BJP too wants to crush every political opponent. Their only mantra is either join BJP or prepare to go to jail. BJP wants to use the power of the state to threaten and force everyone into its fold.”

AAP leaders questioned the impartiality of ED, stating that Sanjeev Arora is a successful businessman who built his empire through hard work. They asked why ED never raids those who entered politics and looted Punjab while building hotels and businesses worth crores and billions. Why does ED never act against powerful political families like the Badals? This clearly shows that those who looted Punjab are aligned with BJP and ED, while hardworking individuals are being harassed.

Warning BJP, AAP leaders said the Central Government should not remain under the illusion that their leaders will leave the party or bow down out of fear of raids. You already tried jailing Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain and Sanjay Singh, yet none of them bowed down. Neither Sanjeev Arora nor any soldier of the Aam Aadmi Party will be intimidated by such threats.

AAP leaders said BJP has no mass base in Punjab, which is why instead of its leaders, agencies like ED and CBI are campaigning here. AAP leaders added that they are loyal soldiers of Arvind Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann and will give a befitting reply to BJP’s dictatorship.

Millions join ‘Shukrana Yatra’ as Punjab thanks Almighty for historic anti-beadbi law: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann

Renewing his pledge to deal firmly with incidents of ‘beadbi’ (beadbi) and protect Punjab’s communal harmony, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday thanked the people of Punjab for showering immense love and affection during the four-day-long ‘Shukrana Yatra’, which culminated at the sacred land of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.

Addressing a massive gathering after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the holy land of Fatehgarh Sahib inspires Punjabis to fight oppression, injustice and tyranny. He noted that the yatra began from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib at Sri Anandpur Sahib, where the Khalsa was created. On the second day, the yatra paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib, followed by Takht Sri Damdama Sahib and Gurdwara Mastuana Sahib on the third day. He added that after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Dukh Niwaran Sahib and Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, the spiritually enriching yatra had now concluded.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the overwhelming affection shown by people during the yatra had filled the government with even greater humility, responsibility towards the aspirations of the people and accountability to their commands. He said, “Punjabis are extremely happy over his Government enacting the ‘Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act 2026’, which stipulates stringent punishment for beadbi.”

Urging people to go village to village and make the masses aware about the law, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said anyone found indulging in this heinous crime would now be dealt with sternly and punished severely. He said previous governments neither had the intent nor the will to enact a law to stop beadbi due to which desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji became a recurring feature during their regimes. “Now this historic Act passed by the Punjab Government will put an end to this unpardonable offence because no one will dare indulge in such acts again,” he asserted.

Launching a sharp attack on the Akali leadership, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said they ordered firing on innocent people who had gathered to protest against beadbi incidents across Punjab. He remarked that the Akalis should be booked for the “genocide of generations” because the drug trade was patronised under their rule and flourished during their long misrule. He said, “The hands of those leaders are drenched in the blood of lakhs of youth who fell prey to drugs that were supplied in the state even through official vehicles.”

“These sins are unpardonable and Punjabis will never forgive them for their long saga of misdeeds,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, adding that the Akali leadership bruised the psyche of Punjabis emotionally through incidents of beadbi despite repeatedly seeking votes in the name of Gurbani.

Referring to the former Deputy Chief Minister’s claims about development during the Akali regime, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said they conveniently ignored the painful legacy of Kotakpura, Behbal Kalan and other beadbi incidents where innocent people lost their lives. He said Akali leaders mercilessly looted Punjab and committed numerous atrocities against common people during their tyrannical rule.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Akalis patronised mafias in Punjab and ruined generations through drugs and corruption. Taking a jibe at Sukhbir Badal, he said, “The Akalis have completely lost their connect with the masses and now relied on paid workers to create crowds in rallies. In every Akali rally, the same crowd can be seen. He added that those who once claimed they would rule Punjab for 25 years had now been politically rejected by the wise and courageous people of the state.

Coming down heavily on the Akali leadership, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said these opportunist leaders changed colours like a chameleon according to their convenience and political interests. He pointed out that those responsible for beadbi had once appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and admitted their mistakes publicly, but later took a complete U-turn when it no longer suited their political ambitions. “Punjab knows the real face of these leaders who repeatedly misled the people through political gimmicks,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the same people who were once considered invincible today cannot even find five members to constitute a committee for their own party. He reminded Punjabis that these leaders patronised gangsters and shielded drug smugglers who poisoned Punjab’s youth. “People trusted them repeatedly, but they backstabbed Punjab and its people every single time,” he added.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Akalis misused religion for vested political interests and therefore could never be forgiven by the people. He stated, “The AAP Government is fortunate to receive the responsibility of enacting this historic legislation, which would permanently curb beadbi incidents in the future.” He described beadbi as a deep-rooted conspiracy aimed at disturbing peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in Punjab.

The Chief Minister said the law clearly stipulates exemplary punishment for anyone found guilty of beadbi and expressed confidence that it would act as a powerful deterrent in the future. “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is like a father to every Sikh and it is our sacred duty to ensure its sanctity,” he stated, adding that Sikhs across the globe were expressing happiness and gratitude over the enactment of this historic law.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the sole purpose of the ‘Shukrana Yatra’ was to thank the Almighty for blessing the government with the courage and strength to enact this important legislation. Thanking people who gathered in huge numbers despite intense heat, he remarked that unlike leaders who step out of their homes only after checking the temperature, he always remains amongst the people for their welfare.

Referring to opposition against the law, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “It is unfortunate that even now some people continue opposing the legislation. Both the Akali Dal and Congress had approached the High Court seeking cancellation of the law. However, he said the High Court not only dismissed the petition but also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on them and ‘showed them the door’.” He remarked that those opposing the law feared they themselves could be exposed for their involvement in beadbi incidents.

The Chief Minister said Punjabis had trusted these parties in the name of Baba Nanak, but instead they disrespected Gurbani by throwing sacred scriptures onto streets and garbage heaps. He said bullets were fired on peaceful congregations and Sikhs were martyred, yet excuses were made that police could not identify who had fired the shots. “Even after all this, they continue roaming shamelessly amongst the people,” he added.

Taking another jibe at Sukhbir Badal, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said he still walks around proudly saying “let my turn come,” but forgets that he already got five turns in power and Punjabis witnessed all his misdeeds. “Now if any turn comes, it will be his turn to go to jail because Punjabis want justice for the grave injustices committed against them,” he asserted.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “I’m indebted to the people because millions of devotees had prayed for such a law to be enacted. The public response, affection and enthusiasm during the yatra showed that old wounds were finally beginning to heal and Punjabis were feeling peace in their hearts again.”

However, he said some individuals are still opposing the law because they themselves were somewhere involved in these acts. “Anyone opposing this law will effectively be seen as opposing the Guru because such people do not truly love the Guru and there is dishonesty in their hearts,” he stated.

The Chief Minister made it clear that there was absolutely no question of withdrawing the law because all rules and regulations had been framed clause by clause after consultations with Sant Samaj, eminent Sikh lawyers and retired judges across the country. He thanked the sangat for honouring him throughout the yatra and said many people waited for hours due to delays caused by massive crowds along the route.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said people continued standing in intense heat till late at night, for which he remained deeply grateful. Referring to ED actions in Punjab, he pointed out that the BJP does not love Punjab and instead harbours resentment against the state because it was forced to withdraw the farm laws. “PM Modi had taken the setback personally, which was why such actions were now taking place,” he added.

The Chief Minister said Punjab had repeatedly faced injustice from the Centre on issues including Panjab University, Chandigarh, BBMB, SYL, Harike canal, Republic Day tableaux, RDF funds and border area grants. Despite this discrimination, he noted, Punjab continued feeding the nation and this year too would contribute more wheat than expected to the central pool.

Drawing a historical comparison, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann remarked that just as King Porus once stopped Alexander’s advance at Punjab, Punjabis would also stop the BJP’s so-called “victory chariot” if injustice, oppression and tyranny against Punjab continued.

“Every seed can grow in Punjab except the seed of hatred,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann declared, warning the BJP against attempts to spread division in the state. He said, “Creating rifts, riots, violence and firing have become the BJP’s political culture, but Punjab would never allow such tactics of polarisation and communal imbalance to succeed because Punjabis understood the party’s real character.”

The Chief Minister further remarked that some people claim the ISI is trying to disturb Punjab’s atmosphere, but quipped that “the BJP itself is behaving like the ISI.” He said whether it was Haryana, Manipur, Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar or even Gujarat earlier, the BJP’s record remained the same. “They instigate communal tensions, fan riots and then play Holi with people’s blood,” he said, adding that such politics would never work in Punjab because the state had already suffered enough dark days and painful nights.

Taking to X, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated: “Today, with obeisance at the sacred land of martyrs, Fatehgarh Sahib, our four-day ‘Shukrana Yatra’ concluded. Beginning from Sri Anandpur Sahib and passing through various holy sites, we expressed gratitude to the Almighty who gave us the strength to enact a strict law against beadbi. Heartfelt thanks to the sangat for standing with us despite the extreme heat.”

The Chief Minister noted, “The ‘Jaagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act 2026’ has now received the assent of the Governor. Framed after consultations with Sikh scholars and legal experts, this stringent law will ensure that no guilty person can escape punishment. Rumours about the law being withdrawn are completely false. Those opposing it are, in reality, acting against the Guru Sahib.”

“The Centre continues to wrong Punjab on issues like Chandigarh, SYL, BBMB and our tableaux, while weakening democracy through agencies like the ED and CBI. But remember this: every seed may grow on the soil of Punjab, except the seed of hatred. “Your Lok Sewak” will always stand firmly to protect Punjab’s pride, rights and dignity,” the post concluded.

In another post, from his visit to Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated: “Today, during the ‘Shukrana Yatra’, I was blessed with the opportunity to bow my head on the sacred land of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, which stands witness to one of the greatest sacrifices in the history of the world. It is the very place where Mata Gujri Ji, while sitting in the Thanda Burj, gave strength to her beloved Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, to remain steadfast on the path of truth.”

He further stated, “Those young Sahibzadas accepted being bricked alive into the walls, but refused to bow before tyranny. Inspired by that unparalleled legacy, our government has enacted a strict law in Punjab to eradicate the evil of beadbi from its roots.”

“On the land where the Sahibzadas sacrificed themselves to protect faith and righteousness, forgiving those who disrespect Guru Sahib would be the greatest sin. We have brought such a strong law that no one will dare cast an evil eye on Punjab’s communal harmony or on any religious scripture,” the post concluded.

Massive public response marks ‘Shukrana Yatra’ across Punjab

Meanwhile, during the four-day-long ‘Shukrana Yatra’, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann travelled across almost the entire state and received an overwhelming response from people at every stop. Throughout the yatra, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann was warmly welcomed by the sangat and residents, garlanded at various places, honoured with siropas and showered with flower petals as thousands gathered on roadsides to greet him with immense enthusiasm and devotion.

The yatra began from Sri Anandpur Sahib and passed through Bharatgarh, Ropar, Balachaur, Banga and Phagwara on the first day. On the second day, the yatra travelled from Jalandhar through Adampur, Kartarpur, Baba Bakala, Raiyya, Jandiala, Amritsar South, East and Central, Patti, Zira, Ferozepur Rural, Faridkot and Kotkapura before reaching Bathinda via Bhucho Mandi. The third day covered Bathinda, Kotshamir, Talwandi Sabo, Sardulgarh, Mansa and Barnala before concluding at Gurdwara Mastuana Sahib. On Saturday, the yatra moved from Sangrur to Samana, Gurdwara Sri Dukh Niwaran Sahib, Patiala Rural and culminated at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.

Dr Tarang Krishna shared five important markers that are commonly used in medical evaluation:

  • CA-125 is often linked with ovarian cancer risk and may help detect early warning signs in some cases.
  • CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen) can rise in certain cancers and may increase as the disease progresses.
  • CA 15-3 is mainly associated with breast cancer and is useful when a lump or abnormal change is noticed in the breast.
  • CA 72-4 is connected to stomach and colon-related cancers and may be suggested when persistent digestive issues are present.
  • CA 19-9 is used in evaluating pancreatic and gastrointestinal cancers, especially when symptoms continue without a clear cause.

Doctors usually recommend these tests based on symptoms, clinical examination, and medical history. They are not standalone proof of disease, but help in identifying when further investigation is needed.

Medical experts emphasise that tumour markers should always be interpreted carefully. According to the American Cancer Society, most tumour markers are not suitable for general population screening because they can sometimes give false positives or negatives. This means that while such tests can provide important clues, they cannot replace proper diagnostic procedures like scans, biopsies, or physical examination.

Rajasthan News: The Rajasthan Government led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has expanded the scope of the popular Lakhpati Didi scheme. Under the revised guidelines, the interest rate has been reduced to just 1.5 percent while the loan limit for women has been raised to Rs. 1.5 lakh.

The development is likely to economically empower women, especially those living in rural areas, by connecting them with dairy businesses, self-employment and small-scale employment.

The Rajasthan government has now entered into a partnership with Saras Dairy to connect women of the state directly to the market. Under the strategy, women’s self-help groups would now be provided responsibilities like operating canteens and selling dairy products.

Following the announcement by the Rajasthan CM, women of the state would now be able to receive greater financial assistance at highly attractive terms under the Lakhpati Didi scheme. This would help women explore areas such as handicrafts, small business, food processing and sewing.

Saras Dairy Scheme

Under the Saras Dairy Scheme, the products of Saras Dairy would be made available at 273 Lakhpati Didi canteens operating in the state of Rajasthan. The canteens would be selling buttermilk, yogurt, milk, cheese and other dairy products.

This would help women of the state increase their monthly income while also helping them gain access to sustainable employment opportunities and even generate employment for other women. It would also ensure a better and more stretched marketplace for Saras Dairy while offering consumers easy access to premium-quality dairy products at affordable pricing.

Shruti Bhardwaj, the Managing Director of Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF), commented that the Saras Dairy model would help women become an integral part of the entire value chain of the state’s dairy sector while also increasing their active participation in all sectors from marketing to production.

Respiratory symptoms like wheezing are often quickly linked to asthma, but medical experts are now urging caution. A single sound during breathing may sometimes hide a far more serious underlying condition. In a recent video shared on Instagram, former AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria highlighted how doctors and patients should not assume every case of wheezing is due to asthma.

He explained a powerful clinical lesson: not all wheezes indicate asthma. This principle (first mentioned in medical literature by Dr Jackson in the Boston Medical Quarterly) still holds strong relevance in modern medicine. According to him, careful clinical evaluation is essential, especially when symptoms do not improve with standard treatment for asthma.

When Asthma Treatment Fails: A Warning Sign

Dr Guleria shared a case that highlights the danger of misdiagnosis. A woman with breathlessness and wheezing was diagnosed with asthma and started on strong treatment, including oral and injectable steroids. Despite aggressive therapy, her condition did not improve.

Over time, prolonged steroid use led to Cushingoid features, a condition caused by excess steroid exposure. Even after multiple medications and nebulisation, her symptoms persisted, raising doubts about the initial diagnosis of asthma.

On detailed examination in the OPD, a key clue emerged. The wheeze was monophonic, not polyphonic. This subtle difference suggested a possible airway blockage rather than asthma, which usually produces multiple musical sounds in the chest.

Further investigation revealed that routine X-ray and CT scans appeared normal at first. However, a closer look showed a widened carina. A bronchoscopy was then performed, which uncovered a tumour at the bifurcation of the trachea. The diagnosis had been delayed, allowing the disease to progress significantly.

Other Airway Conditions: What Doctors Look For

Experts say distinguishing between different types of wheezing is crucial in diagnosing asthma correctly. Polyphonic wheezing is typically seen in asthma, where multiple airways are narrowed. However, a monophonic wheeze may indicate a single large airway obstruction, which can sometimes be caused by tumours or other serious blockages.

According to a clinical review published by the American Thoracic Society (ATS), persistent wheezing that does not respond to standard asthma treatment should always raise suspicion of alternative diagnoses, including central airway obstruction or structural abnormalities.

While asthma is a common cause of wheezing, it is not the only one. Misdiagnosis can delay life-saving treatment. Doctors and patients should look beyond common assumptions, especially when symptoms persist despite proper care.

In respiratory medicine, careful listening and detailed evaluation can sometimes make the difference between routine treatment and early detection of a serious hidden disease.

UP News: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that app-powered vehicles would soon be strictly monitored across the state. Under the new guidelines, bike taxis, Ola, Uber, Rapido and delivery vehicles would be required to register online while drivers would need to undergo fitness, medical and police verification tests. The revised regulations are likely to be implemented at the end of this month or next month.

In recent years, dependence on app-based transport has grown exponentially in the country. Concerns about passenger safety, driver accountability and regulatory gaps have also increased. In a major policy shift, Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath is now moving to bring these services under a stricter regulatory framework.

New Era of Regulation for App-Based Transport in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is preparing to formally regulate app-based taxi and mobility services across the state under the newly approved Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicles (Aggregators and Distribution Service Providers) Rules, 2026. The move aligns with the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ amendment to Section 93 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, which came into effect on July 1, 2025.

Under the revised framework, all app-powered vehicles including taxis, bike taxis and delivery vehicles will be required to register online with the state Transport Department. This marks a significant shift from the earlier system, where aggregators like Ola and Uber operated with limited direct oversight from state authorities.

The policy was approved by the cabinet led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on March 10, and public suggestions and objections were invited until April 5.

How Will It Improve Passenger Security?

The new rules require drivers to undergo comprehensive medical examinations, police verification and fitness tests before being allowed to operate on aggregator platforms.

Every registered vehicle will also be equipped with GPS tracking systems and panic buttons. In case of emergencies, passengers will be able to alert authorities instantly. Additionally, driver details will be displayed on passengers’ mobile phones as soon as a booking is confirmed, increasing transparency and accountability.

A 24-hour grievance redressal cell will also be established to handle complaints, ensuring that passenger concerns are addressed in real time rather than through delayed processes. Another proposal under consideration is the establishment of designated halts or rest zones for app-based drivers. These spaces would allow drivers to rest between trips, improving working conditions and reducing fatigue-related risks.
