From Offices to Fields: How Punjab’s Chief Minister is redefining Farmer-Centric Governance, Problems being solved immediately

Bhagwant Mann

Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has created a new definition of governance in the state through ‘Our CM – In Our Fields’. This is not just a political slogan, but a ground reality where the Chief Minister himself reaches farmers’ fields and listens to their problems and ensures immediate solutions. In the last 10 months, the Chief Minister has conducted extensive tours of all 23 districts of Punjab and established direct dialogue with more than 3,200 farmers. Under this revolutionary initiative, farmers’ complaints are being resolved on average within 48 hours, whereas earlier this same process used to stretch for 20-30 days.

In the current Rabi season 2025, the Punjab government has set an ambitious target of procuring 142 lakh metric tons of wheat. 4,500 procurement centers have been established across the state where transparent procurement process is being ensured for farmers with a guarantee of Minimum Support Price of ₹2,275 per quintal. Through Direct Benefit Transfer, farmers are now receiving payment within 24-36 hours of selling their crops, and in this season so far, ₹11,400 crores have been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 7.8 lakh farmers.

To tackle the decline in groundwater levels and water crisis, the Punjab government has launched a special ‘Water Conservation and Irrigation Modernization Package’ worth ₹3,200 crores. In the last 15 months, cleaning and repair work of 1,150 kilometers of canals has been completed. Under the ‘Save Water, Earn Money’ scheme, farmers adopting micro-irrigation systems are being given subsidies up to 90 percent. 28,500 farmers have joined drip and sprinkler irrigation so far, resulting in 35-45 percent water savings.

Giving priority to electricity supply in the agriculture sector, the government has started the ‘Light to Every Field’ campaign. Currently, farmers are getting 10-11 hours of electricity during the day, which has a target to be increased to 14-15 hours by December 2025. With an investment of ₹1,650 crores, 4,200 new transformers have been installed and complaints are being resolved on average in 6 hours through the ‘Bijli’ app. The state government is giving an annual subsidy of ₹8,200 crores to farmers for free electricity.

Under the ‘New Agricultural Equipment Scheme’, 50-75 percent subsidy is being given on modern agricultural equipment. In the last 20 months, 46,000 farmers have received subsidies worth ₹820 crores. 8,500 machines have been distributed for stubble management, which has reduced stubble burning by 68 percent. 420 ‘Custom Hiring Centers’ have been opened for small farmers where equipment is available on rent.

Under the crop insurance scheme, ₹285 crores were given to 58,000 disaster-affected farmers within 10 days this year. AI-drones and satellite technology have been introduced for crop damage assessment. Under the ‘Punjab Farmer Prosperity Scheme’, loans up to ₹5 lakhs are available at 0-2 percent interest on Kisan Credit Cards. 3.1 lakh new KCCs have been issued so far and ₹2,100 crores of debt of small farmers has been waived.

4.2 lakh farmers are registered on the ‘Punjab Kisan Portal’ and ‘Kisan Suvidha App’ who can get information about soil testing, crop advice, market rates, and subsidies. 5.2 lakh calls have come on the toll-free helpline and 94 percent of problems have been resolved. 184 ‘Integrated Farmer Service Centers’ have been opened at district level which provide one-stop solutions.

The Chief Minister’s unique initiative is creating a new definition of governance in Punjab. For the last several months, the Chief Minister visits 4-5 villages, drinks tea with farmers, goes to fields and listens to problems, and gives instructions to officials on the spot. Action reports are demanded within 48 hours. These are not formal visits, but a commitment to understand farmers’ real problems and provide immediate solutions. The farmer of Punjab now says with confidence – “Our Chief Minister stands with us”. This initiative proves that when the government gives priority to farmers and is sensitive to their problems, true transformation in the agriculture sector is possible.

Katrina Kaif Pregnancy: ‘Shameful, Criminals…’ Sonakshi Sinha Angry As Media Portal Leaks Private Photos Of Tiger 3 Actor

Katrina Kaif Pregnancy - Sonakshi Slams Media for leaked photo

Katrina Kaif has always valued her privacy, but that boundary was crossed in a shocking and upsetting way today. The actress, who is expecting her first child with Vicky Kaushal, became the centre of an unwanted media storm after a media portal leaked her private pictures online. The photos showed Katrina standing on the balcony of her Mumbai home, and they were taken without her consent.

Sonakshi Sinha And Katrina Kaif Fans Slam Media Portal For Leaking Her Private Photo

This moment sparked outrage across social media, and actress Sonakshi Sinha was one of the first to call out the behaviour. Sharing her disappointment, she wrote, “What is wrong with you’ll????? Photographing a woman in her own home without consent and publishing it on a public platform???? You’ll are nothing less than criminals. Shameful.”

The photo quickly circulated on Reddit as well, and the internet did not take the incident lightly. Fans called out the unethical act and demanded strict action.

Read some online comments below

“Omg, how disgusting are these paps!! A woman can’t step outside on her own balcony for some breath of fresh air. Idiots kahen ke.”

“Disgusting act by Zoom!! They need to face some sort of legal action. Getting papped publicly when one is aware and getting STALKED in their own home is different, and it is disgraceful.”

“It’s high time Bollywood celebrities should start suing these media pages.”

“This is so disgusting, seriously! Media can do anything for clout.”

“Finally I understood the meaning of the word “zoom” in Zoom TV. It’s the camera zoom.”

When Alia Bhatt Faced The Similar Incident

Sadly, this is not the first time such an incident has taken place. In 2022, Alia Bhatt faced a similar situation when photographers clicked her inside her own house while she was pregnant with her daughter Raha. Back then, Alia had also expressed her anger online and wrote, “Are you kidding me? I was at my house having a perfectly normal afternoon… only to realise two men on the terrace of my neighbouring building had a camera right at me! In what world is this okay and allowed?”

Coming back to Katrina Kaif, the actress and husband Vicky Kaushal announced their pregnancy in September with a heart-warming picture. She has been keeping a low profile and enjoying this new phase. Katrina was last seen in Tiger and hasn’t announced her next project since then.

Winter High BP Alert: Why Your Blood Pressure May Climb Quietly Behind That Blanket ? Check Expert Recommended Food To Keep it Under Control

Blood Pressure
Instagram

Winter feels comforting with its warm soups, soft blankets, and slow mornings. Yet experts warn that as temperatures fall, blood pressure levels quietly begin to rise.

The body works harder to stay warm, forcing the heart to pump with extra strength. This subtle shift often goes unnoticed, turning the season of comfort into one of silent strain for many people who believe they’re perfectly healthy.

How Cold Weather Secretly Affects Blood Vessels?

When the air turns crisp, the body reacts instantly. Cold temperatures make blood vessels narrow to hold warmth, which forces the heart to work harder. This added strain raises resistance and can quietly increase blood pressure, even in healthy people.

Cardiologists caution that those with hypertension feel this effect more strongly as circulation slows. Tushar Kaushik suggests adding bananas, beetroot, leafy greens, and berries to help maintain healthy blood flow and heart strength during winter.

Expert-Approved Tips: Keep Warm Without Raising Blood Pressure

As temperatures drop, comfort often overtakes caution. Tushar Kaushik reminds us that true warmth protects the heart. Managing high blood pressure this winter starts with food that maintains balance and strengthens the heart naturally.

  1. Bananas: Their rich potassium content balances sodium and helps maintain steady BP levels through the cold days.
  2. Beetroot: Its natural nitrates dilate blood vessels and improve circulation, easing strain on the heart.
  3. Green leafy vegetables: These nutrient-dense greens keep calories low and minerals high, helping the body manage winter’s extra load.
  4. Berries: Bursting with antioxidants, they fight oxidative stress and support the body’s vascular health.

Together, these foods form an easy routine, simple changes that can prevent sudden spikes while keeping meals warm, colorful, and heart-friendly. Adding light indoor exercise and hydration builds another layer of protection for anyone watching their numbers closely this season.

The Lifestyle Factor: Winter Habits That Worsen the Pressure Problem

Winter brings comfort food and slow mornings, but those same habits can work against the heart. Hot soups often hide extra salt, and reduced activity limits blood flow. Long hours spent indoors raise stress hormones and make people reach for caffeine or packaged snacks. Experts say these small indulgences, repeated daily, quietly push BP higher.

Simple lifestyle shifts, like stretching indoors, cutting salt, and sipping water regularly, go a long way in controlling high blood pressure in winter. Real change comes not from avoiding warmth but from balancing it with mindful habits.

Warning Signs: Subtle Symptoms You Shouldn’t Ignore This Season

Many mistake early warnings for simple winter tiredness, but the body always leaves clues. Watch for these signs before they turn serious:

1. Mild headaches that come and go with the cold.

2. Sudden dizziness after bending or standing up.

3. Persistent fatigue even after a long rest.

4. Episodes of shortness of breath during mild activity.

5. Slight blurred vision or chest tightness.

Each symptom signals the body’s struggle with fluctuating pressure. Experts urge regular checks and timely action as the best ways to control blood pressure before complications arise.

Winter should comfort the heart, not challenge it. Stay active, eat smart, and keep a close eye on your numbers. With mindful habits and real awareness, every cozy night can stay safe, steady, and warm.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process to make it easier for vehicle owners to comply with FASTag requirements. The move comes after several users faced technical issues and confusion while completing the earlier version of the KYV process.

NHAI Simplifies KYV Process to Ease FASTag Compliance

Under the revised procedure, users now need to upload only one front-facing photo of their vehicle that clearly shows the number plate and FASTag. The earlier requirement to upload multiple images, including side angles, has been removed. Additionally, the system will now automatically fetch registration details from the VAHAN database once the vehicle number, chassis number, or mobile number is entered.

NHAI has also instructed banks

The NHAI has also instructed banks and FASTag issuers not to deactivate existing FASTags immediately if the KYV process is pending. Instead, users will receive SMS reminders and assistance from the banks to complete their verification smoothly. This step aims to ensure that no commuter faces inconvenience at toll plazas due to inactive FASTags.

Officials said the simplification will help in improving compliance while also addressing the misuse of FASTags, such as their use on vehicles other than the one they were issued for. The KYV initiative is meant to link each FASTag directly and accurately to a single vehicle, thereby enhancing transparency and reducing toll fraud.

Transport experts believe this reform will benefit millions of daily commuters, especially commercial drivers who frequently travel across states. It is also expected to make highway toll collection more seamless, reduce queues at toll plazas, and encourage more users to adopt digital toll payment systems.

The NHAI has urged all vehicle owners to verify their details at the earliest and contact their issuing bank or customer support helpline in case of any difficulties. With these changes, the authority aims to create a more efficient and user-friendly toll payment ecosystem across the country.
