The Mastiii 4 trailer is out, and the reaction is not what the makers expected. Fans hoped for a fun and goofy comedy. Instead, the trailer drops outdated adult jokes, loud “tharki” reactions and many cringe moments that feel straight out of 2004. It almost felt like a prank — one moment we were curious, and the next we were wishing we had never clicked.

After Masti, Grand Masti and Great Grand Masti, the makers are calling this the “naughtiest franchise.” But today’s Bollywood is changing. We are seeing films like Haq and strong female characters finally getting space. So the big question is simple — do we really need Mastiii 4 right now?

The film seems to normalise infidelity and treat women like objects. Three husbands wanting a “week pass” from marriage is not comedy anymore. It feels outdated and tone-deaf. Bollywood is finally trying to write better female roles, but here we see women again treated as props for bored husbands. Honestly, these men don’t need a break. They need therapy.

The Trio Returns But…

Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani return as the leads. Yes, there is still a loyal audience for the franchise. Some people will watch it for nostalgia. But viewers today are more aware. They do not laugh at sexist humour the way they did 20 years ago. The internet has already called it out.

The trailer tries punchlines that may have worked in 2005. But now they fall flat. The humour shows women as objects and marriage as a burden. There is no smart writing or fresh take. If the film works, it may encourage more such projects. And that is the real concern.

Films shape how society thinks. When movies treat women like jokes, it does harm. Bollywood has moved ahead, and Mastiii 4 feels like a step backwards.

Yes, nostalgia is powerful. But it cannot excuse lazy and dated storytelling. If we keep cheering films like this, we end up telling the next generation that marriage is a joke and women are only props for men’s fun.

Sometimes a franchise needs a reset. And sometimes, it needs to end. Mastiii 4 feels like the second option.

New Delhi – Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has sparked another political controversy as he commented on the presence of dynastic politics.  Tharoor, speaking at a public event in Delhi, had said that “political leadership can be a birthright too, when people vote repeatedly for that kind of leadership.” While he gave the statement with a democratic tone, the comment is viewed as a thinly veiled jab at the Gandhi family’s long-term control over Congress. The timing of his statement has made it the subject of discussion as Congress is approaching very important state elections going into 2026. 

Tharoor said that while dynasty should not be the only criterion in politics, the people’s own willingness to elect and re-elect leaders ultimately grants the dynasty bodies legitimacy. This reasoning has proven controversial and impacted opinions within the political party.

In the film, he plays Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, an ichchadhaari naag (a shape-shifting serpent). The genre is fantasy with a fun twist.

The team announced Naagzilla with a motion poster earlier this year. The Centre has officially approved the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the 8th Pay Commission, paving the way for a significant revision in the pay structure, pensions, and allowances of central government employees and pensioners. This development has generated anticipation across the country as the new pay scale is expected to come into effect from January 1, 2026, following the regular 10-year revision cycle.

Major Salary and Pension Hike Expected for Over 1.2 Crore Central Government Employees and Pensioners

According to reports, the commission’s primary task is to ensure fair compensation for employees in line with inflation and changing economic conditions. It will evaluate the current salary matrix, existing allowances, and pension structures, while recommending revisions that balance employee welfare with fiscal responsibility.

A major focus of the 8th Pay Commission will be the fitment factor, which determines the uniform multiplier applied to existing pay scales. In the 7th Pay Commission, this factor was fixed at 2.57, meaning an employee earning ₹15,000 saw their basic pay rise to ₹38,550. If the new commission recommends increasing the factor to 3.0, the same employee’s basic pay could reach ₹45,000 — resulting in a substantial hike.

The new structure is likely to directly benefit over 50 lakh employees and 70 lakh pensioners, significantly impacting their take-home income and post-retirement earnings. This revision will also influence dearness allowance (DA), dearness relief (DR), and other benefits that are calculated as a percentage of basic pay.

Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry has already raised DA to 58% of basic pay as of July 1, 2025. However, when the 8th Pay Commission takes effect, the DA and DR will reset to zero and then gradually increase again based on the All-India Consumer Price Index (AICPI).

In addition to salary and pension hikes, other components such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and Overtime Pay will also be revised. The government is expected to review more than 100 allowances to align them with current economic realities and job demands.

Financial experts advise employees to plan carefully, as higher salaries also mean higher tax liabilities. Investing wisely and diversifying financial portfolios will be essential to manage the impact of the expected pay rise.

The controversy erupted after Raja Warring said that Boota Singh, who belonged to the Valmiki community and was a Mazhabi Sikh, had a darker complexion but was still appointed as the Union Home Minister due to his service and merit. His comments have sparked outrage across the state, with the Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission taking suo motu cognizance and issuing a notice to Warring.

The AAP has intensified its criticism, with Dhanda and other party leaders accusing Congress of hypocrisy and disrespect toward the Dalit community. The issue is expected to have political repercussions ahead of the upcoming by-poll.
