Islamabad Mosque Bombing: Custodian of Terror Points Finger at India, Deadly Attack Haunts Asim Munir, Shehbaz Sharif Hard, MEA Responds

Islamabad Mosque Bombing
Google

A devastating suicide bombing tore through a Shia mosque in Islamabad’s Tarlai Kalan area on February 6, 2026, killing at least 31 worshippers and injuring more than 160 others during Friday prayers. The attack, one of the deadliest in the Pakistani capital in recent years, has intensified scrutiny of Pakistan’s internal security and counterterror framework.

Suicide Attack During Friday Prayers

According to security officials, the attacker first opened fire on guards stationed outside the mosque before entering the prayer hall and detonating an explosive vest amid the congregation. The blast caused widespread devastation, overwhelming emergency services and nearby hospitals. Medical facilities issued urgent appeals for blood donations as rescue teams worked through scenes described by witnesses as chaotic and gruesome.

ISIS Claims Responsibility

The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the bombing through its propaganda channels, identifying the attacker as a Pakistani national with a history of travel to Afghanistan. Authorities have linked the attack to ISIS networks operating in the region, reinforcing concerns about the group’s continued ability to strike high-profile targets despite repeated security operations.

Pressure Mounts on Pakistan’s Leadership

The attack has placed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir under intense pressure, coming after another major security incident in Islamabad. Critics argue that repeated attacks in the capital expose serious intelligence lapses and raise questions about the effectiveness of Pakistan’s counterterrorism strategy.

While there have been no official accusations against India in connection with the February 2026 bombing, past attacks in Islamabad have seen Pakistani leaders point fingers at “external proxies” without presenting evidence.

India’s MEA Pushes Back

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has rejected such allegations as baseless, stating that they are often used to divert attention from Pakistan’s internal security failures. In this case, no fresh statement has been issued by New Delhi, with investigators clearly attributing the attack to ISIS-linked elements rather than cross-border involvement.

Why Was Master Blaster Vaibhav Suryavanshi Not Picked For T20 World Cup 2026 Indian Team?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The cricket world is still talking about Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s sensational innings in the U-19 World Cup 2026 final. He scored a record-breaking 175 runs and led India to a 100-run victory over England, yet he wasn’t picked for India’s senior T20 World Cup squad. Let’s explore why.

Vaibhav’s Extraordinary Performance

Vaibhav delivered one of the most powerful batting displays ever to be seen in U-19 cricket during the final match. He hit 15 fours and 15 sixes to achieve a score of 175 runs from 80 balls. His performance enabled India to reach 411 runs for 9 wickets, which resulted in an enormous victory. His daring batting style together with his ability to perform under pressure impressed both fans and cricket legends.

 India’s U-19 World Cup Triumph

The Indian team established exceptional standards of performance during the entire tournament. Vaibhav’s final performance brought him both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards. His consistent performance together with his exceptional abilities established him as the most important player of the tournament.

Why Wasn’t He Picked for the Senior Team?

Despite his talent, Vaibhav is only 14 years old. According to ICC rules, a player must be at least 15 to play in senior international cricket. This age limit made him ineligible for the T20 World Cup 2026.

 Age Eligibility: The Main Barrier

The ICC’s age rules are strict to protect young players from pressure at the highest level. Even if selectors wanted to include Vaibhav, the rules didn’t allow it. This wasn’t about skill  it was simply a matter of eligibility.

Toxic Vs Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Clash: Has Yash’s Rs 120 crore Telugu Deal Tilted The March 19 Battle? Here’s What You Must Know

Toxic Vs Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Clash

Toxic Vs Dhurandhar 2 box office clash is becoming one of the biggest cinematic face-offs of 2026. Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Dhurandhar 2) are both locked for a theatrical release on March 19. While early discussion focused on screen sharing in North India, the real contest appears to have started in the South.

Ahead of the March 19 release, Toxic has gained an advantage in the Telugu market. The film’s producers (KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations) have secured a major distribution deal in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This move has given Yash’s film an early lead in the Toxic Vs Dhurandhar 2 battle, especially in the key South Indian belt.

Toxic Vs Dhurandhar 2: Rs 120 Crore Telugu Deal Gives Yash’s Films The Edge

Producer Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations has acquired the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana distribution rights of Toxic for a massive Rs 120 crore, structured as an advance on a commission basis. This deal is being seen as SVC’s biggest acquisition so far for a non-Telugu film. Several big players, including PVR Inox, were reportedly in the race, but Dil Raju ultimately sealed the deal.

Speaking about the acquisition, Dil Raju highlighted Yash’s growing market and the excitement around his return after KGF 2. He said, “Yash stands as a formidable titan of Indian cinema, and post KGF 2, his market has only grown stronger across the world. The audience’s anticipation for his next film after KGF 2 has been building for a while now. With a four-year wait, the buzz and expectations around this film are massive. We at SVC are stoked to present this prestigious project and hope to continue collaborating with Yash on many more films.”

The deal is important not just because of its value, but also because of Dil Raju’s influence in the Telugu film industry. According to a 2024 Deccan Chronicle report, Dil Raju and Allu Aravind control around 400 theatres each in AP and Telangana, while Suresh Babu controls nearly 600. With SVC backing Toxic, the film is expected to get a strong screen presence across the Telugu states.

Who Will Win The March 19 Showdown?

Trade experts believe this development could affect Dhurandhar 2’s performance in the Telugu market unless its makers secure a similarly strong distributor. Past box office numbers support this view. Yash’s KGF 2 earned Rs 137.39 crore in AP and Telangana out of its Rs 1,000 crore domestic total, compared to Rs 182.96 crore in Karnataka. This shows Yash’s solid pull in the Telugu-speaking states.

Toxic was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English and will release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, strengthening its pan-India reach. In comparison, the first Dhurandhar film collected around Rs 65 crore in the Telugu states despite releasing only in Hindi. With Dhurandhar 2 now planned as a multi-language release, its makers are aiming to improve those numbers.

The two films also differ in style and appeal. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is a dark, stylised, A-rated period gangster drama and marks Yash’s return after the KGF franchise. Helmed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 is a high-octane spy thriller featuring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Akshaye Khanna. It has already shown strong early interest on BookMyShow.

Despite rumours of a possible date shift to avoid an Eid-season clash, both teams have so far confirmed their March 19 release.

Ghooskhor Pandat Row: Anurag Thakur Backs Netflix Teaser Ban, Says ‘No Insult To Any Community Will Be Tolerated’

The controversy surrounding Netflix’s upcoming original film Ghooskhor Pandat has grown, drawing strong political reactions and official action. Senior BJP leader Anurag Thakur has publicly supported the Centre’s decision to ask Netflix to remove the film’s teaser and all promotional material.

The government’s move came after widespread outrage over the film’s title, which many called offensive. According to supporters of the decision, the step was necessary to protect social harmony and prevent communities from being stereotyped for commercial benefit.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued formal instructions to Netflix, asking the streaming giant to take down the teaser. Soon after, Anurag Thakur backed the move and made it clear that content which disrespects any religious or social group will not be accepted.

Thakur said the Modi government respects all sections of society and stands firmly for the dignity of every community. He stressed that any attempt to insult or defame a group (including the Brahmin community) crosses a red line. According to him, creative freedom cannot be used as an excuse to hurt social sentiments, and the Centre’s action was both necessary and justified.

Check out his post below:

Ghooskhor Pandat Row: Why the Netflix Film Sparked Outrage

The row began when Netflix announced its 2026 content slate and released a teaser for Ghooskhor Pandat. Almost immediately, the film’s title triggered backlash online. Critics pointed out that the phrase translates to “bribe-taking Brahmin,” which they felt promoted a harmful stereotype.

An FIR was registered at the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow, showing the seriousness of the objections. The issue also reached the National Human Rights Commission, which sent a notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting after receiving a formal complaint.

Due to high pressure, the film’s creators stepped forward to clarify their stand. Director Neeraj Pandey and lead actor Manoj Bajpayee said that Ghooskhor Pandat is a fictional cop drama and does not target any caste, religion or community. They explained that the term used in the title is only a colloquial nickname for a fictional police officer and reflects an individual character, not a larger social group.

Makers Face More Trouble As Title Registration Issue Emerges

Apart from public and political criticism, the makers are now facing trouble on another front. The Film Makers Combine has issued a notice to Pandey’s production house, Friday Story Tellers. The organisation has claimed that the film’s title was not properly registered.

According to the FMC, using an unauthorised title could lead to disciplinary action if the issue is not resolved.

Rose Day 2026 (February 7) is changing the way people gift flowers. This year, Gen Z is moving away from traditional red roses and embracing darker, moodier blooms.

From black-edged roses to holographic petals, the trends are all about gothic romance and bold statements. Urban buyers in India are leading the trend, with online searches for black roses rising 150% compared to last year.

Rose Day 2026: 10 Moody Rose Trends

Deep Burgundy Roses
Rich wine-dark roses like ‘Black Baccara’ have soft, velvety petals. Their near-black colour symbolises mystery and passion. Florists say, “These roses last 7–10 days and pair beautifully with white calla lilies for a dramatic effect.” Perfect for couples who want a bold alternative to classic red roses.

Plum-Coloured Roses
Hybrid roses in deep plum shades, such as ‘Blue Moon’ crosses, bring elegance and a subtle fragrance. Paired with dusty miller or eucalyptus, they create a metallic, moody contrast. These roses last around 8 days, ideal for gothic-inspired evening arrangements.

Black-Edged Roses
Varieties like ‘Naomi’ have creamy petals dipped in black, forming a stunning ombre effect. “Though true black roses are rare, dyed varieties convey farewell, transformation, or bold romance,” experts note. Orders for these edgy blooms have surged 200% this Valentine’s week.

Holographic AND Preserved Roses
LED-lit faux roses in glass domes change colour under light, making them perfect for Instagram posts. Preserved roses, freeze-dried or treated with glycerin, last 1–3 years and are eco-friendly. They offer long-lasting alternatives to fresh flowers without losing style.

Sunset Ombre Roses
Roses with peach-to-crimson gradients mimic a twilight sky. These photogenic blooms are popular among eco-conscious couples for Instagram-worthy gifts.

Heavy-Petaled And Fragrant Varieties
David Austin’s 2026 roses like ‘Living the Dream’ have 70+ petals and a citrus-myrrh fragrance. They mix luxury and modern durability, adding scent and depth to gothic bouquets.

Crimson Monochromes & Teal Accents
Deep red roses paired with teal foliage create a dramatic contrast. Florists say these combinations are highly sought after for moody, story-like floral arrangements.

Self-Cleaning Landscape Roses
Low-maintenance black-plum roses drop petals naturally and bloom repeatedly. They are perfect for gothic-inspired gardens without daily upkeep.

Experts note that red roses still make up 60% of the market, but moody, gothic-inspired arrangements grew 25% this year. In Mumbai, black or holographic rose orders for Rose Day 2026 increased by 40%. This year, it’s not about tradition, but making an unforgettable statement.

CM Bhagwant Mann

Placing culture at the centre of Punjab’s identity and continuity, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to preserving the state’s rich civilisational heritage for future generations, while addressing the Mahinder Singh Randhawa Literature and Arts Festival in Chandigarh.

Paying tribute to Dr Mahinder Singh Randhawa’s role in shaping modern Punjab after Partition and leading the Green Revolution that saved India from famine by keeping the farmer and grain at the centre, the Chief Minister emphasised that promoting the Punjabi mother tongue, literature and culture is a shared societal duty and not a political act.

Addressing the festival,CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Punjab, since its inception, has been a cradle of civilization. It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that we have inherited a glorious cultural heritage along with an unmatched spirit of hard work and resilience.” He said that preserving and celebrating this legacy was essential to ensure that the coming generations remain rooted in their cultural ethos.

Expressing gratitude to the officials of the Punjab Arts Council for organising the festival, the Chief Minister said, “Such endeavours are the need of the hour to keep our younger generations aware of and connected with our rich culture.” He said that platforms like this festival play a crucial role in sustaining Punjab’s literary, artistic and cultural traditions.

Recalling the life and legacy of Dr Mahinder Singh Randhawa, the CM Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that the event had been organised to honour a personality who had sown seeds of hope in the fields of Punjab. “Remembering Dr Mahinder Singh Randhawa from the depths of my heart, I consider him the architect of modern Punjab’s destiny after the 1947 Partition,” he said.

He believed that if a nation’s stomach is empty, it cannot fight, but if its soul is empty, it cannot live.” the CM said that guided by this understanding, Dr Randhawa established the Punjab Agricultural University on one hand, while on the other he set up the Chandigarh Art Gallery and cultural centres across Punjab.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Whenever we recall the Punjab Agricultural University, our farmers, our litterateurs, and the people displaced during the 1947 Partition, one name that comes to mind, holding their hands, is Dr Randhawa.”

He described Dr Mahinder Singh Randhawa as the pioneer of the Green Revolution in Punjab and said that due to his farsighted vision, Punjab saved India from famine during a critical period. “Thanks to Dr Randhawa, the focal point of the Green Revolution was always ‘grain’ and ‘farmer’,” he added.

Stressing that the programme was not a political gathering, the Chief Minister said, “Today’s event is a celebration of the development of the Punjabi mother tongue and language.” He asserted that every individual must promote their mother tongue through every possible medium and said that the state government is duty bound to work tirelessly for this noble cause.

Recalling the influence of literature and culture on his own life, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that poetry, literature, art and culture had played a profound role in shaping his thinking and journey. He also recalled eminent literary and cultural figures including Sant Ram Udasi, Devinder Satyarthi, Rasool Hamzatoz, Narinder Kapoor, Keats, Shiv Batalvi and others, acknowledging their immense contribution to the fields of literature, art and culture.

SIR in MP News: Names Will Not Be Deleted Over Partial Errors in Name or Age, Notices Issued to Over One Crore Voters

UP SIR Draft List

In a major relief to voters, the Election Commission has clarified that no voter’s name will be removed from the electoral roll in cases of partial errors, such as discrepancies in name, surname, parents’ names or age, during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Madhya Pradesh.

Names Will Not Be Deleted Over Partial Errors in Name or Age

The clarification comes amid concerns after notices were issued to more than one crore voters in the second phase of the SIR for discrepancies detected in their electoral details. Officials said voters had expressed apprehension that failure to rectify these errors in time could lead to deletion of their names from the rolls.

Notices Issued to Over One Crore Voters

According to the Election Commission, such fears are unfounded. Clear instructions have been issued that voters with partial or technical errors must not be removed from the electoral list. Instead, their details will be corrected after verification.

As part of the process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification. If the BLO is satisfied after examining the documents and information provided by the voter, a detailed report will be submitted, following which necessary corrections will be made. The correction process is scheduled to be completed by February 14, while the final publication of the voter list will take place on February 21.

Officials said the notices were generated by software that flagged inconsistencies in voter records, including incomplete enumeration forms and mismatches in personal details. Voters were asked to submit supporting documents to facilitate correction.

Notably, after a gap of 22 years, Madhya Pradesh witnessed a comprehensive SIR exercise, during which a draft electoral roll was published after removing over 42 lakh names. The draft list currently includes 5,31,31,983 voters. Out of these, 1,01,33,741 voters received notices due to incomplete or erroneous details.

The Election Commission said the objective of the SIR exercise is to ensure an accurate and error-free voter list, while safeguarding the voting rights of eligible citizens. Officials have urged voters to cooperate with BLOs and complete the verification process within the stipulated timeline.

Year-long congregations to be organised on 650th Guru Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji; CM Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurates the celebrations

Bhagwant Mann

Marking a decisive institutional commitment to the legacy of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji, the Punjab government on Friday formally launched year-long celebrations for the 650th Guru Purb, laying out a clear sequence of religious, cultural and academic initiatives that will run across the state until February 20, 2027. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the commemorations with the announcement of sustained congregations, Sant Sammelans, katha-kirtan programmes, conventions and university-level seminars, while simultaneously unveiling major infrastructure commitments including the expansion of a Sri Guru Ravidass Memorial at Khuralgarh and the establishment of a Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Research Centre near Dera Ballan at Jalandhar.

Stressing that financial constraints would not be allowed to dilute the scale or spirit of the observances, the Chief Minister assured that all directions of the Sant Samaj would be fully implemented, situating the year-long religious programme within the broader governance framework of the AAP government that prioritises education reform, expanded public healthcare with cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh, and policy decisions guided by public welfare.

Addressing the state-level function organised to commemorate the 649th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann congratulated the Sangat and said, “It is our collective duty to spread the message of Guru Ji across the globe. Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji envisioned an egalitarian society free from all forms of discrimination.”

Describing himself as a humble participant in the sacred congregation, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann assured that “the state government will leave no stone unturned to celebrate the upcoming 650th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji in an unsurpassed manner.”

Recalling recent initiatives, the Chief Minister said, “The state government has recently commemorated the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji through a series of events. Likewise, year-long programmes have been chalked out to celebrate the 650th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji in an unprecedented manner.” He added that he felt blessed to be connected to this sacred land, noting that “Guru Ji delivered a powerful message of equality from here and spent more than four years at this place.”
