The water level in the Bhotekoshi River has increased yet again, hence, Nepal‘s disaster management department issues another warning to those who live nearby and to the rescue teams working in affected areas. It is said that several regions in Nepal are now vulnerable to the occurrence of flash floods, and authorities warn about the possibility of increasing water levels in rivers and streams in several districts.

Thousands Remain Missing as Rescue Efforts Face Tough Conditions 

As can be seen, the number of those missing is still very big  more than 3,000 people are missing in Nepal and Tibet. It was reported that hundreds of people have died in catastrophic flash floods and mudslides. Toxic Box Office Collection Day 5:Yash’s action drama pulled in an estimated ₹23 crore net in India on Sunday, its fifth day in theatres, across 16,241 shows. That’s an 8.5 per cent dip from Saturday’s ₹25.15 crore, marking the film’s lowest single-day domestic collection since release. Occupancy still improved slightly to 25.3 per cent, up from 24.3 per cent a day earlier, even as show count kept shrinking from a peak of 24,579 on opening day.

From a Rs 100 Crore Opener to a Steady Decline

The five-day trend tells the story clearly. Toxic opened at ₹101.10 crore, then dropped to ₹37.65 crore on day two, ₹27.20 crore on day three, and ₹25.15 crore on day four, before Sunday’s ₹23 crore. The film has now crossed ₹214 crore net and roughly ₹256 crore gross in India, with its Hindi version alone breaching the ₹100 crore net mark within four days, Yash‘s biggest-ever Hindi opening run.

Worldwide Total Closing In On ₹300 Crore

Overseas collections added another ₹2 crore on day 5, pushing the international gross to ₹29.25 crore and the worldwide total to ₹285.20 crore, less than ₹15 crore short of the ₹300 crore milestone. That keeps Toxic among 2026’s stronger performers, though it still trails Ram Charan’s Peddi, which crossed ₹315 crore worldwide in the same window.

What Comes Next

With weekday collections typically falling further after the opening weekend, the real test for Toxic will be whether it can sustain enough momentum on weekdays to build a strong lifetime total, or settle into the front-loaded pattern common to big-star openers once the extended first weekend wears off.

Investigators say CCTV footage and local inquiries quickly identified four shooters fleeing on two bikes. Shamli SP Narendra Pratap Singh described mobilising the SWAT team, surveillance unit, all station house officers, and senior city and Kairana officials to the case, then ordering a midnight-to-6 AM blockade to seal the district.

“I had ordered the implementation of a blockade plan from midnight to 6.00 AM to ensure no vehicle could enter the district.”

That containment strategy trapped two of the accused, Sumit and Mohit, both residents of Sonipat in Haryana, during a routine checkpoint sweep near an Indian Gas godown on Kairana Road.

The Encounter Itself

Police allege the two suspects opened fire on personnel when confronted, injuring two SWAT head constables, Harvinder and Pradeep, before retaliatory firing left both men dead. They were taken to District Joint Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Two pistols, live cartridges, and spent 30-bore casings were recovered from the site.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday inaugurated the first-ever franchise-based Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cricket League, describing the tournament as a major platform to provide budding cricketers of the state with greater opportunities to showcase their talent, gain exposure and advance in the sport. The inaugural edition, being organised by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), will feature six teams and run till September 13 at the PCA Cricket Stadium, Mohali.

Interacting with the players and organisers, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the league would give talented cricketers from Punjab an opportunity to compete on a major platform and learn alongside established players. “Sher-e-Punjab T20 League is being organised to promote cricket in Punjab and provide greater opportunities to talented cricketers to advance in the sport. The league is being organised for the first time by the Punjab Cricket Association on the lines of the IPL,” he said.

The inaugural ceremony was held on Sunday, with the first match of the tournament being played between Amritsar Soormas and Mohali Kings. The league will continue for two weeks, with the final scheduled for September 13. All matches are being played at the PCA Cricket Stadium in Mohali.

Punjab emerging as a powerhouse of Indian cricket

Highlighting Punjab’s immense contribution to Indian cricket, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the state has consistently produced players who have gone on to represent the country at the highest level. “Today, it is a matter of immense pride for Punjab that the captains of both the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams are from Punjab, Shubman Gill and Harmanpreet Kaur respectively. As many as 21 players from Punjab are currently playing in the IPL.”

He said the Indian men’s cricket team currently has four players from Punjab, including captain Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar.

Recalling the state’s rich cricketing legacy, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said Punjab has produced legendary cricketers including Lala Amarnath, Bishan Singh Bedi, Mohinder Amarnath, Yashpal Sharma and Yuvraj Singh. He said the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League would further strengthen this legacy by creating a dedicated platform for the next generation of cricketers.

The Chief Minister said the state government is leaving no stone unturned to promote sports and create better sporting infrastructure across Punjab. “Sports is the most lethal weapon against the war on drugs. That is why the state government is laying special thrust on sports and providing youngsters with opportunities to channelise their energy in a positive direction,” he said.

He said 3,100 playgrounds are being constructed across the state to promote sports at the grassroots level and encourage youngsters to take up sporting activities.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab Government has made the highest-ever budgetary provision for sports in the state, which is helping provide better facilities and opportunities to players. He said the results are already visible, with players from Punjab bringing laurels to the state in different sporting disciplines.

Khedan Watan Punjab Dian to be held from Bathinda on September 5

The Chief Minister further said that his government will organise the biggest sports extravaganza, Khedan Watan Punjab Dian, from Bathinda on September 5. “Three generations of players will participate in this sporting event, making it a unique celebration of Punjab’s sporting spirit,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the government’s initiatives were aimed at creating a strong sporting culture across the state and ensuring that Punjab’s youngsters get adequate platforms to pursue excellence in sports.

On the occasion, Lok Sabha Member Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and other dignitaries were also present.

Six franchise teams are participating in the inaugural edition, with leading cricketers from Punjab at the helm of each team. Fazilka Falcons are captained by Shubman Gill, Ludhiana Lions by Arshdeep Singh, Amritsar Soormas by Abhishek Sharma, Jalandhar Warriors by Prabhsimran Singh, Mohali Kings by Ramandeep Singh and Bathinda Royals by Gurnoor Brar.

The league also features prominent Punjab cricketers including Anmolpreet Singh, Mayank Markande, Naman Dhir, Vihaan Malhotra, Imanjot Singh Chahal, Ashwani Kumar and Krish Bhagat. Out of a pool of more than 450 players from Punjab, 119 players have been selected through an auction to represent the different franchises.

Its brave people have always stood as defenders of the nation against both external and internal threats, and this has given the people of Punjab their fighting spirit. Having weathered many storms over thousands of years, the land of Punjab has retained its resolute, resilient and sturdy character,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that alongside Punjab’s courage and resilience, its secular and inclusive character is another defining feature of its identity. “Another riveting characteristic of Punjab is its truly secular character, which is deeply embedded in its psyche and forms an integral part of its cultural ethos. The values of communal harmony, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect have always been central to the social fabric of Punjab,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the Punjab Government is committed not only to accelerating development but also to strengthening the moral and social foundations of society, particularly among the youth. “Apart from making overall progress in development-oriented sectors, one of the missions of our Government is to further strengthen social, moral, ethical and national values, especially among our youth.
