The format symbolised national unity by connecting students from the north, south, east, west, and central India simultaneously.

One of the most notable moments came from Guwahati, where students interacted with the Prime Minister aboard a cruise on the Brahmaputra River, highlighting the programme’s effort to blend regional identity with national dialogue.

During the interactive sessions, PM Modi addressed exam stress, time management, mental wellness, leadership, and goal-setting. RBI MPC: The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) in a unanimous decision that came as no surprise to the Indian markets has decided to maintain the status quo. The policy repo rate would remain unchanged at 5.25 percent. The standing deposit facility (SDF) stays at 5 percent while the bank rate and the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate stand firm at 5.5 percent.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation is projected at 2.1 percent for 2025-26 with Q4 at 3.2 percent. CPI inflation for next year’s Q1 and Q2 are projected at 4.0 and 4.2 percent, respectively. On a daily average basis, system liquidity stood at a surplus of 70,000 crore. This brought delight for the Indian markets and Sensex.

RBI governor Sanjay Malhotra remarked that the neutral stance of RBI reflects its cautious navigation via a complex economic landscape. The central bank has signalled confidence in the present-day trajectory while keeping options open for future tweaks.

Implications of the Unchanged Repo Rate

RBI has delivered immediate relief to borrowers by keeping the repo rate frozen at 5.25 percent. Personal loan and home loan EMIs would remain unchanged. On the other hand, businesses with floating rate loans would be able to avoid any form of cost escalations. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that rely heavily on bank credit would get the much-needed stability to expand without rate shocks.

The neutral stance prioritizes growth over aggressive inflation control.

How The Rate Path Of RBI Compares Internationally?

This year, major central banks have not observed a single common direction. In the recent past, a broad shift toward easier policy has been the go-to mantra for many economies of the world this year. For instance, the United States Federal Reserve reduced its benchmark rate by 25 basis points in the later half of 2025. Currently, it stands at 3.50-3.75 percent after tightening earlier.

The key rate has been kept at 3.75 percent by the Bank of England (BoE). Policymakers are closely split on future cut timings amid softening growth forecasts. Rajpal Yadav Cheque Bounce Case Leads To Jail Term

The case is linked to a cheque bounce dispute involving unpaid dues of around Rs 9 crore owed to M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. The issue dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav took a loan to produce his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. When he failed to repay the amount, several cheques issued by him bounced.

This led to his conviction in seven cheque dishonour cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. Although the court sentenced him to six months in jail, the punishment was temporarily suspended in 2024. The relief was granted to allow time for an out-of-court settlement.

However, the court later withdrew this relief after Yadav failed to meet multiple payment deadlines. By early 2026, records showed that only about Rs 2.5 crore had been paid against a total liability of Rs 11.9 crore.

During the final hearing, the High Court expressed serious concern over his conduct. The court stated that his behaviour “deserved to be deprecated” due to repeated and “consistent non-compliance.”

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma noted that Yadav had taken 15 to 20 extensions over the years but failed to honour commitments, even after giving personal undertakings in court. The judge added that the law rewards compliance, not contempt, and warned against setting a wrong public example.

On the day of his surrender, Yadav’s legal team made a final mercy plea. They offered to pay Rs 25 lakh immediately and requested more time for the remaining amount. The court refused to recall its order and made it clear that the actor must serve his sentence first. Rajpal Yadav surrendered to the Jail Superintendent at around 4:00 PM.

Infusing governance with devotion and social resolve, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday reaffirmed that the Punjab Government is duty bound to carve an egalitarian society rooted in the timeless teachings of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj.

Speaking ahead of the state-level Parkash Purab celebrations at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, the tap asthan of the revered Guru ji, the Chief Minister said that the entire Punjab Cabinet would join the Sangat on February 6 to pay homage with full religious fervour and enthusiasm.

Describing the bani of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji as a lighthouse for humanity and a guiding force to eradicate social evils, the Chief Minister said the Guru Ji’s vision of a society free from suffering, inequality and discrimination continues to inspire Punjab’s collective conscience. He also highlighted the world-class memorial constructed at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib at a cost of ₹148 crore as the state government’s humble tribute to Sri Guru Ravidass Ji’s enduring legacy of equality, compassion and human dignity.

On Thursday, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “The Punjab Government is duty bound to carve out an egalitarian society as preached by Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj ji. To perpetuate the great legacy of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj ji, the Punjab government is organising a state-level function at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib in Hoshiarpur district on February 6.”

He said that the teachings of the great Guru can play a pivotal role in emancipating society from the problems it is currently confronting.

He said that Sri Guru Ravidass ji gave the message of welfare of the entire humanity and equality of all sections of society, thereby laying the foundation for a society based on egalitarian values.

The Chief Minister further said that Sri Guru Ravidass ji envisioned an ideal society where no one suffers any kind of discrimination or deprivation. “Sri Guru Ravidass ji laid out the concept of such an ideal society where nobody undergoes suffering of any kind,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, adding that the life, philosophy and teachings of the great Guru continue to guide humanity.

Describing Sri Guru Ravidass ji as a towering spiritual figure, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he was a great spiritual ambassador and a messiah of the poor and underprivileged sections of society. “Sri Guru Ravidass ji taught us to lead a virtuous and noble life, and his teachings continue to inspire generations,” the Chief Minister said.

8th Pay Commission: The Central Government has finally appointed the 8th Pay Commission Director, almost one year after the 8th CPC announcement. The delayed hiring decision has generated more anger and frustration than relief. Ashish Yadav has now been appointed as the 8th CPC director on a deputation basis.

8th Pay Commission-Hiring Order

The director’s hiring order has now been stated in the office memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

The appointment has been made by the Central Government under the Central Staffing Scheme. The hiring order specifies that Ashish Yadav has to join within a period of three weeks else debarment proceedings would be initiated against him. The Federation is furious that at one time the government is acting strict on paperwork but the ground-level preparations at the same time appear to be bleak.

Dr. Manjeet Patel, National President of the All India NPS Employees Federation, remarked that the basic infrastructure, office setup and staffing would now initiate after the director’s name has been finalized. Patel added it would take several months at this pace just to get started with work. He went on to remark that the ‘ease of governance’ exists only in speeches but not in reality.

Patel demanded direct and quick intervention from the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He commented that PM Modi should immediately issue directions so that the 8th CPC could start work at war footing else millions of central government employees and pensioners would not be able to get their dues on time.
