In a social media post, Singh said that free treatment under the Health Card scheme, along with free medicines and diagnostic tests at Aam Aadmi Clinics, is providing relief to people across Punjab.

Balbir Singh said healthcare remains a priority for the Punjab government and that efforts are being made to bring essential medical services closer to people.

According to the minister, beneficiaries can access free treatment through the health card facility, while Aam Aadmi Clinics provide medicines and diagnostic testing facilities without charge.

The minister said the government is working continuously to improve access to healthcare services and reduce concerns over treatment expenses.

Crude Oil Price: Oil was trading at a high of more than $100 per barrel as markets weighed the prospects of improving supply from Saudi Arabia with ongoing risks around the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude was trading at about $ 103 per barrel on September 30 with Iran-related geopolitical unrest affecting the transportation route.

Oil prices stay elevated

On Wednesday, September 30, Brent futures for November expiry were around $103.30 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude stood at around $89.81 per barrel. Brent was also on track for a solid monthly rise as geopolitical events affected the oil markets. This occurred even as evidence mounted that oil shipments from the Gulf were recovering. The net effect was that the market was actually receiving more crude, and the security of those key shipping lanes kept prices buoyant.

Saudi supply begins to recover

Saudi Arabia has restarted its East-West pipeline from its Red Sea port of Yanbu to resume crude loadings. The pipeline is significant since it enables the kingdom to export its crude by sea without fully relying on the Strait of Hormuz. The East-West pipeline has returned to nearly 50 percent. The flows on the East-West are about 3.5 million barrels per day, with a capacity of roughly 7 million. This restarted flow has contributed to easing expectations of regional oil availability.

Hormuz remains a key risk

While Saudi exports have improved, the Strait of Hormuz continues to pose significant concerns for the world oil market. While the exports from the Middle East have gone up, total flows are still well below pre-conflict levels.Gulf states exported an average of 15.5m barrels per day in September, just over 80% of pre-war levels, the Financial Times said. From the outset of the war, it was clear the export levels would plummet. Saudi exports have rebounded also, as ships found other routes. Nevertheless, the escalation of such attacks and commercial shipping in the region ensures that the market is now getting nervous for any other form of disturbance.

CSMT was one of the sites attacked during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, which makes it closely tied to the film’s story. The makers chose the station for what is being described as a first-of-its-kind trailer launch for a Hindi film.

What Fadnavis Said

Fadnavis thanked Maddock Films for taking up such an important subject. He said the country could have chosen a quick and harsh end for Kasab, but the police and the justice system instead showed the world that India follows the rule of law. There was no kangaroo court, he added. Guilt was proved through evidence and witnesses.

He also thanked special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, saying Nikam not only secured a hanging for the terrorist but also exposed the wider conspiracy behind the attack. Fadnavis praised Rajkummar Rao as an accomplished actor and urged every Indian to watch the film, calling it more than entertainment.

About The Film

Prahaar is directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. Rajkummar Rao plays Nikam, while Lalit Prabhakar is seen as Kasab. Wamiqa Gabbi and Jaideep Ahlawat also feature in pivotal roles. The trailer opens with Nikam asking a young girl what she saw that night, and later shows Kasab claiming he came to Mumbai as a tourist.

Former Union minister and retired IAS officer R.K. Singh has launched a sharp attack on Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. In an open letter shared on social media, Singh accused the poll body of violating the law and pushing millions of eligible voters off the rolls.

What Singh Says The Law Requires

Singh pointed to Sections 21 and 22 of the Representation of the People (RP) Act. He argued that a special revision is meant to be an exception, not a rule for the whole country. He also said only the Electoral Registration Officer can remove a name, and only on the grounds listed in the law and after a specific enquiry.

The 13 Crore Claim

Singh alleged that around 13 crore names, roughly 13 per cent of voters, have been deleted so far, and that the SIR is not yet over. He said many were removed without any inquiry or chance to respond, and that affected people had to apply again as new voters. This 13 crore figure is Singh’s claim, and the Congress has made a similar allegation.

Questions He Wants Answered

Singh asked whether the decision to hold the SIR nationwide was taken by the full Election Commission or by Kumar alone. He also questioned the use of a centralised digital roll that can reject names over “logical discrepancy”, when the law names the registration officer as the only authority. He asked how elections were held while lakhs of appeals were pending, and claimed that about 90 per cent of appeals decided so far show the excluded voters were valid.

Impact On The Poor

Singh said the exercise hurts poor people, migrants and marginalised communities the most. He also raised concern that changes to Form 6, used to register new voters, could create hurdles for young people.

Tukaram Mundhe, the Commissioner of Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is back in the spotlight. A video from Pune showed an entire auditorium rising to give him a standing ovation, and it has pushed his famous nickname, “Singham”, into headlines again.

Why Is He Called Singham?

The nickname comes from the Bollywood film character played by Ajay Devgn, an honest police officer who takes on the corrupt without fear. Supporters use it for Mundhe because of his strict, rule-first style. He is known for acting against sand mafias, land mafias and corrupt officials without bowing to political pressure. Some also call him “Man of Mission”.

From Beed Village To The IAS

Mundhe was born on June 3, 1975, in Tadsona village in Maharashtra’s Beed district, into a farming family. He cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination in 2004 with an All India Rank of 20. He joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 2005 in the Maharashtra cadre, starting as a supernumerary assistant collector in Solapur.

25 Transfers In 21 Years

His firm approach has come at a cost. Reports say he has been transferred around 25 times in about 21 years of service. One of his recent moves left him without a posting for nearly a month before the government named him FDA commissioner. Yet each time, he is said to have kept the same working style.

The FDA Crackdown

Mundhe took charge of the FDA on May 15, 2026, and moved quickly. He ordered tighter checks across the milk supply chain, from dairy farms to retailers, to stop adulteration. His “Safe Food, Safe Medicine, Safe Maharashtra” campaign has also targeted restaurants and other food outlets, and the FDA issued show-cause notices to actors over an advertisement for a prohibited product.

During the earlier qualification rounds, the three players also performed well. They had posted a combined 2,099 to tie China in a blazing final round.

Sharing her experience, Jyothi Surekha Vennam has been a vital part of India’s compound archery journey. This veteran Indian archer has been part of the Indian team for major international tournaments and was a regular member in the victorious compound archery teams. Her experience and the efforts of Chikhitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep contributed to India’s consistency through the knockouts.

Chikhitha leads qualifiers

Chikhitha Taniparthi also excelled at the qualification stage. Her individual qualification score of 705 put her at the top, ahead of the team events. Prithika Pradeep also had a significant part in India’s successful campaign, helping the team to keep its progress to the final stage.

UNGA 2026: No Luck For Pakistan, India Summarily Rejects Erdogan’s Attempt to Politicise Kashmir Issue

India on Tuesday, September 29, firmly rejected the references to Jammu and Kashmir made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his address at the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called the remarks unwarranted and made it clear that New Delhi will not entertain outside commentary on the issue.

What Erdogan Said at the UNGA

Erdogan urged dialogue on South Asian issues, including Kashmir, and called for solutions based on the United Nations Charter. His remarks came with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif present in the hall, giving Islamabad a friendly voice on a global stage.

India’s Response

Jaiswal said the matter concerns India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He added that no external party has any locus standi, meaning legal standing, to comment on it. India has long maintained that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inalienable part of the country and that there is no room for third-party mediation.

A Pattern Turkey Keeps Repeating

This is not the first time Erdogan has raised Kashmir at the UN. He spoke on it in 2019 after India revoked Article 370, and again at later sessions. At the 80th UNGA in 2025, he raised it once more, and India called the comments objectionable. Jaiswal also said then that the world would do better to call out Pakistan’s use of cross-border terrorism. In February 2025, Erdogan repeated his stand during a visit to Islamabad.

Strained India-Turkey Ties

Relations between the two countries have been under pressure since the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack and India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Turkey’s support for Pakistan during that period did not go down well in New Delhi.

For Pakistan, the UNGA has often been a stage to internationalise Kashmir. But each attempt has met the same firm answer from India, and this year was no different.

Head of the Nanaksar Sect Baba Lakha Singh Ji on Tuesday called on CM Bhagwant Singh Mann in Chandigarh and hailed the Punjab Government for passing the historic ‘Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026’, saying the legislation will assuage the sentiments of the Sikh community and help check incidents of Beadbi. Baba Lakha Singh Ji blessed CM Bhagwant Singh Mann with a Siropa from Guru Ghar, while the Chief Minister said that upholding the honour, sanctity and maryada of Shabad Guru Sahib, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, is the foremost duty of his government and that he considers this service a blessing entrusted to him by Waheguru.

During this, Head of Nanaksar Sect Baba Lakha Singh Ji said, “The passing of the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act, 2026, is a path-breaking initiative which has assuaged the sentiments of the entire Sikh community, which was deeply hurt by repeated incidents of desecration. This legislation reflects the commitment of the Punjab Government towards protecting the honour and sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.”

“The government has taken an important step by strengthening the law against incidents of Beadbi. Such legislation will help uphold the sanctity of Shabad Guru and instil greater confidence among the Sikh community that such incidents will be dealt with firmly,” he said.

Baba Lakha Singh Ji presented a Siropa to CM Bhagwant Singh Mann as a mark of honour and respect for his service to humanity in general and the Sikh Panth in particular.

Meanwhile,CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to Baba Ji for showering his blessings on me. It is the foremost duty of the State Government to uphold the honour, respect and sanctity of Shabad Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.”

“Our Government is fully committed to treading the path shown by the great Gurus for the progress of Punjab and prosperity of its people. We are working continuously to maintain peace, amity and harmony in the State and to further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony,” said the Chief Minister.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Wahrguru has bestowed upon me the opportunity to serve humanity by enacting the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act, 2026, which provides for harsher punishment for Beadbi. I hope this Act will act as a deterrent against such unfortunate incidents in the future and that no one will dare to indulge in this crime.”

“I am nobody to claim that I have passed this Act. This service has been taken from me by Guru Sahib, who is omnipotent and omnipresent. God takes such service from the person chosen by Him, and I consider myself a humble servant of Guru Sahib who has been assigned this task,” he said.

The Chief Minister noted, “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is like a father to every Sikh and it is our duty to ensure its sanctity. If the State Government cannot ensure the honour and sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, then no one else will fall in line. We are therefore duty-bound to take every possible step to protect the sanctity of Shabad Guru Sahib.”

“We are fortunate that this responsibility of passing such a historic Act has been entrusted to the State Government. I firmly hope that this legislation will act as a strong deterrent and put an end to such incidents in the future,” he said.

Sharing a few snippets from this auspicious meeting, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated: “In Chandigarh, Head of the Nanaksar Sect Baba Lakha Singh Ji visited me. A state-level event organised in Malout, Sri Muktsar Sahib, offered a glimpse into how the Bhagwant Mann government’s Yudh Nashean Virudh initiative is moving beyond enforcement and de-addiction to strengthen prevention at the community level. At the event, 20 Anganwadi Workers serving as Nasha Mukti Mitras were felicitated by Minister for Social Security and Women and Child Development Dr Baljit Kaur for their contribution to spreading awareness about substance abuse.

With regular contact with families and children, Anganwadi Workers are being positioned as community-level ambassadors who can sensitise people about the dangers of drugs, encourage early intervention, and help connect those needing assistance with the state’s de-addiction and rehabilitation system.

The Malout programme also showcased the government’s growing emphasis on sports as a preventive tool. More than 100 sports kits containing hockey, football, volleyball and cricket equipment were distributed among youngsters from the district.

Addressing Anganwadi Workers, youth and community champions from the district, Dr Baljit Kaur said, “The Punjab government is expanding sports infrastructure to provide youngsters with healthier alternatives and keep them away from drugs.”

The Minister noted, “Around 3,000 sports grounds are being developed across Punjab, while 500 pind gyms were inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in January this year. The fourth season of the annual sports festival Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, launched in Bathinda earlier this month, is also encouraging young people to participate in sporting activities.”

She stated, “The approach adds another layer to the anti-drug campaign. While enforcement focuses on disrupting the supply of drugs, de-addiction and rehabilitation services address those already struggling with addiction. Apart from this, the government is increasingly focusing on prevention by creating an environment in which young people have access to recreation and sporting activities, community support, and adults who can recognise the warning signs early.”

Dr Baljit Kaur appealed to teachers, parents, youth clubs, panchayats and social welfare organisations to participate actively in the campaign. She also urged youngsters not to abandon friends who may be moving towards drug use, but instead to support and encourage them to seek help and move away from substance abuse.

School children at the Malout programme participated in poster-making and essay-writing competitions. Cultural performances, including Malwai Giddha and a play on drug awareness, reinforced the message of a healthy, drug-free Punjab.

Punjab is creating a local ecosystem in which community health workers, schools, parents, panchayats, youth clubs and sports facilities become part of the prevention effort, with Anganwadi Workers and initiatives such as Village and Ward Defence Committees playing an important role.

With the deployment of Nasha Mukti Mitras across Punjab, the government is giving Yudh Nashean Virudh a presence closer to the families and communities where early prevention can take place.

How the Beadbi Law Came Into Force

The Punjab Vidhan Sabha passed the bill on 13 April 2026, the day of Vaisakhi. Reports say it was passed unanimously. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria then gave his assent, and it became law as the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026. The Chief Minister has said the law provides harsher punishment for beadbi. He also said it was drafted with legal experts so that future loopholes cannot weaken it.

Thanksgiving Across Punjab

After the law came into force, gurdwaras and communities across the state began holding thanksgiving prayers. On 11 May 2026, CM Mann attended the bhog of an Akhand Path at Gurdwara Jyotisar Sahib in Sangrur. He offered Ardas and thanked the Almighty for the chance to serve. A “Shukrana Yatra” was also held to give thanks. Mann said Sikhs around the world had expressed joy over the law.

What Leaders and Ministers Are Saying

Several Punjab ministers and MPs called the day historic and said the law reflects the faith of millions of people. Malvinder Singh Kang said it answers a long-pending demand for strict punishment. Harjot Singh Bains said it matters to people of all religions who revere the Guru Granth Sahib.

Will the Law Stop Beadbi?

Supporters say the tougher penalties will make anyone think twice before committing such an act. The Chief Minister has said he hopes no one will dare to commit beadbi again. Not everyone agrees on the politics around it. Mann himself has acknowledged that some people still oppose the legislation, and his comments about the previous Akali government were sharply critical. As with any law, its real impact will depend on how fairly and quickly it is enforced.

CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited flood-affected areas of Kushinagar on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, distributing relief material and announcing compensation for families hit by a sudden embankment breach that flooded several villages overnight.

What Triggered The Flooding

The crisis began late on September 28, when the Narayani River’s AP embankment breached near Chain Patti and Jawahi Mali Ehtmali in the Tatwa Tola area of Tamkuhiraj tehsil, Kushinagar. Floodwaters surged rapidly into nearby villages, displacing residents overnight. Local resident Ritesh Singh told reporters that 12 to 13 villages were affected and several families were left homeless, while another villager, Lalbagh Gupta, said the impact extended to around 200 villages in the wider area. Gorakhpur Flood Division Chief Engineer Vikas confirmed roughly 100 metres of embankment erosion, with teams working to contain the damage using sandbags.

CM’s Immediate Response

After the breach, Adityanath held a high-level meeting with the Gorakhpur Commissioner, Additional Director General of Police, and Kushinagar District Magistrate, and ordered the immediate evacuation of residents to safer ground. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams were deployed for large-scale rescue operations.

On-Ground Visit And Relief Distribution

Adityanath personally visited the flood-hit villages on Tuesday, assuring families that the state government stood with them during the disaster. He announced that 5,000 relief packets had been arranged for affected families, each containing around 35 items, including 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of flour, 10 kg of potatoes, pulses, oil, spices, salt and a bucket, with each packet weighing over 50 kg.

Compensation Announced

CM Yogi Adityanath: The Chief Minister said families who suffered loss of life would receive Rs 4 lakh in assistance, alongside compensation for damaged homes and crop losses. He directed officials to ensure food, drinking water and electricity at relief camps, and asked health centres to maintain adequate stocks of anti-sera and anti-rabies vaccines for affected areas.
