Salman Khan has once again found himself at the centre of online trolling after making a surprising confession about his approach to films. The Bollywood superstar recently revealed that he has never read a script in his entire life, and the statement quickly went viral across social media platforms. While some fans found the comment amusing, many users linked it to the actor’s recent string of underperforming films and brutally mocked him online.

The viral moment came from a conversation shared by Variety India. In it, Salman Khan openly admitted, “I have never read a script in my entire life. I have written them, but I have never read them.” The actor’s statement shocked many viewers because he has been part of the film industry for over three decades and has delivered several blockbuster hits during his career.

Interestingly, Salman Khan also holds writing credits for films such as Veer, Baaghi and Dabangg 3. In the same interaction, he casually joked about his luxury watches and said, “You see me wearing watches; that doesn’t mean that those watches are mine. Either it belongs to one friend or another.”

Salman Khan Gets Brutally Trolled Online

Soon after the clip surfaced online, social media users flooded the comments section with reactions. Many netizens sarcastically connected Salman Khan’s confession to the recent box office performance of his films.

One user commented, “We know.” Another wrote, “Shocking.”

A third social media user mocked the actor by saying, “Toh iss liye movies flop ho rahi he bhai ki.”

Another comment read, “Bhai ko paisa bas dekhna hota tabhi sari movie bina script dekhe flop kar de rahe.”

One more user harshly wrote, “Bhai anpadh hai.”

The trolling comes at a time when Salman Khan has been facing criticism for his recent film choices and declining box office success. While the actor still commands a massive fan base, many viewers believe his films now rely more on stardom than strong storytelling.

When AR Murugadoss Opened Up About Sikandar Problems

Salman Khan’s last full-fledged release was AR Murugadoss’s Sikandar, which failed to perform as expected at the box office. After the film’s disappointing run, Murugadoss spoke openly about the difficulties faced during production.

Speaking on Valaipechu Voice, the director said, “It’s not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we had to shoot at night because he turned up to sets only by 8 PM. We are people who are used to shooting from early mornings, but that’s not how things work there.”

He further added, “On top of that, multiple people used to suggest a lot of spot changes on the set in the script.”

Salman Khan Defended Sikandar

Salman Khan later addressed the criticism during an episode of Bigg Boss. Responding to comedian Ravi Gupta’s question about films he regrets doing, Salman defended Sikandar and said, “Nayi mein se koi nahi hai… log kehte hain Sikandar par main nahi manta, uska plot bahut acha tha.”

The actor also reacted to Murugadoss’s remarks regarding his late arrival on set. Salman explained, “Lekin kya hai na, main set pe raat ke 9 baje pahuchta tha, toh usme gadbad ho gayi. Meri pasaliyan tooti thi.”

Taking a subtle dig at Murugadoss’s recent release Madharaasi, Salman added with a smile, “Madharaasi karke picture unhone direct ki hai jo ki release hui, bahut badi film hai aur utni hi badi… Sikandar se badi blockbuster.”

Salman’s Upcoming Films

Despite the online criticism, Salman Khan remains one of Bollywood’s biggest stars. He will next appear in Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, though the release date has not yet been announced.

The actor has also started shooting for a new action entertainer with director Vamshi Paidipally and producer Dil Raju. Actress Nayanthara will play the female lead opposite him.

Bhojshala Temple Verdict: The Bhojshala dispute has gained fresh attention after court observations regarding the site’s historical identity as the Saraswati Temple. While the Hindu side welcomed the developments, the Muslim side announced plans to challenge the decision in a higher court.

Court Examines Historical Identity of Bhojshala

The court reportedly reviewed historical documents, archaeological findings, and arguments from both sides before presenting its observations on the Bhojshala dispute. The proceedings mainly focused on the site’s religious and heritage identity.

Hindu Side Welcomes Court Observations

Representatives from the Hindu side stated that the observations support their claim that Bhojshala was originally a Saraswati Temple. They pointed to architectural patterns, carvings, and inscriptions as important evidence.

The Muslim side announces an appeal

Leaders from the Muslim community expressed disagreement with the court’s interpretation and confirmed plans to challenge the observations in a higher court. They argued that the site also holds religious importance for Muslims.

Advocate General Explains Court’s Position

The Advocate General clarified that the court’s approach was based on legal evidence and historical records presented during the hearings. He stated that the matter involves heritage interpretation and constitutional considerations.

Security Tightened Around Bhojshala Complex

Authorities have reportedly increased security arrangements around the Bhojshala complex following the latest developments. Officials appealed to the public to maintain peace and communal harmony.

Petrol Diesel Price Hike Triggers Nationwide Concern as Rising Fuel Costs Put Pressure on Daily Commuters, Gig Workers Call For Strike

Petrol- Diesel -Price- Hike

Petrol Diesel Price Hike: Rising petrol and diesel prices across the country have increased financial pressure on daily commuters, transport operators, and gig workers. Higher fuel costs are affecting travel expenses, delivery services, and the prices of essential goods. Several worker groups have demanded government relief measures, while some unions have warned of protests and strikes over shrinking earnings and growing inflation concerns.

Fuel prices continue to rise across major cities

Petrol and diesel prices have increased again in many major cities, putting extra pressure on consumers. Rising global crude oil prices and taxes are being blamed for the continuous hike. The increase is affecting daily travel expenses and household budgets across the country.

Daily Commuters Feel The Financial Pressure

Office workers, students, and small business owners are struggling with higher fuel expenses. People who travel long distances daily are spending much more every month. Many commuters fear that transportation and essential goods may become even more expensive soon.

Gig Workers Demand Relief Amid Shrinking Earnings

Delivery agents, cab drivers, and app-based workers say rising fuel prices are reducing their daily income. Many workers claim their earnings are no longer enough to cover fuel and maintenance costs. Several unions have demanded better payouts and fuel subsidies from the government.

Inflation Concerns Rise As Fuel Costs Impact Essentials

Experts warn that higher fuel prices could increase the cost of food, transport, and other essential items. Since diesel is widely used for transportation, businesses may pass the extra cost on to consumers. This could further increase inflation and affect common people.

Government Under Pressure To Act

Petrol Diesel Price Hike: Opposition parties and worker groups are demanding fuel tax cuts and financial relief for the public. Citizens are also expecting the government to take quick action to control rising prices. Authorities are currently monitoring the global oil market situation before making any major decision.

Before Main Hoon Na, Saif Ali Khan And Shah Rukh Khan Were Expected To Team Up For THIS Blockbuster Film – Here’s Why Kartavya Actor Got Replaced!

Saif Ali Khan and Shah Rukh Khan

Saif Ali Khan has revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes story from the early 2000s that has now become a hot topic among Bollywood fans. The actor recently shared that Shah Rukh Khan had personally approached him for a “great part” in the 2004 blockbuster Main Hoon Na. However, the collaboration never happened because director Farah Khan eventually decided to go in a different direction.

The revelation came during Saif Ali Khan’s recent interview with Bollywood Hungama while promoting his new Netflix film Kartavya. Speaking about the missed opportunity, Saif recalled how excited Shah Rukh Khan was while discussing the role with him. At the time, the two actors had already impressed audiences with their chemistry in Kal Ho Naa Ho, and many expected them to reunite on screen once again.

According to Saif Ali Khan, things changed quickly after Farah Khan stepped in. Recalling the moment, the actor said Farah directly called him and told him, “No, no, no, listen…” because she believed the character required someone completely different.

Although Saif did not confirm which role he was being considered for, fans strongly believe it was Lakshman “Lucky” Prasad, the rebellious younger brother of Shah Rukh Khan’s Major Ram Sharma. The role later went to Zayed Khan and became one of the memorable parts of the film.

Saif Ali Khan Also Missed Out On Devdas

Interestingly, Main Hoon Na was not the only major Bollywood project that slipped away from Saif Ali Khan during that era. Years before that, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali had reportedly considered Saif for the role of Chunnilal in Devdas.

The character eventually played by Jackie Shroff became one of the standout performances in the film. Industry reports suggest discussions between Saif and Bhansali did take place, but the collaboration failed to materialise because of scheduling issues and differences regarding the interpretation of the role.

At that stage in his career, Saif Ali Khan was trying to move beyond his romantic hero image and was carefully selecting projects that could reshape his position in the industry.

How Dil Chahta Hai Changed Saif’s Career

Even though Saif lost some big projects, he also gained career-defining films during the same period. One of the biggest turning points came with Dil Chahta Hai in 2001.

Director Farhan Akhtar reportedly considered several actors for the lead trio before finalising the cast. Different combinations featuring Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan were discussed before Saif Ali Khan was locked for the role of Sameer.

The film completely changed Saif’s image in Bollywood. His comic timing, charm and effortless performance connected strongly with younger audiences. Dil Chahta Hai not only became a cult classic but also revived Saif’s struggling career after multiple box-office disappointments in the 1990s.

Saif Ali Khan Now Seen In Kartavya

Saif Ali Khan is currently receiving attention for his latest Netflix release Kartavya, which premiered globally on 15 May 2026. Directed by Pulkit, the Hindi-language crime drama has been produced by Gauri Khan under Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment banner.

In the film, Saif Ali Khan plays SHO Pawan Malik, a police officer caught in a dangerous web of corruption, caste-based violence and political pressure after a journalist is attacked during a protection mission.

The thriller also stars Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain and Manish Chaudhari in important roles. Kartavya marks another intense performance from Saif, who has increasingly moved towards darker and more layered characters in recent years.

‘Nothing Comes Without Hardships…’ Pawan Kalyan Rejects Comparisons With Tamil Nadu CM Vijay, Recalls Painful 2019 Defeat

Pawan Kalyan on comparisons with Thalapathy Vijay

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has reacted strongly to comparisons being made between him and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. Addressing party workers at the Jana Sena headquarters in Mangalagiri on Friday, the actor-politician made it clear that Andhra Pradesh politics cannot be compared with political developments in neighbouring states.

Without taking Vijay’s name directly, Pawan Kalyan said that some people were trying to use the success of a leader from another state as a benchmark for his own political journey. He rejected the comparison and reminded supporters that every political landscape comes with its own challenges and realities.

Pawan Kalyan Reflects On 2019 Election Defeat

During his speech, Pawan Kalyan opened up about one of the toughest phases of his political career. He recalled the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections when he lost from both constituencies he contested. He also spoke about several close associates leaving him after the defeat.

The Jana Sena leader said those setbacks taught him important lessons about politics and leadership. Referring to the long struggles faced by Communist parties in India, he said strong political organisations are not built overnight and require patience and resilience.

Reflecting on his journey, Pawan Kalyan said, “Nothing comes without hardship,” while speaking about the difficult years between 2007 and 2018. He added that Jana Sena finally earned a place in government in 2024 after years of continuous effort and sacrifice.

He also urged party workers not to get distracted by comparisons or political narratives created by opponents. According to him, grassroots strength and committed leadership will decide the future of the party.

Pawan Kalyan And Vijay’s Political Journeys Spark Debate

The debate around Pawan Kalyan and Joseph Vijay has intensified after Vijay’s impressive electoral debut in Tamil Nadu. Both stars enjoy massive popularity among young audiences and successfully transitioned from cinema into politics. However, their political paths have been very different.

Pawan Kalyan’s first major electoral test in 2019 ended on a disappointing note. Jana Sena contested 140 seats but managed to win only one constituency — Razole. The actor-politician himself lost from both seats he contested.

However, things changed dramatically in 2024. Pawan Kalyan played a crucial role in bringing together the TDP and BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh. Jana Sena contested 21 seats and won all 21, giving the party a perfect strike rate and significantly boosting his political stature.

Vijay’s Solo Gamble Changes Tamil Nadu Politics

Unlike Pawan Kalyan, Vijay reportedly chose not to enter into alliances despite pressure from major national parties. His party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), contested independently and delivered a massive political upset in Tamil Nadu.

The success reportedly weakened both the ruling DMK and opposition AIADMK, with Vijay emerging as Chief Minister. His rapid rise has now become one of the most talked-about developments in South Indian politics.

Vat Savitri Vrat 2026: Vat Savitri is one of the most important Hindu fasting rituals observed by married women for the long life and well-being of their husbands. In 2026, Vat Savitri will be observed on May 16, and discussions around food rules and spiritual practices have once again gained attention. Many devotees believe that this day carries strong spiritual energy, and even small mistakes in food habits may affect household peace and prosperity.

In a video shared on the devotional YouTube channel Shiv Shakti TV, it is explained that Vat Savitri is not just a normal fast but a deeply powerful spiritual observance. The video claims that Goddess Savitri’s devotion and strength are remembered on this day, when she is believed to have brought back her husband Satyavan’s life from Lord Yama. According to the narration, food purity and discipline are considered very important during Vat Savitri, as it is believed that tamasic or forbidden foods may disturb positive energy in the home.

Spiritual Beliefs Around Vat Savitri Vrat 2026

The video highlights that Vat Savitri is seen by devotees as a highly sensitive spiritual day. It is believed that both positive and negative energies become stronger during this period. Because of this, even daily actions and food choices are said to have a deeper impact on family life.

According to traditional beliefs shared in the video, foods like onion, garlic, brinjal, radish, masoor dal and mushrooms are often avoided on this day. These items are considered tamasic in nature and are believed to affect mental calmness and household harmony. Instead, simple vegetarian foods like bottle gourd, pumpkin, raw banana and ridge gourd are preferred.

Vat Savitri Food Rules And Family Traditions

As per the guidelines mentioned, women observing Vat Savitri are advised to break their fast with simple foods like soaked black gram (kala chana) and light fruits such as banana, apple, mango, or pear. Heavy, spicy, and processed foods are avoided to maintain simplicity and discipline.

The beliefs also extend to the entire family. Husbands and children are encouraged to follow a satvik diet on this day. It is suggested to avoid non-vegetarian food, alcohol, onion, garlic, and outside meals. The idea behind these practices is to maintain purity in the home environment.

Many devotees believe that Vat Savitri is not only about rituals performed near the banyan tree but also about inner discipline and clean living. A pure diet is said to support a calm mind, which in turn strengthens spiritual practice and family harmony.

Whether seen as tradition or belief, Vat Savitri continues to remain an important cultural festival that brings attention to devotion, family bonding and mindful living.

BJP Looted Votes in West Bengal, Now Looting People Through Fuel Price Hike: Aman Arora

Aman Arora

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora on Friday strongly condemned the BJP-led Central Government over the continuous rise in fuel prices and inflation, stating that the BJP-led government has pushed common people, farmers and small businesses into financial distress while favouring a handful of corporate houses.

Addressing a press conference, AAP Punjab State President Aman Arora said the entire country is witnessing the suffering caused by rising inflation despite the tall promises made by PM Modi before coming to power 12 years ago. “The BJP Government has once again burdened common people, farmers and small businesses with rising fuel prices and inflation. The entire country is witnessing how people are suffering under inflation despite the tall promises made by PM Modi before coming to power 12 years ago,” he added.

Referring to the latest hike in fuel and LPG prices, Aman Arora said, “Immediately after the West Bengal elections, the Central Government increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹943, dealing a severe blow to small businesses and traders. Along with this, the Centre increased petrol prices by ₹3.14 per litre, diesel by ₹3.11 per litre and CNG prices by ₹2. This is a shameful gift to the people of the country.”

He asserted that the BJP only remembers public welfare during elections but imposes economic burdens on people after securing votes. “The BJP talks about public welfare during elections, but after winning votes it starts looting the hard-earned money of the people. These price hikes are being done only to benefit a few selected corporate houses close to the ruling party,” Aman Arora said.

Targeting the BJP over its poll promises, Aman Arora stated, “The BJP had promised to deposit ₹15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account, create two crore jobs and double farmers’ income. Instead of doubling farmers’ income, the BJP Government has continuously increased the financial burden on farmers through inflation and rising fuel costs.”

Highlighting the impact on Punjab’s farming sector, the AAP Punjab State President said the diesel price hike will directly hit agricultural operations during the paddy sowing season. “Farmers require thousands of litres of water and fuel for irrigation during paddy sowing. The increase in diesel prices will directly affect their agricultural operations and increase their financial burden,” he added.

Aman Arora further said that there was a time when even a minor increase in petrol prices would trigger nationwide protests, but people have now become exhausted and frustrated after enduring inflation for the last 12 to 13 years. “The present situation is the result of the BJP Government’s complete failure in domestic economic policies under the leadership of Narendra Modi,” he remarked.

Questioning the Centre’s claims of making India “Atmanirbhar”, Aman Arora said import dependency has instead increased significantly over the past decade. Taking a dig at the Centre’s foreign policy decisions related to oil imports, he said, “It is difficult to understand why India is hesitant in making independent decisions on purchasing oil despite opportunities available from countries like Russia.”

Strongly condemning the increase in petrol, diesel and CNG prices, Aman Arora demanded that the Central Government immediately roll back the hike. “If inflation continues to suffocate the common people, public anger could spill onto the streets, leading to major political consequences for the BJP Government,” he warned.

Modi Govt’s diesel, petrol & CNG price hike is anti-farmer, anti-Punjab and anti-people: Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Friday strongly condemned the BJP-led Central Government over the steep increase in diesel, petrol and CNG prices, calling the move anti-national, anti-Punjab and outright anti-farmer.

Addressing a press conference alongside AAP leader Prabhvir Brar, AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said the Narendra Modi-led government has once again delivered a massive inflation shock to the people of the country and exposed its anti-people mindset by pushing common citizens, farmers and labourers deeper into financial distress. “The timing of the diesel price hike has made the situation even more painful for Punjab’s farmers, as paddy sowing has already begun across the country, especially in Punjab,” he added.

The AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson stated that under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has ensured canal water facilities for farmers, while paddy transplantation will begin in full swing from June 1. “Farmers are already working day and night preparing their fields for the next crop after completing wheat harvesting and straw management. In such a crucial period, increasing diesel prices by ₹3.11 per litre is nothing short of a betrayal of Punjab’s farmers and a direct attack on their livelihood,” he asserted.

Questioning the intentions of the BJP and PM Modi, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said the Modi government has continuously targeted Punjab and its farmers ever since it was forced to repeal the three black farm laws following the historic farmers’ movement. “The Centre is still trying to settle political scores with Punjab by repeatedly burdening farmers and labourers through anti-people decisions,” he added.

Referring to the withholding of Punjab’s Rural Development Fund (RDF) and the latest fuel price hike, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated, “The BJP Government has once again imposed an unbearable financial burden on the farming community. Since Punjab feeds the nation, the impact of this diesel price hike will hit Punjab’s farmers the hardest.”

Speaking on the Central Government’s foreign and trade policies, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that when the US-India trade deal was signed on February 26 this year, the AAP was the first political party in the country to strongly oppose the agreement through a press conference. “On the very same day, I had warned that PM Modi bowing before the United States would eventually harm the country’s interests,” he added.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal pointed out that India’s trusted ally Russia had been supplying crude oil at highly affordable rates ranging between $35 and $50 per barrel, rates that China continues to benefit from even today. However, he said that under pressure from the United States, the Modi government stopped purchasing Russian oil, the consequences of which are now being suffered by the people of the country through soaring fuel prices and inflation.

Taking a dig at Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said, “Sunil Jakhar and Company, who until yesterday were busy defending the Central Government, must now explain to the people what kind of justice this is.”

He further stated that the Centre had insulted farmers just two days ago by announcing a meagre increase of only 72 paise per kilogram in the MSP of paddy, an amount too insignificant to match the rising cost of cultivation. “On one hand, the BJP Government increased MSP by merely 72 paise per kilogram, and on the other hand, it increased diesel prices by ₹3.11 per litre, putting an even heavier burden on farmers,” added Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.

He said experts from Punjab Agricultural University should be consulted to understand the actual cost of paddy cultivation. “Rice is sold in the market at prices ranging from ₹50 to ₹200 per kilogram, while farmers have effectively been offered just a 72-paise increase,” he remarked.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal warned that the diesel price hike would not only affect farmers but also severely impact ordinary citizens across the country. He said that increased transportation and freight costs would trigger a sharp rise in the prices of essential commodities and food items, further burdening households already struggling with inflation.

Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that while people are being advised to reduce car usage, rely on motorcycles and bicycles and cut fuel consumption, the Prime Minister himself has pushed the country deeper into inflation before leaving on foreign tours in government aircraft. “The AAP strongly condemns this anti-people decision of the Central Government and demands its immediate rollback,” concluded Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.

AAP’s Halla Bol against rising petrol & diesel prices

Punjab News

As petrol prices rose soon after the conclusion of elections in five states, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched demonstrations across Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar, calling out the BJP-led central government for pushing the country deeper into inflation after first increasing gas cylinder prices and now fuel rates.

AAP leaders said that after the conclusion of elections in five states, the Central BJP government has continuously increased first the price of gas cylinders and now petrol prices, which has placed an economic burden on the lives of common people. They said that the foreign and domestic policy of the Modi Government has proven to be a failure.

During a demonstration in Amritsar, AAP Punjab State Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Dhaliwal stated, “Due to inflation, the backbone of the country’s people has already been broken, and on top of that, the massive increase in fuel prices has made life extremely difficult for poor and middle-class families. Due to the rise in petrol and diesel prices, the prices of daily-use goods and vegetables have also skyrocketed, for which the pro-corporate policies of the Modi Government are directly responsible.”

Addressing the demonstration in Ludhiana, District President Jatinder Khangura warned the Central Government that if the increased prices are not withdrawn immediately, Aam Aadmi Party will intensify this struggle further and will raise the voice for the rights of the people from the streets to Parliament. “The party always stands with the common people and will not tolerate this exploitation by the Central Government,” he said.

In Jalandhar, District President Amritpal Singh asserted, “Due to the wrong policies of the BJP government, common people are suffering under the burden of inflation. The continuously rising prices of petrol and diesel have completely destroyed the household budgets of ordinary citizens. The increase in fuel prices is affecting every section of society and is also directly impacting essential daily commodities.”

Bhagwant Mann Govt’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana Shields Punjabi Families from Summer Health Crisis, 3,279 Patients Receive Cashless Treatment for Gastro & Dehydration Illnesses

CM Mann

With Punjab reeling under an unforgiving summer and a sharp rise in gastroenteritis and dehydration cases, the Bhagwant Mann government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY) has emerged as a strong support system for thousands of families.

The fierce summer has begun to leave its mark not merely on Punjab’s fields and sweltering roads, but increasingly inside hospital wards, where dehydration and stomach infections are sending hundreds to seek urgent treatment. However, amid the rising tide of illness, many families are finding reassurance through the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY), which is enabling cashless medical care across the state.

From January to April, cashless treatment under MMSY has brought relief to 3,279 acute care cases across Punjab, with ₹73.42 lakh spent specifically on gastro- and abdominal illness-related treatments.

Hospitals in both government and empanelled private sectors are reporting a steady influx of patients suffering from acute gastroenteritis, vomiting, weakness, and severe dehydration. According to treatment records under MMSY, more than 1,400 patients have already availed treatment for dehydration-linked gastrointestinal illnesses during the month of April.

Among these cases, acute gastroenteritis accompanied by moderate dehydration accounted for the overwhelming majority, crossing 1,050 cases. Nearly 115 patients required treatment for severe dehydration, while more than 250 others were admitted for recurrent vomiting associated with fluid loss and exhaustion.

Dr. Shashi Kant Dhir, Professor and Head, Pediatrics, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, says the scorching temperatures are aggravating the spread of stomach infections. “Food spoils more rapidly during intense heat, while contaminated water and unhygienic eating conditions further increase the risk of disease,” Dr. Dhir says, adding, “Patients commonly arrive complaining of diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, and fever. In severe situations, delayed treatment can lead to dangerously low blood pressure, kidney complications, and confusion caused by electrolyte imbalances.”

While older persons often experience slower recovery and reduced water retention capacity during this time, Dr. Shashi Kant Dhir warns that children too remain especially vulnerable during such outbreaks. “Children lose fluids at a far quicker rate through vomiting and diarrhoea.”

Treatment figures reveal that senior citizens have borne the brunt of the summer health crisis. More than 1,290 elderly beneficiaries have already received treatment under the scheme in April alone, compared to around 120 children.

Hoshiarpur emerged among the most severely affected districts, recording more than 250 elderly patients treated for acute gastroenteritis with moderate dehydration alone. Jalandhar too witnessed over 100 elderly admissions under the same category. Similar trends were observed in Patiala, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Barnala, Sangrur, Bathinda, and Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar.

Meanwhile, districts such as Sri Muktsar Sahib, Pathankot, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Gurdaspur reported cases involving recurrent vomiting and dehydration, many requiring urgent fluid management and hospital observation.

For countless families, however, the biggest relief has not merely been medical treatment but also the absence of financial tension. Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, eligible citizens are receiving diagnosis, medicines, IV fluids, hydration therapy, and hospital care without out-of-pocket expenditure.

Officials say the MMSY Sehat Card has encouraged people to seek medical attention early rather than delaying treatment over fears of mounting bills. This has proved particularly important for economically vulnerable households, many of whom previously postponed hospital visits until conditions became critical.

Dr. Shashi Kant Dhir suggests, “Parents need to take extra precautions during the summer by ensuring children stay well hydrated, wear light cotton clothes, avoid peak heat hours, and consume fresh, home-cooked food.” He also urged parents to seek prompt medical attention if children show symptoms such as fever, vomiting, lethargy, or dehydration.

At a time when seasonal illnesses are tightening their grip across the state, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana is becoming more than a welfare scheme. For many Punjabi families battling the harsh summer, it has become a much-needed assurance that timely healthcare and recovery will not come at the cost of financial ruin.

Bhagwant Mann: The Punjab government, led by CM Bhagwant Mann, has stepped up efforts to safeguard Non-Resident Indian Punjabis and has received over 430 complaints from residents abroad. The complaints include property disputes, family problems, financial grievances and other issues impacting the diaspora.

Redressal on a fast track

The government’s drive is to make redressal of grievances faster and more transparent. Punjab is working to develop a more robust mechanism for NRI protection to assure overseas Punjabis that their issues will be addressed and pursued. “It’s not just about recording complaints, it’s about getting them through the system quickly.”

The importance to the diaspora is

Punjab is living abroad are often closely connected to their home state, particularly concerning land, inheritance and family property. A dedicated complaint handling system can reduce the fear that disputes will remain unresolved. For many of them, the ability to seek help through government channels is a big confidence boost.

Administrative message

The move is also a signal that the Mann government wants to come across as proactive on diaspora issues. The NRI communities form an important part of the social and economic fabric of Punjab, and measures that protect their interests can enhance trust between the state and the Punjabis abroad. It is also an attempt to show governance as responsive and citizen-oriented.

What else to see

The question now is how fast they are resolved and whether the state puts in place more targeted safeguards in property and legal cases. If the system produces visible results, it might become a model for better handling of diaspora grievances and might encourage more NRIs to come forward with their grievances.
