Calling Dussehra a festival dedicated to vanquishing evil and terror, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed authorities to impose strict punishments on those attempting to create unrest across the state. He made the remarks while reviewing law and order with senior officers late at night.

Kanpur to Bareilly: Controversy Over Objectionable Processions

The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over recent incidents in Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Moradabad, Budaun, Maharajganj, Unnao, Sambhal, Agra, Bareilly, and Saharanpur, where processions involving provocative slogans and ‘I Love Muhammad’ banners led to tensions. Officials said these incidents appear to be part of a well-planned conspiracy to disturb the state’s peace.

FIRs, Social Media Monitoring Ordered

Mr. Adityanath directed that FIRs be lodged immediately against all those involved in such activities, and that both organisers and masterminds should be identified. He ordered officials to scan video footage, track social media activity, and investigate the properties of those instigating unrest.
“Not a single wrongdoer involved in these processions should be spared,” he stressed.

Women’s Safety Under Mission Shakti 5.0

Reviewing Mission Shakti 5.0, which began during Sharadiya Navratri, the CM issued strict instructions to prevent disguised offenders from infiltrating garba and dandiya events. He emphasised swift action in cases of molestation, chain snatching, and acid attacks, warning that accountability would extend to police stations, outposts, and even PRVs.

Rumours and Misinformation Under Scrutiny

Mr. Adityanath also objected strongly to rumours of drone reconnaissance and theft in districts including Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Basti, and Prayagraj. He directed police to arrest rumour-mongers, conduct regular patrols, and curb the spread of misleading content on social media.

Zero-Tolerance on Crime

Reiterating his zero-tolerance policy against criminals, the CM said that ensuring the safety of every citizen remains the government’s top priority. After Dussehra, zonal ADGs have been tasked with conducting station-wise reviews and submitting detailed reports.
