In a significant development, a trial run of the Vande Bharat Express was conducted from Coimbatore to Bengaluru Cantonment and back, according to an official press statement.
Efficient Trial Run and Inspection
The train commenced its journey from Coimbatore at 5:00 am, reaching Bengaluru Cantonment at approximately 10:38 am. The Divisional Railway Manager, Yogesh Mohan, along with other officers, visited Bengaluru Cantonment and meticulously inspected the train.
Upcoming Regular Service
The timetable for the regular service and the fare structure of the Vande Bharat Express are currently under review and will be officially notified soon, as mentioned in the statement.
Revolutionizing Rail Travel
Vande Bharat Express, India’s first semi-highspeed train, boasts world-class passenger amenities and is designed for faster acceleration and deceleration. It aims to reduce journey times by 25% to 45%. The scheduled commute between New Delhi and Varanasi is expected to take approximately eight hours, marking a significant reduction compared to existing train services.
‘Make in India’ Success Story
With more than 40 lakh passengers having traveled in Vande Bharat trains covering 23 lakh kilometers, this initiative underscores the success of the ‘Make in India’ campaign. Launched on February 15, 2019, the Vande Bharat Express is a testament to Indian Railways commitment to speed, convenience, and innovation.
Future Plans and Vision
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision includes connecting every corner of the country with 75 Vande Bharat trains during the 75 weeks of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, as announced during his address on August 15, 2021.
