U19 World Cup 2023: BCCI secretary Jay Shah announces THIS many crores for the Indian team & staff after maiden trophy win

U19 World Cup 2023: Jay Shah, Secretary of the BCCI, announced INR 5 crore reward for the victorious Indian U-19 Women’s team via tweet following their historic win at the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Under the leadership of captain Shafali Verma, the Indian women overpowered England in the final with a 7-wicket victory. The Indian bowlers made an outstanding performance, restricting England to only 68 runs in 17.1 overs.

Titas Sadhu kick-started the match by dismissing Liberty Heap in the first over, and England never fully recovered as they lost wickets regularly. Sadhu, Archana Devi, and Parshavi Chopra each took 2 wickets, while Shafali, Sonam Yadav, and Mannat Kassyap contributed one wicket each.

Jay Shah announces the reward

Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, praised the women cricket team. He also invited all of them to Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahemdabad for the celebration on 1st of February when India takes on the New Zealand for third T20I. Addtionally, he also announced the reward for them.

Brilliant performance by team India in U19 World Cup 2023

India effortlessly achieved their target of 69 runs, losing only 3 wickets, with Soumya Tiwari remaining undefeated on 24 runs off 37 balls and hitting three boundaries to secure the win for India. Titas Sadhu was named Player of the match for her impressive 4-over spell, conceding only 6 runs. Grace Scrivens of England was honoured as Player of the tournament.

This is the first major ICC Trophy victory for Indian women, and it was achieved by the players who will carry the nation’s women’s cricket into the future.
