In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against narco-terrorism, Amritsar Rural Police, under the leadership of the Bhagwant Mann government, have dismantled a major narco-hawala network operating in the border areas of Punjab.
According to a tweet by Punjab DGP, the police have arrested three individuals — Ranjit Singh alias Rana, Gurdev Singh alias Gedi, and Shailendra Singh alias Selu — who are allegedly involved in cross-border drug trafficking and illegal financial transactions.

During the operation, the police recovered 500 grams of heroin, a Glock 9mm pistol along with two magazines, and ₹33 lakh in hawala cash. These seizures point to the extent of illegal activities and the sophisticated network being run to finance and facilitate narcotic smuggling across borders.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station Lopoke in Amritsar, and investigations are currently underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of this smuggling racket. The Punjab Police has indicated that further arrests and recoveries are likely as they deepen the probe.
The Punjab Police, supported by the state administration, continues to focus on dismantling the networks that fuel narco-terrorism, especially in sensitive border districts. This latest crackdown is part of the state’s intensified efforts to ensure public safety and national security.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has reiterated on several occasions that his government will take strict action against drug syndicates and corrupt networks enabling them. This case stands as another strong step in that direction.
