Gulmarg Fashion Show: Gulmarg, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and natural beauty, is now at the centre of controversy. The uproar stems from the recent Gulmarg Fashion Show, which has triggered widespread backlash in Jammu and Kashmir, especially as it was held during the holy month of Ramadan. Political leaders, including J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, have taken note of the issue, with Abdullah ordering a detailed report on the matter. Now, Grand Mufti J&K, Nasir-ur-Islam, has strongly condemned the event, calling it unacceptable in Islam.
Grand Mufti J&K, Nasir-ur-Islam Slams Gulmarg Fashion Show
Speaking to news agency ANI, Grand Mufti J&K, Nasir-ur-Islam criticised the event, stating, "Semi-nude men and women were walking on the ramp, and this is not acceptable at all. It is a cultural invasion, and legal action should be taken against those responsible."

He further said, "Such heinous acts are not acceptable in Islam. We are badly hurt, and the central government should take action in this matter and prevent such events in Jammu and Kashmir."
Omar Abdullah Government Orders Inquiry Into Gulmarg Fashion Show
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also addressed the Gulmarg Fashion Show controversy, emphasising that the administration has been directed to investigate potential legal violations by the organisers.
“If any violations are found, the matter will be handed over to the police for necessary action,” Abdullah stated while addressing the Assembly.
The Gulmarg Fashion Show, held on March 7, has been widely criticised in Kashmir. Many leaders argue that the event promoted obscenity and hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community.
Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, PDP MLA from Pulwama, expressed his strong opposition, stating, “You know how the RSS and others protest against Valentine's Day celebrations. This is an assault on our religious and cultural sensibilities. Those responsible for allowing such a vulgar event should be held accountable.”
