The Apple Watch Theft Incident at Delhi Airport T3

Dr. Mehta's ordeal began at the T3 security checkpoint at Delhi Airport, where he placed his Apple Watch in the tray for screening. After clearing the security check, he realised that his watch was missing. The doctor initially sought help from the CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) officer on duty, but when he couldn’t find the watch in his bag or pockets, he decided to take matters into his own hands.

Dr. Mehta quickly turned around and noticed a man acting suspiciously, walking away from the security area. He decided to confront the individual. To his surprise, the suspect was seen entering the Helios store at the airport, which sells Titan watches. Upon confrontation, the doctor immediately reached into the suspect’s pocket, where he found his stolen Apple Watch.

The Suspicious Connection Between the Suspect and Helios Store Staff

When Dr. Mehta attempted to retrieve his Apple Watch from the thief, a staff member from the Helios store named Shoaib intervened, creating confusion by acting as though the situation was none of his concern. This raised suspicion, and Dr. Mehta realised that the store employee and the thief might have been working together.

After a brief heated argument, Dr. Mehta managed to take back his watch. The suspect, identified as Md Saqib, managed to flee the store. Meanwhile, the Helios employee, Shoaib, tried to cover for him, which further pointed to a possible theft racket operating at Delhi Airport.

CISF Response and Public Reaction

As Dr. Mehta made his way toward the gate, he was approached by another CISF officer who demanded an apology for his “rude behavior.” However, the situation quickly diffused when Dr. Mehta contacted a senior official who was a patient of his. After a brief conversation, the officer let Dr. Mehta go, allowing him to continue his journey.

The viral tweet caught the attention of CISF, which responded with a comment requesting Dr. Mehta to share his PNR and contact details so they could investigate the matter further. The incident sparked a flood of reactions from netizens, with many expressing their shock at the ease with which the theft occurred in such a secure area of the airport.

Concerns About Security at Delhi Airport

Several users took to the comment section of Dr. Mehta's tweet to express their own concerns. One user revealed how they constantly feel anxious when passing through security, fearing the loss of valuables like electronics. Another commented on the outdated security systems at many airports, lamenting the good old days when passengers could leave their electronics inside their bags during screening.

Some users even questioned how individuals like Saqib and Shoaib could operate freely in such a secure zone. One user suggested that Dr. Mehta could have used the “Find My Watch” feature on his phone to track the stolen device, which would have triggered an alarm.

New Twist - Doctor Deletes Account After Claims Busted by CISF and Ministry Official

In a significant update, a user named Kanchan Gupta, whose bio states that he works in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has called Dr. Tushar Mehta’s claims untruthful. Addressing the viral incident on X, he wrote, “It appears Dr. Tushar Mehta was untruthful while narrating an incident that never occurred. It's unfair to concoct stories that undermine trust in security organizations like @CISFAirport. @dr_tushar_mehta has since deleted his X account. That only raises questions about his integrity.”

Adding to the twist, Airport Security CISF also released a statement contradicting Dr. Mehta’s claims. Their tweet read, “The review of the CCTV has contradicted the sequence of events as narrated above. After security check, you were seen wearing your watch and heading for the boarding gate without interaction with any CISF personnel. The boarding was completed smoothly and hassle-free.”

The CISF further stated, “Posting of such unsubstantiated messages creates unnecessary apprehension in the minds of passengers, hence avoidable.”

The turn of events has cast doubts on the authenticity of Dr. Mehta's claims, with many questioning the reasons behind his now-deleted X account.
