How Would It Benefit Meerut Economy?
Meerut, also known as Kranti Dhara, is famous for being the country’s top manufacturer of music instruments, cricket bats and inflatable balls as well as sugar and electronics goods.
The launch of Meerut Metro expansion would put the unsung hero of India’s cultural and sporting arsenal onto the global stage. The city is home to more than 500 manufacturers of musical instruments, supplying everything from DJ consoles to tabla sets. Meerut is also home to premium willow bats that have been and still used by prominent Indian cricket stars.
However, the music & sports equipment powerhouse has often been bottlenecked by endless traffic jams and chaotic roads. A commute from Meerut to Delhi NCR could often feel like a test match inning. Thankfully, the Meerut Metro would slash the travel time to the country’s capital by half.
Meerut Metro would connect key notes: Begumpul (cricket hub), Paratpur (industrial belt) and Shastri Nagar (music district) along with many other industrial hubs.
Metro Access would translate to faster inflow of raw materials and exports via nearby freight corridors. The Kranti Dhara stations are likely to feature augmented reality exhibits on the 1857 legacy of Meerut, cricket simulators for fans and live music pods showcasing santoor virtuosos. More and more people from Delhi NCR would turn up to the city’s Nauchandi Fair (Asia’s largest rural mela) immediately after Holi and Augarnath Temple that could easily rival the heritage trails of Jaipur.
