According to reports, the flight bound for Chicago had to turn back due to an unexpected issue with its washrooms. The aircraft, carrying over 300 passengers, was forced to return over Greenland after 11 out of 12 washrooms became clogged, making them unusable. With limited access to toilets, the airline had no option but to head back, causing massive inconvenience to passengers. The viral video shows the unfolding chaos inside the plane, as distressed passengers were left frustrated and disgusted by the situation.
According to an Air India spokesperson, the flight landed safely, and all passengers and crew disembarked without any problems. To minimise inconvenience, the airline provided accommodations and assured alternative travel arrangements for the affected passengers.
Additionally, Air India announced full refunds for cancellations and complimentary rescheduling for those who wish to adjust their travel plans. The airline is also investigating the cause of the clogged washrooms to prevent such incidents in the future.
The viral video has been viewed by thousands of users on social media, with many sharing their opinions. A user commented, “Never imagined such a thing happening on a flight.” Another said, “Well, I’m surprised the 12th one wasn’t clogged. That’s the real story.”
A third added, “Imagine flight toilets behaving like train toilets.” A fourth wrote, “That must have been an absolute nightmare for the passengers and crew! A 10-hour journey with only one working bathroom sounds unbearable. Hopefully, Air India takes corrective measures to prevent such issues in the future.”
The incident has ignited discussions about airline hygiene and maintenance, highlighting the importance of ensuring fully functional facilities on long-haul flights
