Noida International Airport: RK Singh, the Chief Executive Officer of Noida International Airport, has remarked that all arrangements are in place for the historic first flight of IndiGo on June 15, 2026.

According to media reports, IndiGo would operate the highest number of flights in the initial phase followed by Air India Express and Akasa Air.

Director Priyadarshan has strongly reacted to rumours claiming that actor Tabu was unhappy after her scenes were allegedly reduced in Bhooth Bangla. Reports had suggested that a major portion of her role was removed during editing, leading to dissatisfaction on the sets and even tension involving Akshay Kumar.

However, Priyadarshan has now dismissed the claims and made it clear that there is no truth to the speculation.

Priyadarshan Denies Tabu Fallout Rumours

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Priyadarshan addressed the ongoing chatter surrounding Tabu’s role in the horror-comedy. Several reports claimed that the actor was upset because her screen time had been cut down in the final version of the film.

Reacting firmly, the filmmaker said, “I don’t know why and who is spreading this negative news. I am the director of Bhooth Bangla, and I decide what to keep and what not to. The film is a big success, but yet, some are trying to spread negativity. Tabu is not upset at all. I have done eight films with her, and if she was upset, she would have told me. She is happy. Everything she shot for is a part of the film.”

The rumours did not stop at Tabu’s reduced scenes. Some reports also claimed that Akshay Kumar had asked for changes in the edit to increase his own screen time. Priyadarshan denied that as well. Defending Akshay, he said, “Also, Akshay didn’t ask me to edit any part; he never does. I do my work with honesty, and every actor comes and sees the film before the release. Whoever is spreading such rumours should be ashamed.”

Tabu and Priyadarshan share a long creative partnership. The actor has worked with the director in several memorable films, including Kaalapani (1996), Virasat (1997), Hera Pheri (2000) and Snegithiye (2000).

Senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema criticised the BJP-led Central Government over the ₹994 hike in commercial gas cylinder prices immediately after elections, stating, “₹994 hike in commercial gas cylinder prices is a direct assault on workers and small businesses.” He asserted that the decision was deliberately delayed until after polls and added that the hike would severely impact the food industry and labourers dependent on affordable meals.

Harpal Singh Cheema also targeted the Congress for walking out of the special Assembly session on labour rights, stating, “Congress walking out of special session on labour rights reflects anti-Dalit and anti-poor mindset.” He said that such conduct shows the party’s intent to evade accountability and divert attention from issues concerning workers and marginalised communities.

Raising concerns over democratic institutions, Harpal Singh Cheema stated that the BJP is weakening the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar and warned that policies affecting schemes like MGNREGA and attempts at horse-trading pose a serious threat to democracy. Responding to Congress’ demand for an alcohol and dope test of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, he said this was a politically motivated attempt to defame the Chief Minister amid allegations of land encroachment involving Congress leaders.

He further added that the conduct of the Congress during the session reflected a petty mindset and said that both BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal have exposed their anti-people face.

AAP Punjab State President Cabinet Minister Aman Arora criticised both BJP and Congress for their conduct during the special session, stating, “The session was convened to discuss critical pro-people issues including laws to prevent sacrilege and to uphold workers’ rights, but BJP remained absent while Congress disrupted proceedings and walked out.”

He added, “Congress has stabbed workers in the back and attempted to suppress the government’s message through chaos and baseless allegations. Their conduct on such an important day is shameful.”

AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal dismissed BJP’s attempts to create political instability, stating, “There is no internal rift within AAP and the party remains united.” He said, “BJP’s attempt to hold a parallel assembly session outside the Vidhan Sabha only reflects that they lack the numbers to function within the Assembly. They can make as many attempts as they want but they will not succeed in forming a government in Punjab.”

Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO drew a contrast between ordinary labourers and economic offenders, stating that while workers repay their loans honestly, individuals like Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi fled the country with crores. He said this highlights the integrity of the working class and exposes the failures of past systems that protected such offenders.

AAP MLA Labh Singh Ugoke stated that previous Congress ministers embezzled scholarships meant for Scheduled Caste students, alleging that funds worth crores were siphoned off. He added that the AAP government has ensured timely and direct transfer of scholarships along with welfare measures such as pensions for women.

MLA Anmol Gagan Maan reaffirmed her commitment to the party, stating that AAP has given leaders like her the opportunity to serve and grow. She expressed confidence that the party will continue to expand across the country and affirmed that its leaders remain committed till their last breath.

AAP leader and Punjab State Media In-charge Baltej Pannu criticised the BJP for organising a parallel “people’s assembly,” stating that it is a political stunt by a party that lacks representation in the Assembly. He also questioned BJP’s governance record in its ruled states, citing examples of Manipur and Uttar Pradesh, and said that BJP Punjab leaders must present the data of their governed states to the people, while asserting that Punjab is the safest state today.

1 Lakh Dialysis Sessions, ₹16.5 Crore Covered: Bhagwant Mann Govt’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna Emerges as Lifeline for Kidney Patients

So far, around 1 lakh dialysis procedures, worth ₹16.5 crore, have been performed under the Bhagwant Mann Government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY).

As chronic kidney disease rises across India, government-backed cashless dialysis programmes are emerging as a lifeline. Yet experts warn that survival is still being shaped more by access and affordability than by cure.

Dhian Singh from Ludhiana visits the hospital twice a week. For someone who has been undergoing long-term dialysis, he often faces a range of persistent physical and metabolic symptoms, even with regular treatment. However, there is some relief when it comes to financial assistance, the use of the Sehat Card. “Ever since I registered for the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, I have been getting my dialysis free of cost at Simrita Nursing Home,” says the man who has received cashless treatment more than a dozen times so far.

For patients living with chronic kidney disease (CKD), life does not move in days or weeks. It moves in cycles of a machine. Two to three times a week, for nearly four hours at a stretch, blood is drawn from the body, filtered through a dialysis unit, and returned cleansed of toxins that failing kidneys can no longer remove. It is a procedure that sustains life, but does not restore health.

Across India, CKD has become a major public health concern, closely linked to the rising burden of diabetes and hypertension.

Public health experts estimate that hundreds of thousands of patients progress to end-stage kidney disease each year, requiring either long-term dialysis or kidney transplantation to survive. Globally, the World Health Organization classifies CKD as one of the fastest-growing non-communicable diseases, driven by ageing populations and lifestyle-related risk factors. In India, however, the crisis is compounded by cost.

A single haemodialysis session can cost between ₹1,500 and ₹4,000 in the private sector. With most patients requiring two to three sessions a week, annual expenses can quickly run into several lakhs, well beyond the reach of most households without sustained financial assistance. For many families, treatment decisions are shaped as much by economics as by medical need.

It is in this space that government-supported programmes such as the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY) in Punjab are playing a critical role in preventing treatment discontinuity.

In most patients, CKD is essentially the final pathway of multiple long-term conditions that silently damage kidney function for years before symptoms appear. Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, dialysis services are offered free of cost in government and empanelled private hospitals, reducing out-of-pocket expenditure that earlier forced many patients to skip or delay sessions.

On this, Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh said, “1 lakh free dialysis treatments, worth 16.5 crore have been delivered under Sehat Yojana so far. No patient should miss dialysis due to cost.”

A nephrologist, Dr Sourav Goyal from Delhi Heart and Multispeciality Hospital, Moga, emphasises that the impact of financial coverage in dialysis care goes far beyond convenience. “Dialysis is not curative; it is a life-sustaining therapy. If a patient misses even one or two sessions, toxins accumulate rapidly, and complications can become fatal,” Dr Goyal says. “What cashless access ensures is continuity, and in dialysis care, continuity is survival,” he adds.

Sharing his experience, he adds, “We perform more dialysis sessions each month than we used to earlier, and many are conducted as part of cashless treatment. This is a huge support for patients and also a relief for us as doctors, as it prevents treatment discontinuation due to financial burden.”

He further highlights that India’s larger challenge lies in early detection. “Most patients are diagnosed very late, when kidney function is already severely compromised. At that stage, options are limited to dialysis or transplant.”

Medical research consistently shows that a significant proportion of CKD patients in India face catastrophic health expenditure, with families often exhausting savings or falling into debt within months of starting treatment.
