  • Artificially ripened mangoes may feel soft on the outside but remain hard or raw inside. When cut open, they may show uneven ripening, with patches of white or overly firm flesh.
  • Chemically treated ones may have little to no smell or sometimes an unusual, pungent odour.
  • Check for powdery residue on the skin. Calcium carbide-treated mangoes may have a whitish or greyish powder on their surface.
  • Place the mango in a bucket of water; naturally ripened mangoes usually sink, while adulterated ones may float due to internal chemical changes.

WHO has remarked that the outbreak of measles, a highly contagious viral disease, in Bangladesh has already gripped 58 out of 64 districts in the country across all 8 divisions. Till 2024, the country had a high rate of immunization but a drop especially in 2025 made the outbreak deadly.

According to several media reports, at least 91 percent of the measles cases were found among children between the age of 1 and 14. It was also revealed that 43 people have died since March 15 in 2026 due to measles while the approximate count of suspected measles deaths is close to 216.

Steps Initiated By Bangladesh Government

The Tarique Rahman-led BNP government is facing a series of challenges to control the alarming situation. It has now launched an emergency vaccination drive to target young children as young as six months old.

Paediatric Medicine and Neonatology Professor Dr Begum Sharifun Naher commented that routine vaccination disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic caused the outbreak. Naher also noted that supply constraints, lockdowns and vaccine hesitancy during this period caused many families in the country to miss scheduled doses.

On April 20, the Bangladesh government has initiated a nationwide measles-rubella (MR) vaccination drive in collaboration with UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) to prioritize high-risk areas.

Paediatric specialist Dr. Samira Islam Nisha who is also the indoor medical officer of Dhaka Medical College commented that misinformation and parental negligence are contributing factors for the Bangladesh measles outbreak.

The Union Government also requested the backing from the judiciary for a coordinated framework on a national level covering telecom regulators, banks and investigating agencies.

A bench led by Surya Kant, the Chief Justice of India, is likely to evaluate the status report that was filed by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs. This report lays down a series of enforcement measures across banking safeguards, SIM traceability, platform accountability and a legal framework on compensation for victims.

These measures constitute a considerable escalation ever since the country’s highest court formed an Inter-Departmental Committee (IDC) for addressing the pandemic of digital arrests and scams.

What Led To The Development?

Constituted on December 26, the IDC decided that victims should not be bearing losses that are attributable to negligence by telecom providers, banks or other regulated entities. On October 17, the Supreme Court took suo motu cognisance after fake SC orders were used by fraudsters posing as CBI officials to cheat a 73-year-old Ambala woman after she was compelled to transfer more than Rs 1 crore.

It came to notice of the law enforcement agencies that fraudsters routinely cycle via a series of SIM cards and accounts while they were still operating from the same handset.

The mother of Raja has criticized the bail verdict and casted doubts on how a murder accused and mastermind could be granted bail.

In May 2025, Sonam Raghuvanshi murdered her husband during their honeymoon trip to East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. The body of Raja was found in a gorge after the couple were reportedly missing from Sohra.

Confession Of Sonam Raghuvanshi

Sonam Raghuvanshi was detained in the state of Uttar Pradesh. She allegedly confessed to conspiring with Raj Kushwaha, her lover, and three accomplices. Sonam’s lover and the other three would stay in custody as the bail petition was only filed by Sonam.

A bail petition was filed by the legal aid cell of East Khasi Hills district and session judge court on grounds that a chargesheet has been filed after the completion of the case’s investigation. It was also argued by Sonam that she had and will continue to cooperate with the murder investigation.

Sonam’s father and cousin arrived in Shillong to provide the release’s surety bond.

Additional DC (Judicial), Shillong, Dashalene R Kharbteng, commented that the Police referred to a wrong penal section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the “Intimation of Grounds of Arrest” form shown to her had the checkboxes unticked. It was also commented by the court that there was nothing on record to demonstrate that Sonam had legal representation when she was first produced on June 9, 2025, before the Ghazipur Court. Therefore, the plea in the context of non-intimation of arrest grounds could not be raised earlier.

Meanwhile, Sonam’s brother, Govind has commented that Sonam would not be allowed to stay with them at the family home. Govind claimed that he would move out of the home if his parents decided otherwise.

The change means Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai will no longer clash with Lakshya and Ananya Panday‘s Chand Mera Dil. Fans had seen multiple date changes in recent weeks, but the latest reshuffle has finally brought the Varun Dhawan starrer back to its first announced schedule.

Varun Dhawan Confirms New Release Date

On April 29, Varun Dhawan shared a fresh poster on social media and confirmed the new plan. He also thanked Yash and Maddock Films for helping reset the calendar.

He wrote, “JUNE 5 TH 2026 in theatres Thankful to @thenameisyash and @maddockfilms for helping us reset the calendar as our film hai jawani toh ishq hona hai will now release on its original date. The first film to release post ipl.”

Earlier, the film was first set for June 5. It was then shifted to June 12 after Toxic locked June 4. Later, the makers surprised fans by preponing it to May 22. Now, with Toxic postponed, the film has returned to June 5.

The quick date switch triggered mixed reactions online. One user wrote, “lmao as soon as they heard Toxic Postponed they moved back, they didn’t even wait.”

Another commented, “2 actresses who have subpar acting skills. & David Dhawan, who has lost his mojo…Pehle se hi flop lag rahi hai.”

The film also carries emotional value as it could be director David Dhawan’s final movie. The veteran filmmaker recently hinted at retirement during an interaction with ANI.

He said, “I don’t think I should do more. Vo to chahta hi nahi main kaam bhi karu healthwise dekhkar (Varun doesn’t want me to work, considering my health). This might be my last film… after this, I’ll just be Varun’s father. I will look after you… look after your family. Main ghusunga nahi Varun ki picture main (I won’t be involved in his picture), but I’ll be there with him all the time.”
