Heatwave Impact: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that several states in the country could face unbearable summer conditions and Heatwave conditions. Weather conditions would be intolerable in Bihar, Vidarbha (Maharashtra), Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

Heatwave Impact Explained

Now, several economic and health experts have warned that the scorching heat could also cut productivity levels, increase medical costs and squeeze economic growth.

According to industry and media reports, the country has already lost $159 billion till now in lost productivity as workers were unable to operate at peak output. It was added that the country could end up losing about 2.5 to 4.5 percent of India’s GDP during the summer months of April, May, June and July.

It is believed that the Middle East crisis coupled with scorching sun during summer months could translate to loss of foodgrains’ production and supplies in the country, translating into widespread inflation and chaos. Moreover, inflation and the lack of material availability could lead to the closure of many factories and businesses, leading to the loss of employment and hiring freezes.

Employees working in agriculture, construction and informal urban labour sectors are expected to be the worst hit. In particular, outdoor workers may lose substantial income as they may find it challenging to work during peak heat hours.

Early Monsoon Alert Respite

Thankfully, it has been forecasted by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) that the southwest monsoon in India could make an early start this year.

According to recently-released data, southern India could receive rainfall as early as late May. Monsoon is expected to reach the Andaman and Nicobar Islands between May 18 and 25 this year. For the country’s rain-dependent region, early rain showers could mean a timely start to agricultural activities and relief from the scorching heat.

Online Gaming Rules 2026: The Union Government has notified the comprehensive regulatory framework for new online gaming rules. These rules would ban real money games in India while increasing support for social gaming and e-sports online.

Enacted by Parliament in August 2025, the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming (PROG) Act, 2025 is set to come into effect next week, on 1 May 2026.

Online Gaming Rules 2026–What Would It Change For Players And Customers?

The new rules define framework for user safety features. This includes transparency and grievance redressal obligations for e-sports service providers and specific categories of online social games. The rules completely ban money games across India while only e-sports and online social games being allowed to operate.

Under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming (PROG) Act, a game’s terms of service should display prominently the designate point of contact and relevant details while following data retention guidelines and observe the required directions issued on facilitation of payments. Furthermore, the revised rules list out deposit of money or payment of fees, revenue models, expectations of monetary winnings and how in-game assets would be monetized out the game as factors determining whether a certain game is a “real money game”.

Sections 115BBJ and 194BA of the Income-tax Act would be applied to any income that gets generated on different gaming platforms and treated as ‘income from other sources.’

Delhi Police Reports 250 Illegal Apps

More than 250 sports betting and illegal gambling apps have been reported by Delhi Police over issues of betting and cheating scams. A senior police officer from the police headquarters remarked that we have been preparing a comprehensive list of illegal online gaming apps since October 2025.

Delhi Police arrested 2 men in December 2025 who were betting on international cricket matches and started an app called ‘Project Plus 2025.’ Another Police Officer remarked that Delhi Police has written to social media platforms and Play Store NOT to promote these websites and apps.

He explained that the comment was made during a discussion about a performance from the song “Aaj Ki Raat” from Stree 2. The actor insisted that his intent was not disrespectful and that people misread the situation due to language and perception differences.

Annu Kapoor Defends ‘Dudhiya Badan’ Remark On Tamannaah Bhatia

Kapoor revisited the incident in a recent interview with Siddharth Kanan and described the setting in which the remark was made. He said the conversation was part of a creative discussion about performance evaluation during one of his professional assignments abroad.

He explained, “Last year, I had shows in America. I told our creative team that the contestants are good, so suggest a googly-type song. Then they played this song ‘Aaj Ki Raat’. I said the composition is very good. They said the song is very popular but contestants won’t be able to score in it, so it can be a googly song because the ‘mukhda’ doesn’t fully land. I asked them to show me the video. I watched it and said she is dancing very well. That’s all that happened.“

Kapoor further argued that the phrase became controversial because it was spoken in Hindi. According to him, similar expressions in English often do not attract the same reaction.

He said, “If you say it in English, it’s fine, but in Hindi it becomes a problem. Abuse in our own language hits harder, but if you say the same thing in English, no one has an issue. If I had said ‘milky body’, there would have been no problem. What age would she be – 28, 30? My children are that age. Just because I said ‘dudhiya badan’, people started calling me an old man and trolling me.”

Actor Open To Apology If Tamannaah Feels Hurt

Kapoor also addressed whether he would apologise for the remark. He stated that he is willing to make amends if it caused discomfort to Tamannaah Bhatia.

He said, “If she asks me whether I said it, I will say yes, I did. If you felt bad, I will touch your feet. If a 71-year-old man touches her feet, what will she say? Nothing, because I am not doing it with any wrong intention.”

As of now, Tamannaah Bhatia has not issued any response regarding the controversy.

In terms of financial enforcement, ₹263 crore of assets connected to 548 drug dealers have been seized. The administration has focused on tracking illegal financial activities and dismantling networks through cooperative intelligence collaboration.

Public engagement has been tremendous in the launch of “Pind De Pehredar,” with 150,000 people volunteering and becoming grassroots vigilantes in their villages. School and community awareness campaigns are helping build the anti-drug use campaign.

Delhi News: The Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta would soon be undertaking the 55 kilometres elevated road plan, spanning across the MG Road. According to officials, the first phase would include an 11.5 kilometres stretch between Kashmere Gate interstate bus terminal (ISBT) and Ashram or DND Flyway. This would help visitors to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport cut down significantly on their travel time.

The chronic traffic congestion scenario of the capital city has long been characterized by peak-hour snarls to unpredictable bottlenecks, turning commuting across the city like a test of patience.

According to officials, the plan for the elevated Ring Road has been formulated on the basis of a preliminary project report. Presently, a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared by the consultant AECOM, following which the required approvals as well as financial clearances would be taken. It is estimated that on-ground construction is likely to initiate around the next 6 months.

First Phase Inclusions

In the first phase, a 9.5 kilometres section from Azadpur to Kashmere Gate ISBT may be taken up. PWD minister Parvesh Verma commented that the options for the stretch’s alignment for all the 6 phases are under the stages of preparation. Verma added that the one from the ISBT to Ashram is the most feasible with the least amount of concerns such as permissions, shifting of utilities, land acquisition and trees in the alignment elevated Metro line.

The project is likely to be executed in 6 phases, including plans for redesigned intersections, elevated corridors and seamless integration with public transport systems. AECOM would also conduct geotechnical investigations, environmental & social impact studies and traffic and mobility assessments while also preparing cost estimates, engineering designs and implementation strategies that are supported by simulation tools and traffic modelling.

This Aditya Dhar directorial has finished its fifth week, where collections have dipped below the Rs 2 crore daily mark amid rising competition from new releases. While the sequel opened strong and maintained a solid run in earlier weeks, its weekday performance has slowed down.

Despite this, the film remains one of the major earners of the year. However, its current phase reflects a natural decline as it approaches the end of its theatrical journey. The latest numbers show that while Dhurandhar 2 has crossed impressive lifetime milestones, its fifth-week performance is significantly lower compared to its first part.

On Day 36, Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge collected around Rs 1.40 crore net in India, according to trade reports. This takes the fifth-week total to approximately Rs 19.37 crore. The film’s total India net collection now stands at over Rs 1,122 crore, while its gross figure has crossed the Rs 1,340 crore mark.

The film had a massive start, earning Rs 674.17 crore in its first week, followed by Rs 263.65 crore in Week 2. Week 3 and Week 4 saw gradual drops, collecting Rs 110.60 crore and Rs 54.70 crore respectively. The arrival of new releases, including Bhooth Bangla, has further impacted its daily numbers.

The most talked-about comparison this week is between Dhurandhar 2 and its predecessor. The first instalment performed much stronger in Week 5, collecting around Rs 51.25 crore, while Dhurandhar 2 managed only Rs 17.97 crore in the same period.

This creates a noticeable gap of nearly 65%, highlighting how sequel momentum has slowed down despite a strong opening phase. While initial hype drove huge numbers, audience interest naturally tapered in later weeks.

Amit Shah: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed supreme confidence that a decisive victory is waiting for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the West Bengal assembly elections. Shah said the next West Bengal CM will be a Bengali and not the nephew of Mamata Banerjee as the state is facing an anti-incumbency tsunami now.

Record Voter Turnout-BJP Sets Winning Margins

Speaking at a press conference today, Shah remarked that internal party assessments have revealed that the party could conquer more than 110 out of the 152 seats that were contested in the polling’s first phase.

Political stalwarts and everyone in the country were left stunned when the state of West Bengal reported an exceptionally high voter turnout of 92.58 percent in the first phase of polling.

Shah remarked that the record voter turnout is a clear endorsement by the common man of the country of development under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah predicted that the exit of Trinamool Congress government was near and BJP is all set to embrace a sweeping victory.

Amit Shah-Anga, Banga and Kalinga Will Have BJP Governments

Referring to Assam, Bengal and Odisha, Amit Shah said Anga, Banga and Kalinga will have BJP governments next month. BJP already won Odisha in 2024 after ending the 24-year tenure of Naveen Patnaik by winning 78 seats in the Odisha Assembly elections.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to win Assam under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma. According to several media reports, BJP is also likely to win or at least give a tough fight to the sitting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. If the BJP becomes successful to win the states of Assam and West Bengal, it would conquer Anga, Banga and Kalinga (the previous names of Assam, Bengal and Odisha).

The second phase of West Bengal assembly elections would happen on April 29 and the results would be out on May 4, 2026. The results would either be a 4th successive win for Mamata Banerjee or the 1st ever win of BJP in the state of West Bengal.

Salman Khan officially confirmed Eid 2027 release schedule of his upcoming big-screen project (tentatively titled SVC63).
Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, this film will also mark his first collaboration with Nayanthara, and a mahurat glimpse has already been shared.

However, the announcement has triggered a wave of online debate. As soon as Salman revealed the release timing, social media users began speculating a possible box office clash with Spirit starring Prabhas and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Reports suggest both films may target the same festive window, setting up a potential mega box office showdown.

Salman Khan Announces Eid 2027 Release Plan

Salman Khan confirmed the release through a post on X. He wrote, “Thoda durr ki sochna chahiye, That’s why announced Eid.. Don’t worry, iss wali ka bhi bataenge, when the time is right. Patience, thoda sa sabar Mere Jitna he intezar karna padega, Baherhaal jo apka haal hai wo hi mera bhi haal hai. Haha, have to think a little ahead—that’s why I announced Eid. Don’t worry, we’ll reveal the other one too when the time is right. Patience, just a little patience. You’ll have to wait as long as I am. Anyway, the way you’re feeling right now—I’m feeling the same.”

After the announcement, the clash buzz with Spirit has taken over online discussions. Fans and trade watchers are divided over what could happen if both films are released around the same time. Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Director debuted with Prabhas…… Didn’t expect them to clash.”

Another commented, “thodi si bhi achhi movie banayi hogi. to mast clash hoga and bhai winning.”

A third user said, “Spirit is coming 5 days early, so it’s semi-clash.”

One more shared, “There is no way these films clash. Coz Prabhas hasn’t started full-fledged shoot of spirit and vanga is working around Prabhas’s scenes and shooting those..”

A netizen tweeted, “If bhaijaan is gonna do the same what he has been doing since last few years, then Spirit will win this clash.”

Kanpur News: In news that has sent shockwaves through the legal community of India, a 24-year-old advocate at the Kanpur courthouse in the city’s Kotwali area on Thursday afternoon.

According to CCTV footage obtained by the Uttar Pradesh Police, Priyanshu was seen speaking on his phone before he took the step.

DCP East Satyajit Gupta remarked that the smartphone of the young advocate revealed a note posted as a WhatsApp status. Gupta added that Priyanshu was immediately taken to the Ursula Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Turn Of Events

The note by Priyanshu revealed his mental anguish and prolonged struggles. He wrote that his inability to clear the Provincial Civil Service-Judicial (PCSJ) exam after completing his LLB in 2016, financial hardships and the poor health of his father along with difficult conditions at home and the burden of family responsibilities were the reasons behind taking the arduous step.

Priyanshu wrote that no one was responsible for this step and his mother should not be troubled by anyone.

In the note, Priyanshu wrote about his bitter relationship with his father who used to scold, taunt and threaten him for several years. Priyanshu added that no child should have a similar father and added that his father should not be allowed to touch his body and ended the note by saying, “Papa, you won… congratulations on your victory.”

Priyanshu mentioned an incident from his childhood when was just 6 years old and was punished by his father after he was secretly drinking mango shake from the fridge. Priyanshu added that he was punished in a humiliating way and that memory stayed with him. It was further added that the constant pressure of studies, being beaten, constant suspicion, the lack of trust, years of mental torture and being monitored all the times were his reasons of taking his life.
