US Israel Iran War: Will Oil Top $250 A Barrel? Iran Grants Special Strait Of Hormuz Access For India Ships, Can This Solve LPG Shortage?

US Israel Iran War

US Israel Iran War: In a major diplomatic win for India, Iran has allowed tankers with an Indian flag to pass via the Strait of Hormuz. This was after S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister of India, met Abbas Araghchi, his counterpart from Iran, amid the US Israel Iran war.

Easy Access For India-Flagged Ships

MT Parimal oil tanker and MT Pushpak oil tanker, two tankers of India, have been allowed to pass safely via the Strait of Hormuz. Interestingly, ships linked to Israel, Europe and the United States are still facing challenges.

Earlier, Alireza Tangsiri, a Rear Admiral with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN), remarked that two ships were targeted as they had ignored the strict warnings of Iran not to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Israel Iran War Implications

The ongoing US Israel Iran War has now continued for almost 2 weeks, causing mass-scale energy crisis across the world. This was after the Islamic Republic of Iran initiated attacks on merchant ships and oil reserves. Iran also attacked the Salalah port in Oman. This was after the joint forces of Israel and the United States targeted oil storage facilities in Iran.

Iran attacked a Thailand-flagged cargo ship carrying crude oil that was bound for India. It is believed that crude oil prices may touch a staggering $200-$250 a barrel if the war does not end soon.

Significance Of The Strait of Hormuz

More than 20-25 million barrels of crude oil, which is approximately one-fifth of the world’s global oil consumption, pass via the Strait of Hormuz. Moreover, a considerable large share of world’s liquefied natural gas also passes through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has indicated to Asian, Arab and European countries that their crude oil ships may be allowed passage freedom via the Strait of Hormuz if they expel Israeli and American ambassadors from their controlled territories. In short, Iran is turning the most critical energy corridor of the world into a geopolitical bargaining chip.

The advance booking numbers of Dhurandhar 2 are getting stronger every day. The spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh is showing excellent response in both overseas markets and India. With just a few days left for release, the film has already crossed big milestones in ticket sales.

Dhurandhar 2 Advance Booking Numbers Beat Animal In Canada

According to the latest update, the film has performed exceptionally well in Canada and North America. It has even managed to beat the record of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal in advance booking overseas. Trade experts believe the strong pre-sales show that the film could open with huge numbers at the box office.

Reports say that nearly 40,000 tickets have been sold in Canada for the first weekend, earning around C$600k. Box office analyst Jitinder Singh has said that the film may soon cross 1 lakh tickets overseas, which would be a major record for an Indian film.

In India too, the response is very strong. As per Sacnilk, around 4,10,444 tickets have already been sold. The film has earned Rs 21.37 crore in advance booking without block seats, while the total collection goes up to Rs 26.51 crore with block bookings included.

Most of the sales are from the Hindi version, which has sold more than 3.8 lakh tickets. Apart from Hindi, bookings have also come from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada versions. This shows that the film is getting good response from different regions.

Trade analysts say that if the trend continues, Dhurandhar 2 could become one of the biggest openers of 2026.

Ranveer Singh Starrer To Clash With Ustaad Bhagat Singh

There has also been a change in the box office clash. Earlier, Dhurandhar 2 was expected to release with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, but that clash is no longer happening. Now the film will compete with Ustaad Bhagat Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan, which is also releasing on March 19.

The Telugu film also stars Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna and is directed by Harish Shankar. However, the director has said that he is not worried about the clash. He said, “We aren’t competing with Dhurandhar 2 at the PAN-Indian level. We are focusing only on the Telugu states.”

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2 continues the story of undercover agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who takes control of Karachi’s Lyari underworld to destroy the financial network of the ISI. The film also shows his mission to find the mastermind known as Bade Sahab.

The movie has a big cast including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Yami Gautam in a special appearance.

The film has a long runtime of around 3 hours and 55 minutes, making it one of the longest Indian films in recent times. After its theatrical run, the movie is expected to release on JioHotstar, although the OTT date is not confirmed yet.

Donald Trump: The Trump administration has opened a new trade investigation into manufacturing in different countries. In an announcement, 16 economies including India have been highlighted for unfair trade and manufacturing practices.

The administration would now start investigations under Section 301 of the United States Trade Act 1974. This could result in new import taxes.

Donald Trump To Levy New Taxes

Donald Trump may levy new import taxes on some of its largest trading partners such as the European Union, China, India, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Mexico. Other countries include Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Switzerland, Norway, Indonesia, Singapore and Bangladesh.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer commented that the United States of America would no longer sacrifice its industrial base to countries that may be exporting their concerns with excess capacity and production with the United States. Greer added that the investigations underscore the commitment of President Trump to create good-paying jobs for the workers of America across its manufacturing sectors and reshore critical supply chains.

Greer commented that the United States of America has lost significant domestic production capacity or has worryingly fallen much behind competitors from foreign competitors.

US Trade Act Of 1974

Section 301 of the US Trade Act of 1974 is designed for addressing unfair foreign practices that impact US commerce. It may be used for responding to unreasonable, unjustifiable or discriminatory practices by foreign governments burdening or restricting the sphere of commerce in the United States.

Recently, a bilateral trade deal was announced by India and the United States. This resulted in Trump administration reduce its economic tariffs to 18 percent from 50 percent. The tariff reduction came after a guarantee by New Delhi that it would not purchase crude oil from Russia. After the Iran war broke out, the Trump administration “allowed” India to buy crude oil from Russia so that the energy crisis does not get worsened.

Actor Aamir Khan recently opened up about his bond with his son Junaid Khan and shared some interesting details about their relationship at home. The superstar revealed that Junaid not only defeats him in chess but also takes his own decisions when it comes to films.

Junaid is currently preparing for his upcoming film Ek Din, which will also mark the Bollywood debut of South actor Sai Pallavi. The film is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions and is inspired by the Thai movie One Day. The project has already created curiosity among fans.

Aamir also said that he originally wanted Ek Din to be Junaid’s debut film. However, because of his own work commitments, the plan changed and Junaid’s earlier projects were released first.

Aamir Khan On His Bond With Son Junaid Khan

During a recent interaction, Aamir said that he behaves more like a friend than a strict father with his children. He shared that Junaid, Ira and Azad have a very open and simple relationship with him.

Aamir Khan further claimed that his son understands cinema very well. He added that Junaid has a strong interest in scripts, editing and storytelling, and they often talk about films like colleagues.

He also shared a childhood memory. Aamir revealed he taught Junaid how to play chess when he was only four years old. For many years, Aamir kept winning the game. But things changed when Junaid turned 18. That was the first time Junaid defeated him, and since then Aamir says he cannot beat his son anymore.

Aamir said, “He always wins. And one more thing. Junaid does not consult me about anything he takes on. I believe he has signed two films, one of which is with Ektaa Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms. He decides these things himself and that’s great.”

Junaid Khan Picks Films Without Aamir Khan’s Advice

Aamir also spoke about how Junaid handles his career on his own. Even though he is the son of one of the biggest stars in Bollywood, Junaid prefers to choose his films without asking for advice. Aamir said he respects this attitude and believes every actor should take responsibility for their own decisions.

He also reminded that he had earlier said he would not launch his son just because he is family. In a 2024 interview, Aamir explained why he does not believe in giving special treatment.

He had said, “As a son, you might feel, ‘Arey, aap mere liye film produce kar do,’ voh mujhse hoga nahin. Agar aapko kaam nahin aata to main aapke saath film produce nahi kar paunga. Main apni audience ko dhokha nahi de sakta hoon (As a son, you might feel that I should produce a film for you, but I won’t be able to do that. I can’t fool my audience).”

Meanwhile, Junaid will next be seen in Ek Din, which is expected to release on May 1. The film stars Sai Pallavi as the female lead. Reports also suggest that he may appear in Ragini MMS 3 with Tamannaah Bhatia.

On the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par. He is now working on his next production Lahore 1947 (Retitled Batwara 1947) starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. Fans are waiting for the actor to announce his next film.

Heatwave Alert: India Records First Heatwave of 2026, Temperatures Rise Sharply, Where’s the Climate Change Headed?

Heatwave-Alert
Google

Heatwave Alert: The first heatwave of 2026 has occurred in India, which creates climate pattern monitoring problems for meteorologists and environmental scientists. The quick temperature increase that affected multiple areas of the country has caused authorities to issue heatwave warnings because summer weather patterns have started to develop earlier than normal.

Temperatures Rise Earlier Than Expected

The temperatures in India have increased beyond normal limits for several days now. The mercury has exceeded the normal seasonal temperature range in some areas,, which now experience heatwave conditions. Indian heatwaves typically occur during the months of April and May, but weather observers did not expect this intense hot weather to arrive during early spring.

Why Are Heatwaves Becoming More Frequent?

Scientists believe that climate change and global warming cause more frequent heatwaves, which we now experience. The rising global temperatures have disrupted natural weather patterns, which have resulted in more frequent and intense extreme heat events. Urbanization and deforestation, together with increasing greenhouse gas emissions, create environmental problems.

Health and Environmental Concerns

Heatwaves create dangerous conditions that exceed their typical effects of discomforting people. Extreme heat results in dehydration, together with heat exhaustion and heatstroke after people spend extended time in extreme temperatures. The elderly outdoor workers and children who are vulnerable groups face elevated health risks. Extreme heat creates health problems, which also disrupt agricultural activities and limit water resources and increase electricity usage.

What are experts saying?

Heatwave Alert: Weather experts, together with climate researchers, call on both authorities and citizens to treat heatwave warnings as urgent matters. People can protect themselves from heat-related dangers through preventive measures, which include staying hydrated and avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours and wearing light clothing.

LPG Shortage: Instant Pots And Electric Cookers Fly Off Shelves, Hotels And Restaurants On The Verge

LPG Shortage

LPG Shortage: A massive surge in demand for electric rice cookers and instant pots could be seen in many parts of the country, especially metro and tier-2 and tier-3 cities amid the ongoing shortage of commercial Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shortage.

LPG Shortage-What’s The Big Concern?

Small eateries, hotels and restaurants across the country have now been counting on instant pots and electric rice cookers to manage daily cooking without relying on Liquefied petroleum gas.

According to retailers, the spike in demand for electronic cooking appliances is primarily driven by students staying in bachelors living alone and hostels.

Across India, many hostels have issued notices that they would only be offering basic meals for the time being. It was also communicated that self-cooking facilities could not be entertained because of the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders.

Eateries Hit By Commercial LPG Shortages

In many parts of the country, popular breakfast options such as idlis, dosas, poha, chole bhature and biryani are now facing the heat. Small eateries, hotels and restaurants have been forced to shut down or cut down on their menus. Many are contemplating delayed opening hours and the ripple effects of commercial LPG cylinders are seen by students, office-goers and families who depend on them.

In Coimbatore, the iconic Annapoorna Hotel chain issued a public statement saying severe restrictions have been imposed on the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders and therefore we would focus only on essential items.

Several hotels, restaurants and eateries in Hyderabad and Bengaluru are on the verge of temporarily closing down. A warning was issued by the Bengaluru Hotels Association revealed that commercial gas cylinder supplies have been stopped. It added that those would depend on it (such as senior citizens, common people, students, bachelors and others) would find it difficult in their daily meals.

Uttam Nagar Murder Case: The Delhi High Court has issued an interim order halting the demolition of homes connected to suspects in the Uttam Nagar murder case. The case relates to the killing of 26-year-old Tarun Bhutolia during Holi celebrations on March 4, 2026.

Justice Amit Bansal directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to avoid any further demolition. The court’s order came after families of the accused approached the court with urgent petitions.

The court clearly stated that no coercive action should be taken against the properties until the next hearing.

Partial Demolition Triggered Legal Challenge

Before the court’s intervention, the MCD had already demolished parts of one accused person’s property on March 8. Officials described the action as a removal of “illegal portions” of the building.

However, the move raised concerns among the families of the accused and legal experts. They argued that demolitions linked to criminal cases should follow proper legal procedures rather than appear as immediate punishment.

No Evidence of Communal Angle So Far

Authorities and reports so far have not indicated any religious motive. The incident has largely been described as a clash that took place during Holi celebrations.

While some social media discussions attempted to link the issue with religious identity, the court proceedings have focused only on legal rights and due process.

Monalisa Bhosle: ‘God Save Her, Kerala Story 3…’ Netizens In Shock After Viral Mahakumbh Girl Marries Muslim BF Farman Khan

Monalisa Bhosle, who went viral during the Mahakumbh Mela in 2025, has married her boyfriend Farman Khan in Kerala. The 18-year-old tied the knot on March 11, 2026.

The wedding took place at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Soon after the news surfaced, the interfaith marriage started trending online. Many social media users reacted with shock, while others began debating the situation.

Monalisa, often referred to online as the “amber-eyed girl” after her Mahakumbh video went viral, is also working on films. However, the events leading up to the wedding involved family disputes and police intervention.

Monalisa Bhosle Marriage: Family Claimed She Was Still A Minor

Before the wedding, there was confusion about Monalisa’s age. Her family initially claimed she was still a minor. Because of this, the marriage plans faced questions. Later, the Kerala Police checked her documents and confirmed she was born in 2008. This means she is legally an adult. Under Indian law, adults can choose their life partner. Because of this, Monalisa was legally allowed to marry without parental consent.

Despite that, the relationship faced strong opposition from her family. Her father, Vijay Singh Bhosle, reportedly travelled from Indore to Kerala to bring her back. He claimed she was being misled. Monalisa told authorities that she had left home on her own. She also said her family was pressuring her to marry a relative.

The couple then approached the Thampanoor Police Station for protection. Monalisa told officers she wanted to stay in Kerala and marry Farman. Police later provided security and informed her father that she could make her own decisions.

Monalisa Bhosle Marriage Shocks Netizens

After the wedding news spread, many users shared their reactions online. Read some user comments below:

“Oh, man! That’s sad.”

“God save her. Kerala story 3.”

“Apne career ka satyanash ka diya. She can get a good place in films there.”

“This guy clearly groomed her and Kerala government is willingly allowing this marriage, considering they were in a relationship when she was 16/17. I guess she will be the poster child for love jihad propaganda.

“And why muslim girls are not allowed to marry Hindus?”

“She should have been given protection, not married off to a man she met when she was 16. That’s grooming. She was a minor with limited education who was suddenly pushed into the public spotlight by the media. Then, at such a young age, she ends up in a relationship with a man she reportedly met on a film set when she was around 16 or 17. That raises serious concerns. The Kerala government should have focused on providing her with protection and support, and advised her to make such decisions when she was older and more mature. If reports are accurate, she has just turned 18 while the man is in his late 20s. That kind of age gap, starting from when she was a minor, cannot simply be ignored.”

The wedding was attended by political leaders including V Sivankutty and MV Govindan. Supporters said their presence showed support for interfaith marriages. The couple said they chose Kerala because they believed it would allow them to marry without disturbance.

Opposition opposed giving ₹1,000 to women, that’s why it ran away from budget discussion: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann

CM Mann

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday said the opposition abandoned the Budget debate because it could not defend its opposition to giving ₹1,000 to women, asserting that parties which kept people poor for decades are now uncomfortable with the empowerment of ordinary families under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Describing the fifth annual budget of the Punjab Government as the “Budget of the martyrs’ dreams,” the Chief Minister said the budget is aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh, while reaffirming that the Punjab Government has delivered on all its election guarantees within four years and is now preparing its agenda for the 2027 Assembly elections. He also said the opposition already knows that a government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann will return to power in 2027, which is why it chose to run away from the debate instead of facing the truth before the people.

Concluding the debate on the Budget for the financial year 2026–27 presented by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “For the first time in the history of Punjab, a government has fulfilled all its election guarantees within four years. The manifestos of traditional parties were merely formalities. With the support of the people, we will continue serving them with the same spirit in 2027. For the first time, a government treated its budget as a sacred document and fulfilled every promise made to the people.”

Congratulating Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema for presenting a people-friendly budget, the Chief Minister said that the budget focuses on providing facilities to those whose progress is often hindered by financial constraints. “The budget includes providing benefits of the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojna to 97% of women, providing free ration to 40 lakh families under the ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme, and offering cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh,” noted CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

He added that earlier budgets were limited to paving streets and drains, whereas the present government is focusing on providing world-class education to children, quality healthcare services, and building medical colleges.

The Chief Minister said that to provide quality healthcare facilities to people and enable youth to fulfil their dream of becoming doctors while staying in Punjab, seven medical colleges are being established in the state. “These colleges will be built in Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Sangrur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Lehragaga, Malerkotla and Ludhiana, which will add 600 MBBS seats,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. He further noted that 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics have recorded five crore OPD visits, reflecting people’s trust in the healthcare services.

Taking note of the criticism of the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojna by opposition leaders, the Chief Minister said that wealthy leaders of traditional parties are deliberately insulting poor people. “Traditional parties never worked for the welfare of the poor, due to which many families still struggle with poverty and find it difficult to arrange two meals a day,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

He added that these leaders are uncomfortable with the economic empowerment of the poor and pointed out that while they educate their own children in convent schools in the hills, they want poor families to remain deprived of quality education.

The Chief Minister said that after the Punjab Government started Schools of Eminence, children from underprivileged families are now clearing examinations such as JEE, JEE Mains and NEET. “The Meri Rasoi scheme will ensure nutritious food for 40 lakh families, especially their children,” added CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. He explained that under the scheme each family will receive a kit containing 2 kg sugar, 2 kg pulses, 1 litre mustard oil, 200 grams turmeric and 1 kg salt.

Highlighting employment generation, the Chief Minister said that the creation of 10,000 posts in the Punjab Police will provide opportunities for youth and further strengthen the force. “The Punjab Government has already provided around 64,000 government jobs to youth so far,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. He also said that the Sardar Bahadur Amin Chand Armed Forces Preparatory Institute in Hoshiarpur has been completed and admissions will begin this year, enabling youth to prepare for service in the armed forces.

Referring to efforts to ensure canal water reaches tail-end areas and reduce dependence on groundwater, the Chief Minister said that recent data reflects encouraging results. “According to data presented in the Rajya Sabha by the Central Ground Water Board, groundwater levels have increased in 57% of observation wells in Punjab, with the rise mostly ranging between 0 to 4 meters,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

He further said that to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, a Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur World-Class University is being established at Sri Anandpur Sahib as a tribute to the great Guru. The Chief Minister added that the 650th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj will be celebrated on a large scale and ₹100 crore has been allocated in the budget for this purpose.

Criticising the opposition for constantly opposing welfare initiatives, the Chief Minister said that opposition parties had earlier claimed that free electricity could not be provided, yet the Punjab Government successfully fulfilled the promise. “They also claimed that Bhagwant Singh Mann would not remain Chief Minister even for a year, yet I have been serving as Chief Minister for four years,” noted CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. He asserted that he will continue to serve as Chief Minister even after the 2027 elections.

Reiterating his stand on Punjab’s rights, the Chief Minister said that neighbouring states often call Punjab their “elder brother” but simultaneously attempt to exploit its resources. “Himachal Pradesh sometimes calls Punjab its elder brother while demanding a share in Chandigarh and royalty on water, while Haryana raises the demand for the SYL canal,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

He added that because of the firm stand taken by the Punjab Government, for the first time Haryana has not allocated funds for the construction of the SYL canal in its budget.

Taking a dig at the absence of opposition members during the debate, the Chief Minister said that opposition leaders have never been serious about the issues of their constituencies and predicted that they will also disappear from the political map in 2027. “The Congress party is suffering from internal factionalism and cannot return to power,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. He added that the party’s condition has deteriorated to such an extent that it now wants to contest Assembly elections without declaring a Chief Ministerial face.

Holding the Shiromani Akali Dal responsible for damaging Punjab’s generations, the Chief Minister said that the party pushed youth into the quagmire of drugs and the path of gangsterism, which ruined entire generations. “Zomato was formed much later, but during the Akali government drugs were transported in government vehicles,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The Chief Minister further remarked that the Shiromani Akali Dal, which finished third in the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections, is day dreaming about forming the government in Punjab. “The Punjab Government is fully committed to the well-being of Punjab and the prosperity of its people, and no stone will be left unturned to achieve this goal,” affirmed CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that the government will continue safeguarding the interests of the people of Punjab and take every possible step for their welfare.

As Eid Ul Fitr 2026 approaches, kitchens across South Asia are gearing up to prepare the festival’s iconic dessert Sheer Khurma. This sweet vermicelli pudding has been a staple for generations, symbolising joy, generosity and togetherness. Traditionally made with vermicelli, whole milk, sugar and dates, it is served to family and guests on Eid morning.

However, this year, the classic dessert is seeing a modern twist. Rising health awareness and changing food trends have inspired cooks to reinvent Sheer Khurma while keeping its festive spirit intact.

What Makes Sheer Khurma So Special

Sheer Khurma, meaning “milk with dates” in Persian, is a creamy and flavourful dessert. Its rich texture and aromatic taste make it a comfort food tied closely to Eid celebrations in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Traditionally, the dessert is made with:

  • Vermicelli roasted in ghee
  • Thickened whole milk
  • Sugar or jaggery
  • Dates, raisins and mixed nuts
  • Cardamom, saffron and sometimes rose water

This combination creates a luxurious pudding that is often served warm after Eid prayers.

But traditional Sheer Khurma is high in calories and sugar, which can make it difficult to enjoy for those monitoring their diet or managing health conditions like diabetes.

Eid Ul Fitr 2026: The Modern, Health-Conscious Sheer Khurma

This year, many chefs and home cooks are creating healthier versions of Sheer Khurma without losing its classic taste. The focus is on reducing sugar, using lighter milk options and adding nutrient-rich ingredients.

Modern trends for 2026 include:

  1. Low-Sugar Substitutes: Using jaggery or date-based sugar instead of refined sugar to lower calories and glycaemic impact.
  2. Lighter Milk Options: Toned or skimmed milk replaces full-fat milk to reduce saturated fat.
  3. Portion Control & Additions: Smaller servings and extra nuts make the dessert healthier while keeping it tasty.

Despite these updates, the essence of Sheer Khurma remains unchanged. It continues to represent celebration, sharing, and community. Whether prepared traditionally or with a modern twist, this dessert is still a highlight of Eid morning.

As health becomes a growing priority, timeless favourites like Sheer Khurma are evolving to stay both relevant and delicious in Eid Ul Fitr 2026 and beyond.
