WB CM Mamata Banerjee Tries to Make SIR a Poll Issue in Bengal, Will it Cut Ice With The Voters?

Mamata Banerjee
Google

Mamata Banerjee: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has moved aggressively to turn the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls into a major political issue ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Positioning herself as the defender of ordinary voters, she has alleged that the SIR process is riddled with errors that risk excluding genuine citizens from voting.

Banerjee has claimed that lakhs of voters were flagged under “logical discrepancies,” including cases where living individuals were marked as dead or wrongly linked through family mapping with older voter rolls. By personally addressing the Supreme Court and leading protests on the streets, she has framed the issue as one of harassment and fear, particularly for the poor, migrants, and minorities.

What Will Be BJP’s Concern

The BJP, however, sees SIR through the lens of electoral integrity. The party has consistently argued that West Bengal’s voter lists contain large numbers of fake, duplicate, or deceased voters, especially in border districts. According to the BJP, a clean-up is essential to ensure free and fair elections, and resistance to SIR only strengthens suspicions about inflated rolls benefiting the ruling party.

BJP leaders have dismissed Banerjee’s allegations as political theatrics designed to shield questionable entries. For the party, backing SIR also aligns with its broader pitch on law, order, and demographic concerns, hoping to reassure voters that the exercise will restore balance rather than cause injustice.

SIR Concerns and Election Commission’s Reaction to Allegations

The Election Commission has defended SIR as a standard verification exercise carried out before major elections. Officials have clarified that being flagged for discrepancies does not mean automatic deletion, but only a requirement for verification through hearings.

The Supreme Court, while acknowledging concerns raised by Banerjee, has stressed transparency and safeguards.

Responding to the dating rumours, the singer said, “We are still discovering ourselves. Still figuring out ourselves, I would just like to leave it at that because if they’re going to try to spread the rumours, I am going to let the rumours be rumours.”

Talwiinder avoided confirming or denying the relationship. However, his response has kept the curiosity alive. His decision to stay guarded has only added to the ongoing speculation around his bond with the actress.

During the same interview, Talwiinder made a remark that quickly caught attention. When asked about his emotional state, he said, “I fall in love every day. I am falling in love right now.”

Although he did not take Disha Patani’s name, the timing of the comment has raised eyebrows. With recent public appearances fresh in memory, many fans believe the statement hints at his current phase of life. As expected, the comment has further fuelled dating rumours.

Here’s How The Rumours Started

The rumours first surfaced after a video from Nupur Sanon’s wedding in Udaipur circulated online. In the clip, Disha Patani was seen holding Talwiinder, which quickly caught public attention.

Later, Talwiinder was spotted at the Mumbai airport with O Romeo actress, trying to hide his face from the paparazzi. The buzz grew stronger when the two attended the Lollapalooza event in Mumbai together. Videos showed them holding hands and leaving the venue in the same car.

These repeated sightings have kept fans guessing about the real equation between Disha Patani and Talwiinder.

Talking about the singer, Talwiinder has gained popularity with songs such as “Pal Pal”, “Haseen”, “Funk Song”, “Khayaal”, “Dhundhala”, and “Kammo Ji”. He has performed at several live shows and also opened for Dua Lipa’s Mumbai concert, marking a key moment in his career.

For now, neither Disha Patani nor Talwiinder has confirmed the relationship. Still, their recent appearances and carefully chosen words continue to keep the spotlight firmly on them.

India US Trade Deal: Asim Munir, Shehbaz Sharif Face Public Ire, ‘Father Of All Deals’ After ‘Mother Of All Deals’ Unsettle Pakistanis

India US Trade Deal: Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio a few months before the India US trade deal. Doval told Rubio that India does not have any problem waiting for the tenure of Donald Trump to end but would not bow down to unreasonable expectations and demands.

India signed the ‘Father of all deals’ after signing a whopping deal with the 27-member European Union bloc that was termed as the ‘Mother of all deals’.

The high-handedness of India and its silent treatment to Trump’s rhetoric along with a ‘mistress’s treatment to Pakistan’ has not gone well with the Pakistani media and public.

Reaction Of Pakistani Media

For months, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir have been trying all kinds of antics to woo the US President. These initiatives included the nomination of the US President by Pakistan for the Nobel Peace Prize 2025 and joining his Board of Peace. On the other hand, India held firm against all sorts of pressure tactics by the Trump administration during India US trade deal negotiations.

Adding to the optics, the US President posted a picture of the India Gate and an India Today magazine cover featuring himself alongside the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Trump later announced that US tariffs on ‘Make in India’ products would be reduced to 18 percent compared to 19 percent on Pakistani goods.

Social Media Reactions

Social media platforms such as X and Instagram were soon flooded with critical and sarcastic reactions from Pakistani media and public.

Umar Ali, a Pakistan-based X user, posted an AI-generated image that showed Field Marshal Munir in a distressed mode holding a box of rare minerals.

Many Pakistanis were left in complete disbelief when Trump dropped the deal truth bomb. That was soon followed by sarcasm and anger. Pakistani media and public soon started publicly courting the US President.

Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga are set to reunite after the massive success of Animal. The duo is now gearing up for its sequel Animal Park. A recent update from the two has made it clear that the next chapter will be bigger, darker, and far more intense.

Ranbir and Sandeep recently interacted with fans in Japan after a special screening of Animal. The event took place ahead of the film’s release there on February 13. During the interaction, both spoke openly about returning to the Animal universe and what lies ahead in the sequel. Their comments quickly grabbed attention and sparked fresh excitement among fans.

Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up About Animal Park

Ranbir Kapoor, who worked with Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the first time in Animal, shared how excited he is to step back into the world of the film. The actor spoke about the creative clarity behind the sequel and why it excites him as a performer.

He said, “I can’t wait to get back on set with Sandeep and play this character! Now there is another character. Because it is a continuing story, he had the story of Part 2 also very clear in his mind while filming Part 1. It’s very exciting and inspiring for me as an actor. Both of us keep chatting and discussing different ideas.”

Sandeep Reddy Banga Hints At A ‘War’

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga also shared key details about Animal Park and its central conflict. The filmmaker revealed that the sequel will raise the stakes significantly and will go on floors after PrabhasSpirit.

He said, “Animal Park will start soon once I finish the current film. There will be more animals as Aziz is another animal. Keeping that in mind, it will now be a war between the two brothers, who look alike. So I thought Animal Park would be the right title. I will start the shoot in mid-2027.”

About Ranbir Kapoor Starrer Animal

Released in 2023, Animal was a violent action drama that explored a broken father-son relationship. Ranbir Kapoor played Ranvijay Vijay Singh, a character shaped by emotional distance and childhood trauma. Anil Kapoor’s role as the distant father added depth to the story. Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri and Bobby Deol were also seen in important roles.

Despite mixed reactions, Animal became a huge box office success and reportedly earned over Rs 900 crore worldwide. Now, expectations are even higher for Animal Park. Although the shoot is still some time away, the buzz around the sequel has already begun. If these updates are any indication, audiences can expect a much bigger and more intense experience next time.

Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched the Suzuki Access 125 with single-channel ABS, making it one of the most affordable scooters in India to offer ABS. Priced from Rs 92,328 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the update marks a significant step towards improved rider safety in the mass-market 125cc scooter segment.

With this launch, the Suzuki Access becomes the first mass-market 125cc scooter in India to feature ABS, a safety feature previously limited to larger and more premium scooters.

Suzuki Access 125 with ABS: What’s New?

The key highlight of the update is the addition of single-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS), which is available exclusively on the top two variantsRide Connect ABS and Ride Connect TFT ABS.

Until now, ABS has largely been seen on 150cc-plus scooters such as the Yamaha Aerox 155, TVS Ntorq 150, Aprilia SR 175, and Hero Xoom 160, where it is mandated by regulation. Suzuki’s decision to introduce ABS on a smaller and more affordable scooter is a voluntary move, aimed at enhancing rider safety.

Variants and Pricing

The Suzuki Access 125 with ABS is available in the following trims:

  • Ride Connect ABS – Rs 92,328 (ex-showroom)
  • Ride Connect TFT ABS – Rs 98,378 (ex-showroom)

These variants command a premium of Rs 3,601 and Rs 4,501, respectively, over their non-ABS counterparts. Despite the price hike, the Access continues to remain among the most affordable ABS-equipped scooters in the Indian market.

No Mechanical Changes

Mechanically, the Suzuki Access 125 remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 8.4hp of power and 10.2Nm of torque. The engine is known for its refinement, fuel efficiency, and reliability, which have contributed to the scooter’s strong sales performance over the years.

Segment Impact

The Suzuki Access is one of India’s best-selling 125cc scooters and Suzuki’s highest-volume product. The addition of ABS strengthens its appeal, especially for safety-conscious urban riders. Industry experts believe this move could prompt other manufacturers to introduce ABS in smaller-capacity scooters as well.

Safety Gets a Boost in the 125cc Segment

With the introduction of single-channel ABS, Suzuki has raised the safety benchmark in the 125cc scooter category. The update reinforces the Access 125’s position as a well-rounded family scooter offering comfort, practicality, reliability, and now enhanced braking safety.

AAP Punjab Slams BJP Over Modi-Trump “Secret Deal”; Warns It Will Destroy Indian Farmers and Hand Over Nation’s Markets to America

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab today launched a fierce attack on the BJP-led Central Government over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged “secret trade deal” with US President Donald Trump, warning that the agreement is a direct conspiracy to ruin India’s farmers and destroy the country’s agriculture economy.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh on Wednesday, AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said it is shocking and humiliating that when the issue concerns India’s future and the livelihood of over 80 crore people, the details are not being shared by the Prime Minister in Parliament, but are instead being revealed through Trump’s tweets.

“Who is Trump to the people of India? He may be Mr Modi’s “friend”, but why is he announcing India’s policies on social media while the Prime Minister maintains silence? What deal has been struck behind closed doors, and why is it being hidden from the nation?” the AAP leader asked.

Dhaliwal warned that under this deal, the BJP is preparing to open India’s doors for American agricultural goods at zero tax, which will destroy Indian farmers by flooding the market with cheaper imported products. “This is not trade. This is surrender. This is BJP’s plan to finish the agriculture sector in India so that their capitalist friends can profit,” Dhaliwal said.

Dhaliwal reminded that farmer unions and several Chief Ministers had earlier warned the Centre that if any agreement is made with the US, agriculture must be kept out because Indian farming is already in deep crisis. “But BJP is again trying to bring the same ‘black farm laws’ back through the back door,” he said.

Dhaliwal also raised alarm over the health and food safety risks of chemical-heavy American produce and warned that the deal could also force India to stop purchasing oil from Russia and shift to costlier imports from the US, leading to massive inflation. “When fuel becomes expensive, everything becomes expensive. This deal will hit every household,” he stated.

Dhaliwal also cornered BJP’s Punjab leadership, asking why they are maintaining a criminal silence on an issue that directly threatens the state’s backbone – agriculture. The AAP spokesperson questioned whether BJP leaders in Punjab have the courage to tell farmers where they will go once American wheat, maize, soyabean, cotton, dairy, fish, meat and other products enter India at near-zero tax and destroy local markets.

“Punjab is a farming state. If this deal is implemented, what will happen to our wheat belt, our cotton belt, our dairy farmers, and our own fish markets? BJP Punjab leaders must answer, where will our farmers go, where will our agriculture go, and what future will be left for Punjab?” the spokesperson asked.

MLA Dhaliwal demanded that PM Modi immediately disclose the full agreement, including all terms and conditions, in the Lok Sabha and to the people of India.

Dhaliwal declared AAP will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with farmers and will fight this “anti-farmer, anti-Punjab, anti-India” deal both inside Parliament and on the streets until it is scrapped. “Punjab is the backbone of India’s agriculture. If this deal is implemented, Punjab will be devastated. AAP will not allow BJP to sell India’s farmers for political friendships and corporate profits,” the party asserted.

Senior leadership from Baring Private Equity India Investment Managers LLP, JM Financial Ltd, Avendus Wealth Management, Neo Wealth and Asset Management, OAKS Asset Management, Alvarez & Marsal, and Think Law participated in the roundtable. Discussions focused on strengthening the MSME-to-large-enterprise pipeline through patient capital, governance support, and strategic market access, positioning Punjab as a preferred destination for MSME-led industrial growth.

During the roundtable, the CEO of Invest Punjab made a detailed presentation on Punjab’s reform-driven governance framework, the FastTrack Punjab single-window system, and time-bound approvals, while the Administrative Secretary, Investment Promotion, highlighted the State’s commitment to policy certainty and investor facilitation. The session concluded with an interactive open house and networking luncheon, enabling direct dialogue between investors and the Government of Punjab delegation.

Following the roundtable, the delegation held focused meetings with UAE-based DP World to discuss logistics, rail-linked inland terminals, and multimodal infrastructure aimed at strengthening Punjab’s export competitiveness. This was followed by interactions with Avenue Supermarts, UPL Limited, and the International Institute of Sports Management, covering sectors such as organised retail, agri-inputs, food systems, and sports education and infrastructure. These engagements underscored Punjab’s diversified sectoral opportunities across manufacturing, services, agri-business, logistics, and emerging industries.

A representative from Invest India also participated in the day’s engagements alongside the Government of Punjab delegation, reinforcing collaborative efforts to attract domestic and global investments into the State and align Punjab’s investment outreach with national investment promotion initiatives.

The Mumbai Investment Roadshow continues to serve as a strong platform for engaging institutional investors, industry leaders, and financial partners, while formally extending invitations for their participation in the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026. The X300’s slim 7.95mm body and high-end features make it a favourite for users seeking “small phone, big specs.” Industry observers suggest the X300e could offer similar advantages at a lower price point.

What the “e” Variant Could Bring

Leaked information indicates the X300e may target value-conscious users without compromising key features. Vivo has experimented with “e” or FE models in past series to broaden access to flagship experiences. While details like display, camera, and battery remain unconfirmed, the model is expected to balance performance with cost, possibly trimming premium hardware to make it more accessible.

Pricing and Availability

Early rumours place the X300e around ₹59,990 in India, making it a potential competitor for other compact flagship devices. No official launch date is currently available, but the appearance in the IMEI database often precedes announcements by several months. Users and tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting leaks on chipset details, camera capabilities, and possible design tweaks.
