A post from Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s X handle alleges that videos and photos of women and girls bathing at the religious event are being sold online. It is claimed that such content is circulating on platforms like Telegram, Facebook, and YouTube.
This controversy has sparked outrage, with many questioning the security measures in place. Akhilesh Yadav has strongly criticised the Yogi government, demanding immediate action to address the issue and ensure the safety of female devotees.
A report by the India Today news group has caused a stir on social media. The report claims that photos and videos of women bathing and changing clothes at Maha Kumbh 2025 were shared on social media and Telegram. Some of these images were even used as thumbnails for teaser videos. According to the report, some individuals are making money by selling these videos on platforms like Facebook, Telegram, and YouTube. This revelation has raised serious concerns about women's safety and the security arrangements at Maha Kumbh 2025.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who has often criticised the Yogi government over mismanagement, has once again spoken out strongly.

Referring to this shocking report, he wrote, "It is a very indecent and sensitive matter that the BJP government has failed to protect the honor of women in Maha Kumbh. There is a lot of anger among the devotees on the news of the pictures of women power who came to earn merit in Maha Kumbh being sold openly. It is the duty of the government to protect the dignity of women, is the government not becoming a partner in this illegal business by earning GST from this online sale."
He further said, "Uttar Pradesh and National Women Commission should take immediate cognizance and become active and strict action should be taken against all those responsible. Totally reprehensible!"
