Delhi Metro: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced major improvements for the comfort, security and convenience of passengers, with the introduction of Integrated Last Mile Connectivity Services.

The DMRC has now entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Ltd (STCL), which is a mobility service provider and a multi-state cooperative society operating the platform branded as ‘Bharat Taxi’.

This initiative by DMRC is focused on strengthening first- and last-mile access to the sophisticated network of Delhi Metro. The initiative also addresses the growing concerns related to air pollution in the Delhi NCR region by promoting the use of efficient, environment-friendly modes of transport.

An initiative of the Indian Union Ministry of Cooperation, the ‘Bharat Taxi’ platform is designed to promote cooperative-based economic models while making sure that fair and transparent service delivery is facilitated.

The collaboration between STCL and DMRC aims to offer safe, reliable and affordable connectivity services from metro stations through auto-rickshaws, cab services and taxis.

DMRC plans to launch the service from 10 Delhi NCR metro stations: New Delhi, Nehru Place, Vaishali, Sikandarpur, Millennium City Centre (Gurugram) and Botanical Garden (Noida). Lajpat Nagar, Rajiv Chowk, Hauz Khas and Kashmere Gate are the other stations.

Dementia Diet-Core Foods and Beverages to Include

Ideally, you should load up on nutrient-dense staples every day. Green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach and fenugreek deliver folate, vitamin K and beta-carotene to fight brain atrophy and lower systolic pressure by 5-10 mmHg.

For people in the age group of 20-40 years, it is best to avoid HFSS diet:

  • Avoid more than 5 grams of salt every day
  • Avoid more than 25 grams of sugar every day
  • Avoid more than 30 grams of fat every day
  • Avoid more than 10 grams of saturated fat every day

In a major move aimed at simplifying provident fund access, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is preparing to allow PF withdrawals directly through UPI (Unified Payments Interface). The new facility is expected to be rolled out by April this year, bringing significant relief to crores of EPFO subscribers across India.

EPFO Withdrawal via UPI: What’s Changing

Under the proposed system, EPFO members will be able to withdraw a portion of their provident fund using their UPI PIN, with the money being transferred directly to their linked bank account. This marks a major shift from the existing claim-based process, which involves documentation and waiting periods.

The initiative is part of EPFO’s broader digital push to make fund access faster, safer, and more user-friendly.

Full Withdrawal Not Allowed, Minimum Balance to Be Protected

According to sources, EPFO will not allow complete withdrawal of the PF balance through UPI. A minimum amount will be mandatorily retained in the account to ensure long-term financial security for employees.

This protected portion will continue to earn high EPFO interest rates along with the benefit of compound interest, ensuring that members’ retirement savings remain intact.

Secure Transactions Using UPI PIN

The withdrawal process will be fully secured through UPI PIN authentication, similar to other digital payment platforms. Once credited to the bank account, members can:

  • Use the amount for digital payments
  • Withdraw cash via ATM
  • Spend using a debit card

This will allow employees to access their funds quickly during emergencies or urgent financial needs.

Relief from Lengthy Claim Process

Currently, EPFO members must file a formal claim to withdraw PF money. Although the auto-settlement system credits funds within about three days, the process still requires paperwork and verification.

The upcoming UPI-based PF withdrawal system is expected to drastically reduce these formalities, making withdrawals almost instant and hassle-free.

Experts believe this move will not only improve convenience for employees but also strengthen digital governance, enhance financial inclusion, and align EPFO services with India’s fast-growing digital payment ecosystem.
