He made it very clear that he was not satisfied with this agreement and therefore rejected it.

Questions on the Absence of Signature

He mentioned that all the agreements signed between August 2020 and June 2026 were signed by him. He asked why this specific agreement was formulated without his consent and suggested that they could wait for his availability.

Concerns Over Security Protocols

The former general secretary also raised concerns over the implementation of security measures during cash counting. He alleged that certain banking procedures, including frisking staff and using uniforms without pockets inside the chest room, were not properly enforced and questioned why these rules were allegedly overlooked.

Harmeet Singh Kalka, president of the DSGMC, mentioned that seminars would be conducted at various educational institutions affiliated to the organization. The members of the committee have also been told to conduct screenings of the movie in their respective areas so that more people can view the movie.

The movie titled Satluj has been directed by Honey Trehan, and the lead actor is Diljit Dosanjh. The movie is about the activist’s endeavors in documenting illegal killings and cremations during the chaotic times in the state. It was originally named Panjab 95, and it took quite some time to get certified.

Verka (Milkfed Punjab) recorded a turnover of ₹551 crore in June 2026, up from ₹480 crore during the corresponding month last year, registering a growth of 14.79%. The achievement comes as the CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government continues to focus on expanding the cooperative dairy sector through higher milk procurement, improved processing capacity and greater emphasis on value-added dairy products.

On this, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Milkfed Punjab has recorded a turnover of ₹551 crore during June 2026, compared to ₹480 crore during the same month last year. This extraordinary increase of ₹71 crore represents a 14.79% year-on-year growth and reflects the growing strength of Punjab’s cooperative dairy sector along with the ever-increasing consumer confidence in the Verka brand.”

“Milk procurement has also increased by nearly two lakh litres per day during June, registering around 11% growth over last year. This growth is nearly double the national average growth rate of 5 to 6%, demonstrating the remarkable progress being made by Punjab’s cooperative dairy movement,” said the Chief Minister.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further said, “This achievement is fully aligned with our government’s vision of strengthening the cooperative movement and improving the economic well-being of dairy farmers across Punjab. We have consistently focused on expanding processing capacity, promoting value-added dairy products, improving market access and ensuring better returns for milk producers.”

“The strong performance during June has been further reinforced by impressive growth in several value-added dairy products. Table Butter registered a growth of 94%, UHT Cream 213%, UHT Milk 20%, Ice Cream 22%, Tetra Pack Lassi 30%, Ghee 41% and Dairy Whitener 58%. This clearly reflects the growing consumer preference for Verka’s high-quality dairy products across the State,” he added.

The Chief Minister noted, “This outstanding performance has been driven by a better product mix, improved market execution and increasing consumer preference for Verka’s value-added products. Our government remains fully committed to further strengthening Milkfed through continued investment in dairy infrastructure, technology adoption, product innovation, cold-chain expansion and market development.”

“Punjab’s cooperative dairy movement is emerging as a strong engine of rural prosperity, employment generation and farmer empowerment. I congratulate the management of Milkfed, its employees, cooperative societies and lakhs of milk producers whose collective dedication and hard work have made this remarkable achievement possible,” said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister stated, “We will continue making sustained investments in milk procurement, modern processing infrastructure, cold-chain development, product innovation and market expansion. Passengers travelling between Varanasi and Jalandhar may soon get the convenience of a Vande Bharat Sleeper train, as the Railways is preparing to introduce the service. The proposed train is expected to operate all seven days of the week, offering a faster and more comfortable overnight travel option.

According to reports, the train is likely to run via Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi, keeping in view the heavy traffic on existing routes. The proposed alignment is expected to provide direct connectivity to passengers travelling between eastern Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and onward destinations in Jammu.

Railway Ministry has not yet announced the official launch date

The introduction of the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train is expected to significantly reduce travel time while offering modern onboard amenities, including comfortable sleeper coaches, improved passenger facilities and enhanced safety features for long-distance journeys.

Although the Railway Ministry has not yet announced the official launch date or the final route, preparations are reportedly underway. Railway authorities have directed the concerned departments to complete the necessary operational and infrastructure arrangements ahead of the service’s introduction.

As part of the preparations, Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam and Varanasi Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ashish Jain recently inspected Varanasi railway station along with senior officials. The team reviewed passenger amenities, station infrastructure and operational readiness to ensure smooth functioning once the train is introduced.

During the checking campaign, officials issued 526 challans against vehicles found violating safety regulations. In addition, three school buses were seized for serious violations, reflecting the government’s zero-tolerance approach towards lapses in student transportation safety.

The minister said the inspection drive is focused on ensuring that school buses are equipped with mandatory safety features, possess valid documents and are operated in accordance with transport regulations. Drivers and vehicle operators are also being reminded to strictly follow road safety norms while transporting children.

According to the government, the campaign will continue across the state with regular inspections to improve accountability among school transport operators. Authorities have urged educational institutions to ensure that all school vehicles comply with safety guidelines before being put into service.

Bhagwant Mann on Monday continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, by carrying out statewide operations against drug trafficking networks. As part of Day 492 of the campaign, police arrested 152 alleged drug smugglers from different parts of the state.

During the operation, police recovered 15.6 kg of heroin, 499 intoxicant pills and ₹5,350 in suspected drug money from those arrested. The seizures were made during raids and checking operations conducted by teams across Punjab.

Apart from enforcement action, the campaign also focused on rehabilitation. Punjab Police said five individuals were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment as part of efforts to reduce drug dependence and reintegrate affected individuals into society.

The anti-drug drive is being carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in coordination with district police units. Authorities said regular intelligence-based operations are being conducted to identify drug suppliers, dismantle trafficking networks and curb the illegal narcotics trade across the state.

Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against drug smugglers while simultaneously promoting rehabilitation for individuals battling addiction. The force said both law enforcement and de-addiction initiatives remain key pillars of the state’s strategy to tackle the drug menace.
