Delhi Pollution Breather For Delhiites! Cleaner Skies, AQI Improves, GRAP III Curbs Lifted, Will It Sustain,Check

Delhi Pollution
Google

Delhi Pollution: The people of Delhi have been able to breathe much more easily with the lifting of the Stage III restrictions on their air quality, due to a significant drop in the levels of air pollution throughout the National Capital Region (NCR). After almost two months of being subjected to severe air pollution levels and many restrictions, it appears that the city is on the verge of being able to breathe easily again; however, the question remains whether or not this shift will be permanent.

Delhi’s AQI has dropped out of the “severe” category

With Delhi’s AQI now sitting within the “very poor” – “poor” ranges at most of its AQI monitoring stations, and with favourable meteorological conditions playing an important role in dispersing these pollutants from the atmosphere.

Environmental experts are optimistic that while this is an excellent sign of improvement, it should be viewed in context because it is largely driven by meteorological conditions rather than long-term fixes or robust implementation of the existing rules and regulations that help to control hazardous air pollutant emissions and pollutants from both industries and motor vehicles.

GRAP Stage III Curbs Lifted: What Changes Now?

Due to the lifting of the curbs imposed under GRAP Stage III, various restrictions have been lifted and now apply to:

1. The recommencement of construction and demolition activities

2. The re-entry of specific diesel vehicles

3. Reduced limitations on Industrial Operations

In addition, it has been confirmed by authorities that all Stage I and II Restrictions will remain in place so as to ensure that the fundamental Pollution Control Measures are still in effect.

Why Has There Been an Abrupt Increase in Air Quality Improvement?

The temporary improvement of air quality can be linked to the following three reasons:

1. Increased wind speed to disperse pollution

2. Slight increase in temperatures caused by reducing the “inversion layer” (layer of warm air that prevents pollutants from rising away from Earth’s surface).

3. No large spikes in stubble burning recently.

Again, Environmental Experts have informed us that environmental conditions are constantly changing and that these factors will not remain constant.

Is It Likely That Air Quality Will Continue to Improve in the Future?

Forecast models suggest that in several days, if wind speed decreases or if local emissions increase, air quality in Delhi could deteriorate again. As we are currently in the peak of winter, the likelihood of pollution returning is very high.

Environmentalists have also stated that we must not mistake the current short-term improvements in Air Quality as a sign of Long-Term Recovery. Therefore, Environmentalists are calling for the implementation of Permanent Clean and Green transportation.

Maharashtra Civic Polls: Has The Opposition Already Lost The Battle? Mahayuti Sweeps 68 Seats Unopposed, Can Rahul and Thackeray Bounce Back?

Maharashtra Civic Polls: The BJP-Shiv Sena Shinde coalition has won 66 wards and Ajit Pawar’s NCP bagged 2 even before a single vote has been cast in the municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra.

What Happened At The Maharashtra Civic Polls?

January 2 was the last day for nomination form withdrawal. Many candidates of alliances and other parties did so, which paved the way for 68 leaders to win unopposed.

Uddhav Thackeray & Company Blamed Money And Threats

The ruling NDA government led by BJP was blasted by the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. The opposition parties said BJP has used threats and money to get opposition parties to withdraw from the Maharashtra civic polls.

Raj Thackeray’s MNS staged a protest in Thane, questioning the nomination form withdrawal process.

The State Election Commission has now initiated an enquiry to ascertain whether nominations were withdrawn because of money or threats.

The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) was the biggest surprise where 6 from Shiv Sena Shinde and 15 from the BJP won without any opposition.

Political experts believe that these unopposed wins for the Mahayuti would help them focus on campaigning in other areas that are yet to be secured and won.

‘Bollywood Is Soft Target…’ Netizens REACT After Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi Asks Shah Rukh Khan To Apologise For Choosing Bangladeshi Player

Shah Rukh Khan is once again at the centre of a public controversy. This time, the issue is linked to cricket and rising anger over violence against minorities in Bangladesh. The row started after his IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders, picked Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman at the IPL auction.

The decision sparked sharp reactions from some quarters. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, Chief Imam of the All India Imam Organisation, openly criticised Shah Rukh Khan. He demanded an apology from the actor and asked him to speak out on the issue.

Speaking to ANI, Ilyasi questioned Shah Rukh Khan’s awareness of events in Bangladesh. He asked, “Does Shah Rukh Khan has no information regarding the atrocities being committed against Hindus in Bangladesh?” He then said, “Even if he doesn’t know this, it is a pity. And if he knows that Hindus are being tortured in Bangladesh and then he buys the players there, it is even more saddening.”

The Imam went further with his demand. He said, “I think Shah Rukh Khan should apologise to the people of the country. He should also give a statement condemning the atrocities being committed against Hindus in Bangladesh.” Imam also added, “The way he has done it, in my eyes or in the eyes of the country, it is not right at all.”

His comments quickly went viral and triggered a strong online response.

Netizens Defend Shah Rukh Khan, Say ‘Bollywood Is Soft Target’

Soon after the remarks surfaced, social media platforms were flooded with reactions. While a few users trolled Shah Rukh Khan, many defended him. Several people questioned why the actor was being blamed for a decision taken under IPL rules.

Read some online user comments on llyasi’s video

BCCI or Indian government hasn’t put any restriction on Bangladeshi players so far ….why should KKR do such a thing.”

“Why Shah Rukh Khan will apologise? Tell BCCI president to apologise. Bollywood is always a soft target.”

“Imam, Why India played with Pakistan after Pehalgam?”

“Abe bechta kaun hai??? Ye to dekh.. bechne wala BCCI .. kitna giroge be ?”

“Wah kya acting hai.”

“BCCI ne Bangladeshi player’s ko permission di hai ipl khelne ki srk ne nahi yeh hai Maulana ka double standard deklo bhaiyon”

“What about BJP, who allows to play cricket with pakistan & what about IPL President, who allows IPL franchise to buy Bangladesh cricketers???”

“Maulana ji aaj se Right Wing walo ke abba banenge.”

“BCCI has no issues… but this corrupt molvi numa has.”

Political Reactions And Bangladesh Violence Deepen The Controversy

Political voices soon joined the debate. Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey also criticised KKR’s decision. He said Shah Rukh Khan was ignoring the feelings of the nation.

Dubey stated, “Bangladeshi players shouldn’t be allowed to play on Indian soil in the IPL…Pakistani and Bangladeshi players should be prohibited.” He then added, “Shah Rukh Khan should immediately remove that Bangladeshi cricketer from his team… If he doesn’t do this even after all this uproar, it will prove that, while he lives in this country and earns money here, he doesn’t understand this nation’s sentiments.”

For the unversed, KKR bought Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 9.20 crore at the IPL auction. The pacer became one of the franchise’s key overseas picks.

The anger around the issue is closely linked to recent violence in Bangladesh. In December 2025, a Hindu garment worker named Dipu Chandra Das was lynched after being falsely accused of making objectionable remarks about Prophet Muhammad. Reports said he was beaten, hanged from a tree, and set on fire. He was also forced to chant Islamic slogans.

Soon after, another Hindu man, Amrit Mondal, was lynched in the Rajbari district. Earlier this week, Bajendra Biswas was shot dead in Mymensingh.

IPL 2026: BCCI Finally Draws The Line, Mustafizur Rahman OUT of IPL, Is This The End Of Pakistani And Bangladeshi Cricketers’ Dreams?

IPL 2026

IPL 2026: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Bangladesh speedster Mustafizur Rahman who was bought by Shahrukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) would not be playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

IPL 2026: End of road for Pakistani and Bangladeshi players?

Famously known as “The Fizz”, Mustafizur is known as the one of the most bankable left-arm pacers in the world of cricket.

He has featured in the IPL with five different franchises: Sunrisers Hyderabad (2016-2017), Mumbai Indians (2018), Rajasthan Royals (2021), Delhi Capitals (2022–2023, 2025) and Chennai Super Kings (2024).

The Bangladeshi pacer was bought by KKR for a massive ₹9.20 crore for IPL 2026.

Till date, the pacer has participated in 60 IPL matches, scalping an impressive 65 wickets at an economy rate of 8.13.

This means that there would be no place from any player from Pakistan and Bangladesh in IPL 2026.

Why was Mustafizur Rahman Pulled Out Of IPL 2026?

In recent times, the atrocities of Bangladeshi authorities and people against Hindus and minorities led to calls for the removal of Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL team. Many Hindus were brutally assaulted, mobbed and set ablaze. Several seers and political leaders made the call and some even termed Shahrukh Khan as a traitor.

Amitabh Bachchan asked, “Which Indian filmmaker is the mother of Zohran Mamdani, mayor-elect of New York City?” The options were Gurinder Chadha, Mira Nair, Deepa Mehta and Aparna Sen.

Renu paused. She looked unsure. She then used the 50-50 lifeline. Two options were removed. She was left with Mira Nair and Deepa Mehta. After a brief thought, she chose Mira Nair. The answer was correct. She won Rs 5 lakh and looked visibly relieved.

For many viewers, the moment felt emotional and proud. Soon after the episode aired, short clips flooded social media. Fans of Zohran Mamdani shared the video with joy.

One user wrote, “I love this. His mom is such an icon too.” Another said, “It’s so satisfying to hear his name pronounced correctly.” A third user joked, “He has officially made it.”

About Zohran Mamdani

Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as New York City’s mayor on January 1. His political rise has drawn global attention. Now, with his mention on Kaun Banega Crorepati, his story has reached millions of Indian homes.

Mamdani is the 112th Mayor of New York City. His win created history as he became the city’s first Muslim mayor. He is also the first South Asian and first African-born mayor. At the same time, he is the youngest person to hold the office since 1892.

Zohran Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda. He is the son of filmmaker Mira Nair and academic Mahmood Mamdani. He moved to New York City when he was seven years old.

Before politics, he worked as a housing counsellor. He also explored music and performed in the hip-hop scene under the name “Young Zami”.

His political career began in 2020. He defeated a long-time incumbent to represent the 36th District of the New York State Assembly in Queens. That win marked him as a strong new voice.

In the 2025 mayoral election, Mamdani won decisively. He defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa. His campaign focused on affordability and daily struggles.

As mayor, he has promised major changes. His plans include freezing rent for nearly one million households. He also wants fare-free buses across the city. City-run grocery stores are part of his vision too. He has pledged universal childcare and a $30 minimum wage by 2030.

Still, challenges remain. Mamdani faces resistance from the federal government under President Donald Trump. His views on global issues have also drawn attention worldwide.

People of Punjab to get Cashless Health Insurance worth Rs 10 lakh; Punjab government signs MoU under ‘Chief Minister’s Health Scheme’

Punjab News

In a historic move toward achieving Universal Health Coverage as promised by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Government is all set to roll out the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna’ (MMSY) this month. Marking a significant milestone, an agreement was signed on Friday with the United India Insurance Company in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh to provide ₹10 lakh cashless health insurance cover to all families of Punjab.

This development follows the recent announcement by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann to launch the scheme in January 2026, ensuring health dignity and financial protection for every household. The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) State Health Agency (SHA) Sanyam Aggarwal and Executive Director United India Insurance company Mathew George.

Declaring it a landmark reform, Health Minister Balbir Singh said that the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna significantly expands health protection from the earlier ₹5 lakh coverage, which was limited to specific categories. “The new scheme aims to provide cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family per year to all residents of Punjab, including government employees and pensioners,” he said.

He said that CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP National Convenor of Arvind Kejriwal will formally launch this scheme on January 15, 2026.

The Health Minister emphasised that the scheme is designed for total inclusivity, featuring no income cap or exclusion criteria. “Enrolment has been made simple and accessible through Common Service Centres (CSCs) using only Aadhaar and Voter IDs, after which beneficiaries will receive dedicated MMSY health cards. A helpline will be launched soon to facilitate the process,” he added.

Highlighting the operational framework, Minister Balbir Singh informed that United India Insurance Company—selected for its proven track record in implementing similar health insurance schemes in other states, such as Tamil Nadu—will provide coverage of ₹1,00,000 per family for all 65 lakh families in the state. “For treatment requirements between ₹1,00,000 and ₹10,00,000, the insurance will be provided by the State Health Agency (SHA) Punjab on a trust basis,” he said.

“The selection of United India Insurance brings the advantage of specialists to manage CPD processing efficiently, ensuring faster claim settlements and reduced payment turnaround times,” said the Health Minister.

Dr. Balbir Singh further detailed that the scheme adopts the latest Health Benefit Package (HBP 2.2), ensuring comprehensive coverage through more than 2,000 selected treatment packages. “Beneficiaries can access secondary and tertiary care across a robust network of 824 empaneled hospitals, which currently includes 212 Public Hospitals, eight Government of India Hospitals, and over 600 Private Hospitals. The number of empaneled hospitals is expected to increase further as the scheme progresses,” he concluded.

Anurag Dhanda Targets BJP Over Indore Water Tragedy After Raising Voice on Delhi Pollution

AAP leader Anurag Dhanda has once again taken an aggressive stand on a major public interest issue, this time over the Indore water tragedy, strongly attacking those responsible and holding the BJP-led governments accountable. Known for his outspoken approach, Dhanda had earlier raised serious concerns over Delhi’s pollution crisis and is now drawing national attention to the situation in Madhya Pradesh.

Anurag Dhanda Targets BJP Over Indore Water Tragedy After Raising Voice on Delhi Pollution

The Indore water tragedy has shaken the country, particularly in Bhagirathpura area, where contaminated water supply reportedly led to the death of several people. The incident has triggered outrage and raised serious questions over governance, civic responsibility, and accountability. As the issue continues to dominate headlines, Anurag Dhanda has sharply criticised both the state and central leadership.

Dhanda alleged that people were earlier forced to breathe toxic air due to government failure

Reacting strongly on social media, Dhanda alleged that people were earlier forced to breathe toxic air due to government failure, and now citizens are losing their lives after consuming poisoned drinking water. In a scathing remark, he said that such incidents expose the “complete administrative collapse” under BJP rule.

The Aam Aadmi Party also issued a statement questioning the BJP’s handling of the situation. The party pointed out that despite all key positions in Indore — including MPs, MLAs, municipal officials, and even the Chief Minister — being held by BJP leaders, the tragedy could not be prevented. According to AAP, at least 14 deaths linked to contaminated water underline deep-rooted negligence.

Dhanda also objected to the reported behaviour of minister Kailash Vijayvargiya towards journalists, stating that silencing questions reflects arrogance and fear of accountability. He stressed that instead of suppressing voices, governments should answer the public and ensure justice for affected families.

Earlier too, Anurag Dhanda remained vocal on the Delhi pollution crisis, repeatedly urging governments to take concrete measures. Through press conferences and public statements, he has consistently raised issues linked to health, environment, and governance.

His strong response to the Indore water tragedy, political observers say, is part of his continued effort to keep people-centric issues at the centre of national discourse.
