Farm protest- Centre appeals SC to stop tractor rally on Republic Day

The Center has appealed to the Supreme Court to stop a tractor rally of farmers protesting on 26 January, Republic Day. If his demand to repeal the controversial agricultural laws is not met, the farmers plan to hold a huge rally in Delhi on 26 January. Farmers in Haryana are also planning to organize a rally, which will include a tractor from each village. The farmers had said that they were expecting at least 20,000 tractors.

In an affidavit filed in the court, the Center noted the constitutional and historical significance of Republic Day, which is surrounded by a set of events.

The Center said: Law and order, public order, public interest will not be there, but it will also be a big problem for the nation.

The Center told the court that farm laws were not implemented quickly, but were “the result of two decades of deliberations”. The farmers of the country are happy because they are currently given more than one option… no rights have been taken away.

The Supreme Court on Monday lashed out at the Center over how to deal with the farmers’ protests over the three agricultural laws and said it was’ very disappointed ‘with the way it interacted with farmers. The Supreme Court can hear the matter today.
The Center told the court that it was not hasty in the matter of agricultural laws, rather it was “the result of two decades of deliberations”. The farmers of the country are happy because they have been given an additional option with the existing options … No vested rights have been taken away. “
The government said that it has tried its best to connect with the farmers to remove any kind of misunderstanding going on in the minds of the farmers. The affidavit stated, “There has been no reduction in efforts by the Center.”

On this Republic Day India will not have any Foreign Chief Guest

In the midst of a worldwide outcry due to Corona, India has almost made preparations that this time the country’s 72nd Republic Day will be celebrated without any foreign guests. According to sources, after the decision of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson not to attend the ceremony due to Corona, India has now thought of not inviting any foreign guests.

This will be the first Republic Day in the last five decades, with no foreign guests as chief guests. Earlier, no foreign guests could attend the Republic Day Parade in 1966, when Indira Gandhi was sworn in as PM on January 24 following the sudden demise of Lal Bahadur Shastri on January 11.

“We do not want to put any foreign guests in an uncomfortable situation,” the official said. PM Boris Johnson had expressed his inability to visit India in view of rising corona cases due to new strains in the UK.

In the year 2018, 10 Asian countries attended the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guests. This was the first time that the heads of so many countries had participated in the 26 January parade.

This will be the fourth time that there will be no chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations of India. This has happened before in 1952, 1953 and 1966. At the same time, there were many occasions when two or two guests also attended the Republic Day celebrations of the country. In 1956, 1968 and 1974, two chief guests attended.

A Downing Street spokesman said, “The Prime Minister (Johnson) spoke to Prime Minister Modi this morning to express regret for not being able to go on his India visit later this month.” “In the light of the national lockdown announced last night and in view of the new type of outbreak of the corona virus, the Prime Minister has said that it is necessary for him to be present in Britain, so that he can focus on the domestic response against the virus.”

10,000 PLA troops steps back near LAC in eastern Ladakh

China has moved back around 10,000 troops from positions inside Chinese territory near the Line of Actual Control border (LAC) in eastern Ladakh where the Indian and Chinese armies have been engaged in an eyeball to eyeball confrontation, two people familiar with the matter said on Monday.

“There has been a reduction from the rear echelons in the Ladakh area, but we have to see what happens. Are they going to come back in the spring?” a high-level source said.

A senior government official confirmed that there have been visual confirmation of troops going back in trucks, but there is no report of a reduction in the number of tanks and artillery pieces.

The PLA has about 350 tanks in different parts of East Ladakh, particularly in the Depsang and near the Spanggur Tso area. The PLA has a lot of artillery and air defence equipment in the area.

The traditional training areas are around 150 km and beyond from the Indian side of the LAC, according to the report.

The Army has deployed around 50,000 troops in addition to heavy equipment to match the Chinese deployment.

“The area is witnessing temperatures below – 40 degrees. In such conditions there is almost no scope for military manoeuvres as even equipment fail to function,” officials said.

The Ladakh standoff is in its ninth month, with soldiers holding forward positions at friction points in extreme weather conditions. The two armies have held eight rounds of military talks so far, with dates yet to be announced for the delayed ninth round of dialogue between corps commander-level officers.

Even as the ground situation remains unchanged in the Ladakh sector, chief of defence (CDS) staff General Bipin Rawat on Monday reached Leh for a security review of the sensitive area. Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria also visited forward areas in eastern Ladakh on Monday.

Herd immunity can not be achieved in 2021: WHO

The arrival of vaccine has raised hopes across the world with many countries already starting the inoculation. While the vaccine has arrived at a rate faster than expected, it will still take us time to get back to the world as we knew it. To get rid of a pandemic, it is important to achieve herd immunity. However, the World Health Organisation on Monday warned that herd immunity can not be achieved this year.

“We are not going to achieve any levels of population immunity or herd immunity in 2021,” WHO’s chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan told a briefing. He further added that we need to continue taking strictest measures like physical distancing, hand washing and mask wearing control the spread.

“Even if it happens in a couple of pockets in a few countries, it’s not going to protect people across the world,” she added.

Meanwhile, Swaminathan lauded the progress made by scientists on the vaccine front and hailed them for developing not only one but several vaccines against the brand new virus in less than a year.

Talking about vaccination drive, she said that rolling out vaccines takes time and asked people to be a little bit patient. “It takes time to scale the production of doses, not just in the millions, but here we are talking about in the billions,” she said.

“The vaccines are going to come,” she said. “They are going to go to all countries … but meanwhile we mustn’t forget that there are measures that work,” she added, pointing that guidelines are still relevant.

Meanwhile, setting yet another grim milestone, the overall global coronavirus caseload surpassed the 90 million mark on Monday, while the deaths have surged to more than 1.92 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

The United States, which remains the worst hit country by the pandemic, has distributed over 25.4 million vaccine doses.

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s newborn baby girl’s first pic is all hearts, see here

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and her cricketer husband Virat Kohli welcomed their first child — a baby girl — on Monday, January 11. Asking everyone to respect their privacy, the cricketer shared in an Instagram post that both Anushka and baby are healthy. The news brought a ray of happiness among everyone as netizens including couple’s friends and followers flooded social media with the choicest blessings. However, no picture of the newborn was shared from couple’s official social media accounts. But, we finally have a glimpse of Virat and Anushka’s little angel, courtesy Virat’s brother Vikas Kohli.

Vikas took to Instagram welcome the little angel as he posted a pic of tiny feet along with the caption, “Happiness overboard …. angel in the house.”

Meanwhile, Virat’s sister Bhavna Kohli Dhingra also took to her Instagram account and shared a picture of newborn’s feet held by an adult, perhaps it was a wallpaper. Sharing the pic, she had written, “so happy to be bua of a little angel. Congratulations proud parents Virat and Anushka.”

See the pic here:

Earlier, sharing the news in an official statement, Virat posted, “We are thrilled to share with you all that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy this time. Love Virat.”

In an interaction with Vogue, Anushka had said that she and Virat would like to keep their child away from the limelight for the time being.

“We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye – we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through,” she said.

Virat and Anushka had announced in August 2020 that they are expecting their first child. The couple had posted a pic wherein Anushka was seen flaunting her tiny baby bump and written, “And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021.”

The PM said that the coronation of Corona vaccination is going to start on January 16. Three crore people will be given the corona vaccine in the first phase. In his address, he tried to tell that the preparations for vaccination are complete and there is no question about it.

The PM said that India is entering a decisive phase of vaccination in the fight against Covid. We are starting the world’s largest vaccination program from 16 January.

He said that the two corona virus vaccines that have been allowed emergency use by the country’s drug regulator are both ‘Made in India’. He said that four more vaccines are also in the works. The PM said that our vaccines are the most economical in the world.

Prime Minister Modi said that I am satisfied that during the Covid crisis we worked together, decisions were taken immediately with full sensitivity. The result of this is that the corona infection in India did not spread to the level at which it spread to other countries of the world.

The Prime Minister said that we have to take care that the rumors regarding the vaccine should not be aired. There should be no talk on ‘if’ and ‘but’. Many mischievous elements can act as a hindrance to it. Every such attempt has to be thwarted by conveying the right information to every citizen. Religious and social institutions will have to take help in this.

Modi said that from January 16, we are going to start the world’s largest vaccination campaign. About three crore health workers and frontline workers will be vaccinated in the first phase. In the second phase, they will be given vaccine who are more than 50 years of age and who are less than 50 years of age and suffer from serious diseases.

The Prime Minister said that so far only 25 million people have been vaccinated worldwide. We will achieve the target of immunization of 300 million citizens in the next few months. India has completed the rehearsal of vaccination in almost all districts, which is a major achievement.

He said that the increased confidence among people in our campaign to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic has positively affected economic activities. The Prime Minister said that the representative of the people is not included in the three crore Corona warriors, the first will be vaccination of the personnel of the Front Front.

SC set to deliver the verdict on Farm Laws tomorrow

Farm Laws, Supreme Court on Farm Laws,
Farm Laws, Supreme Court on Farm Laws,

The Supreme Court is all set to pronounce the final verdict on the petitions challenging the validity of farm laws on Tuesday.

A bench of three-judges headed by Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva, RJD MP Manoj K Jha is hearing the petition against the farm laws.

The Chief Justice of India has rapped the Central government over their stand on the farmer’s protest and entire row.

“We do not think the Centre is handling this issue correctly. We have to take some action today. This is a very serious matter. We are proposing and facilitating to try to form a committee and we are also thinking that we will hold the implementation of the laws till further orders,” the CJI suggested to one of the petitioners.

“You have made a law without enough consultation resulting in a strike,” he added.

“We are suggesting staying the implementation of farm laws only to facilitate the talks before the Committee,” the CJI said.

“We don’t want to say anything, the protests can go on, but who is going to take the responsibility?” he asked.

The CJI asserted, “If the Centre does not want to stay the implementation of farm laws, we will put a stay on it… The Union of India must take responsibility for all this. You (Centre) are bringing the laws and you can do it in a better manner.”

The Supreme Court’s order is significantly important as it can raise an outrage in the entire nation on either of the side.

Farmers have been protesting across the Delhi borders since November 2020, against the newly enacted Farm Laws and more than 100 farmers have died.
